Dugout Discussion – Bournemouth vs Arsenal

The first of two Sunday fixtures gets underway at 1.30pm as Bournemouth welcome Arsenal to the Vitality Stadium.

Both sides have failed to pick up a clean sheet over the previous four Gameweeks, with the Cherries ranked bottom for both big chances conceded (12) and goals against (10).

That could be good news for the Gunners’ Alexandre Lacazette, who has failed to score in each of his last seven league outings.

Despite that recent drought, the Frenchman is the top captaincy pick for this match among Fantasy Premier League managers and ninth overall, claiming 2.2% of armbands.

However, there’s no spot in the squad for Alexis Sanchez as speculation over his future gathers pace in the January transfer window.

Elsewhere for the Gunners, Aaron Ramsey returns to the bench after recovering from a hamstring problem – he averaged 5.4 points per match (ppm) prior to injury.

Arsenal recent lack of resilience also looks promising for Eddie Howe’s side.

The Cherries were ranked first for shots inside the box (50) over the previous four, with Callum Wilson in fine form – only Harry Kane managed more shots on target (10 to seven).

And Jordon Ibe also boasts some eye-catching underlying stats – he ranked second for both shots (17) and key passes (13) over Gameweek 19-22.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Disgustng idea tbh. So many other transfers which could hit the jackpot to make and none of them need a headache in the weeks time deciding you reverse it or not.

    Arsenal fans are so salty.

I'm an Arsenal fan and I fully support his decision to leave. Even United is a step up because Arsenal are going backwards every season and the board doesn't care.

Sánchez to United makes him more of an FPL option than to City (I’m a city fan)

Having said that - why go to United now?

He gains so much more if he goes in summer. If he just waits 6 months he can have 20m for signing. At least - maybe more from United. Still get 375 a week or whatever crazy figure.

Going to United now - he doesn’t gain anything. They aren’t going to win anything this year (maybe fa cup max?)

Going to city now he gains something at least. Winning at least PL and maybe helping them do the double / triple /

I think he's just trying to scare City into buying him, which I don't think is the case. City don't need to unleash all that cash for him now, even if they could. Title in the bag and all.

Probably because of guaranteed playing time, centre of the team and more money...

City should just match the commercials and get him now.

      Leaves me with this:

      Christensen Jones Lindelöf
      Salah Sterling Son Lingard Arnautovic
      Kane Aguero

Risk involved but could be gold with a nice deep bench

I remember many years ago commenting about a United team sheet with a midfield of

          Januzaj Giggs Cleverley and Young....

I think they went on to win the title but my point was that the team sheet represented a team in decline with a child, an old man and a world class diver alongside an avg player and was worrying for United for the future....and so it proved.

Arsenal are starting to go down that same road if they're not careful...they need to get busy in the transfer market before it slides. That team sheet doesn't cut it for the long term.

Which one would you rather have over the coming weeks:
          A) Firmino, Lanzini (have Arnautovic as well), Alonso
          B) Aguero, Son, Kelly (rotated with Mee/Ogbonna/4.5)

They need to be careful about wandering into team sheets designed to beat AFC Bournemouth when in fact they should be having team sheets designed to give the top teams in Europe a good game.
