Free Yahoo FFS Holiday Cup

Fantasy Football Scout have teamed up with partner game Yahoo to set up the inaugural Holiday Cup contest.

Free to enter, this is a single-entry contest and there’s a total of £500 up for grabs in the contest, which takes place over the next four Gameweeks.

Scoring will be cumulative over the four rounds and your one lowest score will be dropped – that means you can afford to have an off-day and still profit.

The top 20 overall will earn winnings, with £50 going to the manager at the summit.

And the top 15 entries per round also receive prizes, with the top scorer from each of the four Gameweek rounds winning £10.

Crucially, it gets underway on Saturday December 23 at 12.45pm, when Everton entertain Chelsea at Goodison Park and finishes on Wednesday January 3, when Arsenal host Chelsea.

This means that, over the span of Gameweek 19-22, there are two Premier League matches excluded from the Yahoo FFS Holiday Cup contest – Arsenal vs Liverpool on Friday December 22 in Gameweek 19 and Spurs vs West Ham on Thursday January 4 in Gameweek 22.

The starting times of each round are as follows:

Round 1 – Saturday December 23 at 12.30pm
Round 2 – Tuesday December 26 at 12.30pm
Round 3 – Saturday December 30 at 3.00pm
Round 4 – Monday January 1 at 12.30pm

Please remember that Fantasy managers must select a new team for each Gameweek before the round gets underway.

To get involved, click here.

We’ve previously published a Strategy Guide on the Yahoo game, though later in the week, we’ll also offer analysis on some of the overlooked players who have fared well in their Opta-driven scoring system to help you further.

For those yet to register, you can open an account and get started immediately.

You must be over 18 years of age, resident in the UK, and of legal capacity to register with Yahoo Daily Sports and open an Account. If you sign up, please always play responsibly.

No. Definitely not. Not at all. Good question, maybe Surman or find another transfer to swap him for Zaha or Richarlison. On my phone, not at the moment.

double liverpool isn't a bad thing, i can see coutino matching Hazard, but pogba or silva or sterling are going to way out score choupo. Depends if down grading hazard frees up enough money

Been looking at ways to remove one of Hazard/Morata for a number of reasons including not wanting 2 eggs in the basket of Chelsea's underwhelming attack and wanting more City/Liverpool attack and I've found I can somehow afford this for a -12. For it to work I'm betting on Big Sam's bus being effective, Firmino's record v Arsenal continuing, Pogba coming back with a bang and City destroying Bournemouth. I think all are worthy bets. Chasing so inclined to take a few risks.

Outs: Hazard, RLC, Morata. Ins: KDB, Pogba, Firmino. (-12).

    Gives me:
    Pope (Elliott)
    Christensen Otamendi Jones (Masuaku Dunk)
    Salah KDB(C) POGBA Sterling Richarlison
    Kane FIRMINO (Niasse)

So what say ye? I think it could defo be worthwhile but perhaps all this tinkering + my desire to catch up has a mad sciency effect on me so keen to get feedback

    A) Not a fan of the -12 but I can see why and can also see the upside
    B) Don't do it, won't work

That's the worry but we all have moves we've delayed as they inolved hits that we later saw paid off. Mine was avoiding Morata to Firmino when Morata was ruled out v Hudds. So trying to find the balance between madness and genius

It could pay off and I'm not afraid of taking hits. However as you know there is risk involved. I want to do exactly the same thing as you with Haz and Morata. I think though I'll take them out over 2 weeks for 2 -4's... Probably.

I'm sticking to my weekly -16 .... it keeps things simple

I've ended up with 3 Everton (DEF, FWD, FWD) and 3 Chelsea (DEF, DEF, MID) .. .so not good for this week
I've sold DLC and punting on Diouf and will be benching Rooney, Kenny and Christensen
So playing Haz and Alonso and hoping for CS at least

Not sure if I want Rooney or Christensen as first sub but think Kenny is the least likely to get points

Same thing. My biggest worry is no City this weekend. The benefit of Kane out would have been investing in City for me.

Not interesting in selling Hazard - Salah - Richarlison and unfortunately top heavy up front with Kane - Lukaku - Firmino so going without City is petrifying but will have to shoehorn one in eventually.

Was strangely thinking/preparing for a Lukaku suspension for his role in the derby tunnel fight but haven't heard anything about that and thinking I would downgrade him to a third striker and upgrade by 5th midfielder 4.5M to a City asset.

      Happy with this core

      Cout Salah Hazard Sterling (Rich)
      Kane DCL (Niasse)

Rich to someone else and Niasse can rot or work his wake back. Not fussed immediately

The opportunity to have Kane and a Wham defender AND two ft going into that DGW, allowing me to bring in 2 extra players I just don't wanna pass up. Think it's a massive opportunity for a big rank rise. Also, it's far safer and involves no hits. Can't believe i was even considering taking out Kane now I've thought about it, but good luck to anyone who has taken the risk

Exactly same here. Not gonna change from it (unless injuries force me to). I'm looking at Harry, ogbonna, son and Arnie.

Same on the first two. Will have to reassess close to the GW as for the other transfers. Maybe a GK as they won't get rotated.

If Kane doesn't get a yellow card at Burnley, he is free and clear from suspension, correct? I believe the re-set button happens after this gameweek (19).

This is my thinking. So much can go wrong with the fixtures piling up, that already setting aside two transfers to take Kane out and then bring him back in seems unnecessarily risky, and, like you mentioned, limits your ability to bring in others for the double (e.g., Eriksen, Lanzini/Arnie, Lloris/Adrian, etc.).

Aguero could pay off but wait and see if there are any indications as to whether he'll actually start

Sanchez for sure, ridiculously poor value this season when you have sterling and silva smashing it for 8-8.5

Which individual performance from a player this season in FPL has been your highlight so far?

Mine has to be that Valencia goal, CS and max baps in GW5 when I was having an awful GW.

Getting Morata in the week he scored a hat trick against Stoke comes close too

Noice, and also a great gameweek to captain him when lots of other big hitters (eg. Kane, Morata, Hazard) weren't doing too well either

I think because my highest captain returns in last 10/11 weeks has been 6(12) makes it more special than it should be!

Benteke against Leicester on the weekend for a great and funny differential. Had him for a total of 7 weeks this season and those 11 points were his first returns.

Also Gross' 18 pointer and Lascelles' 15, both in GW4.

Sterling's 15 pointer v Stoke/Sane's 12 pointer v WBA, both times I had brought them in on successful hits which made it feel even better
