FFS Cup

FFScout Cups – Results and Third Round Draws

Our two Fantasy Football Scout cup competitions are progressing at lightning pace as we look back on the events of the midweek’s second round and ahead to round three, which kicks off on Saturday.

There were mixed fortunes for some former winners of our open to all cup, with reigning champion A Manager Has No Name among those to go through to the next round. He saw off community regular Krul runnings to set himself up with a clash with What Divock?!, who, with an overall rank of 69,987, is 42,738 places higher.

Among the other champions, Wild Rover and Donnellyc also prevailed, as did Mark, who squares up to tkmlim.

Of this trio, Mark – who is ranked 542 overall – can feel the most confident, given that his opponent is placed 66,102 places behind him.

However, the same cannot be said of 42,422-ranked Wild Rover, who faces the cup’s highest placed manager pitstop1 – he sits in 123rd spot.

There is also a seismic gap in the tie involving 284,826-ranked donnellyc and his opponent Who Divock Is Origi, who is comfortably in the top 10,000 at 6,139.

Sadly, I exit at this early stage, with Not Much Klopp’s score of 70 proving too much for my 50-point tally. Gribude joins me through the door, after being defeated 56-50 by Footopia.

Joining Mark as one of our live Hall of Fame representatives to survive is Dronny Imp, aka David Meechan, who progressed past Legomane 65-59 to take on Jurgen Can Karius, who, at 931,186, is the clear underdog given David’s pedigree and current 4,767 rank.

Another elite manager to make the cut is My Pretty Pony, aka Peter Kouewenberg, who is third in our live Hall of Fame and earns a third round encounter with Prophet.

This is another favourable clash for one of our top veterans, given that Peter’s opponent is ranked 262,527 places below his 1,567 ranking.

Top Marx, whose regular community analysis of the Hall of Fame involves some enlightening conversations with Peter, also makes it through and takes on Citizen Z.

The full third round draw can be found here.

Meanwhile, in our Members cup there will be a new name on the trophy after both former winners were dispatched.

Fuzzy Dunlop was beaten 60—56 by community veteran Parm, while Trigg was sent packing by Fenghh.

Billy Ketsu had a week to forget, after losing his place at the summit of the FFScout Members league and tasting defeat in his cup draw against Doctor 101.

Sleep Talk, who was beaten in round one of the open to all cup by Mark, is having better luck in the Members Cup, where he overcame Ma3jdw. This 38,164-ranked manager will now face 52,905-placed AT in the third round.

Another eye catching tie is community regulars FrankieTheGent and Hybrid.power’s clash.

There is also the chance of a giant killing for 56,534 ranked Rickytoso, who squares up to the Members cup’s highest-ranked manager Pukka, who is placed at 78th in the world.

The full third round draw can be found here.

There is £350 in Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk vouchers up for grabs for the final top three managers in both tournaments.

Good luck to all those involved and if you would like more information on the schedule and prizes click this link.

    Any chance Vardy rests or is subbed off early against Everton? Leicester has Atleti just a couple days later, after all.

    Managed to regain top spot in my ML this week, and currently lead by 4 points. I'm looking to create as big a gap as possible over the coming weeks so am considering wild carding due to the favourable fixtures for the big teams this weekend. What's peoples opinions on the following transfers;

    Courtois -> Valdes (DGW wk34)
    Daniels -> Holgate (Should be Everton's regular RB with Coleman out?!)
    Simpson -> Rojo (DGW wk34)
    Siggy -> Sane (Unsure on this as I think Siggy could have a field day against West Ham this weekend, and Pep's rotation!)
    Lukaku -> Aguero
    Llorente -> Negredo (DGW wk34)

    The remaining players in my team will be;

    Pickford
    Maguire (Tempted to swap out for Robertson as feel he may bring in more points due to his assist threat)
    Van Aanholt (Keeping him and praying that he's fit for DGW wk34)
    Brunt
    Alli
    Eriksen
    Son
    Zaha (DGW wk34)
    Costa (Got to find he's goal scoring boots this weekend against Bournemouth?!)

    I then plan to swap out Costa and Son next week for Kane and De Roon (Ready for DGW 34). This will then give me 5 players (potentially 6) with DGW fixtures. I then plan on shipping De Roon & Negredo for GW 35 onwards.

    Potential squad for GW 32;

    Valdes/Pickford
    Holgate/Maguire(?)/Brunt/Rojo/Van Aanholt
    Alli/Eriksen/Son/Sane(?)/Zaha
    Costa/Aguero/Negredo

    I know Lukaku has a favourable fixture against Burnley next week, but I'm looking for differentials as everybody in my ML has him, and I think a strikeforce of Aguero and Kane should cover the loss of Lukaku.

    Would love to hear peoples thoughts!

      If your on top then having Lukaku is advisable as if he goes crazy you will suffer as your rivals will have him...

        I guess the basic weigh up is Aguero or Lukaku? Based on form I'm inclined to go with Aguero and hope Lukaku's drought continues (although admittedly you'd fancy him to net against Burnley next week). I've been burnt by being indecisive with transfers in the last few GW's (keeping Ibra instead of swapping out for Kane before his hat trick, Deciding to keep Zaha instead of bringing in King the week of his hat trick, and then was tempted to swap Lukaku for Vardy this week and Vardy netted. Thinking another hat trick could be inbound this week for Aguero!)

      If youre leading I wouldn't get rid of lukaku for the next two gws

        I'm thinking perhaps sell Lukaku this week, keep Costa, then transfer Costa out for Lukaku next week? I know he'll probably be about £0.2M more but I think Costa will score this weekend and I think Leicester could stifle Lukaku. If I go that route I would likely only keep Lukaku for the Burnley fixture then swap him out for Kane as he should be fully fit by that point.

    A.) Davies (TOT)
    B. ) Gabriel (ARS)

    Have 3 doubts, Carrol ; Maguire ; Bertrand
    Already did Pedro -> Alli as had exact funds

    Reckon I surely need to take a hit as I also have Amat, so Bertrand has to be for the chop gives me 5.4m

    What would you do with this lot? Worrying about my team now, after thinking it was sorted. Need City cover and Ibra in there.

    De Gea
    Davies, Valencia, Walker
    Alli, Sanchez, Coutinho, King
    Lukaku, Carroll, Vardy

    Jaku, Maguire, Chambers, Davies

    Carroll, Coutinho have slight injury concerns

    A - Walker & Vardy -> Yosh & Aguero
    B - Walker & Vardy -> Yosh & Ibra
    C - Walker, Vardy, Coutinho -> Yosh, Ibra, Sane/Erikson
    D - Walker, Sanchez, Carroll -> Yosh, Sane/Erikson, Ibra
    E - Carroll, Cout -> Origi, Sane

    I have ibra, origi and vardy front 3.
    Does anyone else think aguero is over-hyped for this hull game or is he "essential"? I still have bad memories of Sun / Stoke double in which he got a total of just 9 points. He hasn't scored a hattrick all season.

      Not sure he is essential for the price tbh. I'm trying to get Sane in though
