Development Squad – Update Four Is Live

Update Four is now live, introducing heatmaps as a major new feature, along with another round of tweaks and improvements.

Once again Matz1lla has done us proud with his efforts, as we continue to work at enhancing the site and tools on offer.

Here’s what’s included in this update:

Team and Player Heatmaps
As mentioned in our preview article, we’ve tried to go the extra mile with our heatmaps feature.

I always wanted to ensure that, when these were included in our members’ area, they would work with the ability to slice the Opta data by intervals – eg Gameweeks, matches, home and away etc.

Implemented in this way, they suddenly become more effective as a method of analysing player and team performance, not just in a single match, but in a group of fixtures or over the entire season.

So heatmaps can now be found in player and team profiles and in the player and team comparison tools.

You can also get them in the match dashboard, to view traditional team or single player maps for a particular fixture.

We’ve added maps for the following statistics:

Touches
Passes Received
Shots
Chances Created
Recoveries
Challenges Lost
Successful Take ons
Failed Take ons
Goal Attempts Conceded (teams only)
Chances Created Conceded (teams only)
Fouls Conceded (teams only)

Hazard vs Pedro – Touches – 2016/17 All Matches
members

The preview movie below shows the heatmaps in action and the options and possibilities available.

Heatmaps Preview Movie

If you’ve any feedback on the maps or have any requests on other statistics you would like to see mapped, please get in touch via support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

Bonus Points System additions
Having added the Baseline Bonus Points System statistics in Update Three, we’ve tweaked this further and implemented the statistics to both the player profiles and player comparison tools.

Baseline BPS is now included as a key statistic when comparing players.

Fantasy Goal Involvement
We’ve always included the goal involvement statistic.

This measured a player’s contribution in terms of goals scored or assisted as a percentage of his team’s goals scored when he was on the pitch.

We’ve now expanded this to offer a new statistic, which takes into account Fantasy assists. This is now found on the player statistic Involvement tables.

What’s coming next?
We’re looking to add Fantasy Premier League prices to our database in order to surface these in our profiles and player tables. The aim is to introduce the ability to filter tables by these prices.

We will then move to include Sky Sports prices in their tables and also build Yahoo Daily Fantasy tables, which will hopefully include player prices for the forthcoming contests.

Expected goals remains a background task as we continue to research and explore options for our model.

Once the season begins, we will also start to address improvements away from the Members’ area and, in particular, look at our HomeCrowd comments system.

You can see our current task list and track our progress through the next update via this roadmap.

You can also send your feedback and requests to me at mark@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

Our previous updates are detailed here, here and here.

A reminder that, if you want access to this forthcoming update and other future additions to the members’ area, you can sign up for the new campaign now for our pre-season price of £12.50 (RRP £15.00).

Existing registered users can upgrade via this link. New users, who are yet to get a registered account, can sign up via this link.

If you’re new to the benefits of Fantasy Football Scout membership, you can get full details, along with a series of movies previewing the content, via this page.

Due to the new site additions, if you encounter any loading issues with the images in comparison tool, we advise clearing the browser cache (shift and F5) to resolve this.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    First time joining this community.

Would be grateful if someone could glance over my team and see what you think....hit the wall with it in regards to changes.

    De gea

    Daniels kola trippier

    Kdb salah RLC zaha Willian

    Kane Jesus

    Subs: Elliot Abraham Rangel hunemier

Only other option I'm thinking is yoshida for kola and JWP for RLC as I'm concerned about 2x palace midfielders. Thoughts?

No utd Att? Mine team is close to yours .

But I have an extra decent defender.

I have Luka, Alli, Ritchie JWP and Bertie. Instead of Kane, KDB, Willian , RLC and Rangel.

I'm thinking everyone is taking luka and kane so it's all going to cancel out and leave us with less for mid and def, I have a fear jose will implement operation bus stop once they gain advantages. So may be less goals than people think (i could be way off there).

Prices of premium defenders and mids are getting ridiculous though.

just trying to finish of my defence - what are peoples thoughts on

    A) Ake over Daniels and why?
    B) best 4.5 Defender to rate with bournemouth defender (currently on Suttner)

      A) Daniels over ake imo - you want Bmouth defenders for attacking prospects (I imagine), so Ake's good baseline BPS is less important than Daniels' attacking threat.
      B) Suttner or Mee

I had Dawson and Cedric/Yoshida, but even if their teams have great opening fixtures, they don't look good defensively.

I like the mids, great picks.
I won't lie, the defence is too weak for my liking, but you are right, Soton don't look as solid as alot of us think they'll be.

I have a few questions lads to help with some of my decisions.Any info would be great.

Will Lukaku or Pogba take pens for united? A lot of people reckon the latter.
Is Mooy for Huddersfield injured as I don't think he has played in preseason for Hudds yet?
Will Iwobi get much gametime with arsenal?
Anyone else considering Rashford? the 4m saved from lukaku could be massive and I think he will be a big player for united this season whether up front or playing wider

      We don't know.
Mooy is fit and starting for them today.

The trend for big hitters seems to have settled on Lukaku, Kane, KDB + Mané/Cout/Salah. I'm just wondering whether it's better to avoid the Liverpool assets & try stretch that fourth big hitter slot to Lacazette? It's difficult without compromising rest of midfield, but a good back 4 makes up for it imo

    1. Respect My Authoritah
      • 10 Years

You can easily have 5 big hitters in attack if you go with 4 or 5 at the back

Even with that horrible schedule? 5 games in 15 days is too much for Coutinho & Mané, they will surely get injured or rested/subbed early. And will Klopp get them to tone it down a little if they do go a goal or two up in games to save themselves for the Hoffenheim games? They need to qualify for champs lge financially so could see those 2x games getting priority?

So would you downgrade Bertrand to Dawson/Cedric to upgrade Rangel to Lascelles?

Only Carrol will play so you just need to be sure that 10 of your 11 are guaranteed starters week-in week-out

You might just get away with it as Carroll will play every week to cover any of your mids/fwds missing games... if a def misses a game you're down to 10 men though

        Team is
        Foster(Elliot)
        Trippier Kompany Bertrand Daniels (Rangel)
        Alli Pogba Willian KDB (Carroll)
        Lukaku Jesus (Quaner)
Should I do Bertrand to Dawson/Cedric to upgrade weak bench? How to get Salah in?

Yeah you should be ok with that as long as not more than one of your 11 gets injured etc

That's my bench and I'm fine with it. Will strengthen on WC. Want my funds on the pitch to start with.

    Thoughts?
A bit light in the middle?

    De Gea
    Trippier, Bertrand, Dawson
    KDB, Alli, Tadic, Iwobi
    Lukaku Kane JRod

    Speroni, Carrol, Dunk, Rosenior

If Dawson is injured, best 3 5.0 defenders?

    Daniels?
    Yoshida?

Aké and Yoshida/Cedric are the only ones worth getting at 5.0 I think.

I must have missed the Sutherland movement - what are his selling points? Seems to be in loads of RMT's today, is he good??

He takes some free-kicks so an attractive option at 4.5

Best £7mill or less striking option? Will play every week. Worth a £7mill Chicarito or Iheanacho ahead of the lesser valued options?

Chcicharito Iheancho Austin Jrod look like the runners at the minute

          Chicarito probably has the fixtures

Definitely Austin IF I knew he would start... if he's benched then JRod if I knew he wasn't going to be injured after 45mins... then iheanacho if knew he would start ahead of slimani/ozakai etc. Then chicharito

Not many good options in that price bracket tbh. Austin is a popular pick, but he has competition from Gabbi. Chica looks good, but not the best opening fixtures + lacks match fitness.

Would love some feedback on this lot!

    Foster, Elliot
    Yoshida, Daniels, Lascelles, Mee, Suttner
    KdB, Salah, Willian, Zaha, Phillips,
    Lukaku, Jesus, Austin

Would love to upgrade one of the 4.5 defs to a 5, any ideas?

Phillips to Atsu, then Lascelles to Trippier IMO
