The ScoutCast – Episode 248 – Yogic

Jonty may just have stumbled on the perfect strategy with his newfound flexibility. Reserving millions in the bank, his squad is set up to react to the seismic shifts taking place, as Fantasy managers consider new players and formations.

Andy and an angry old-filled Az join me in forming the ScoutCast quartet, as we bounce off another round of community questions inspired by the changing landscape.

An appraisal of the 3-4-3, a full review of the deadline day arrivals and discussion on defensive surgery provide the spine of the show, before we embark on a Gameweek preview featuring an all-star cast of new Fantasy Island risks.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Thursday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Have the following team:
    Pickford (Pope)
    Alonso. Ota. Jones. (Dunk. Mee)
    Salah. Sterling. Son. Shaqiri (Carroll)
    Kane. Firmino. Wilson

Makes sense to hold Son or transfer him out for Willian or Martial?

    Courtois Elliot*
    Alonso Jones Duffy Masuaku* Kenny*
    Salah Sterling Bernardo Lingard Loftus-Cheek*
    Kane Aguero Calvert-Lewin*

    A) Calvert-Lewin -> Ulloa or someone else?

I know we talk about him a lot but is Harry Kane being overlooked for captain this week?
Scored 16 points against Liverpool in the reverse fixture this season, should have had at least 2 or 3 against United as well who are a far superior defence to Liverpool on paper.
Away from home his stats are mad and hes having a historic season for shots...
I know we make his case every week just thought he was flying under the radar a bit for this game as hes squared up against Salah...
    What are people's thoughts?

the difference is VVD has been consistently good since he joined Celtic, improving every season. his stats prove that while Ryad's career is littered with inconsistency. As much as I admire him for a big club he is a huge risk (65m is risk money for city). hes a late bloomer for a footballer and has had one and a bit exceptional seasons. Look at Cout, Aubemyang, Salah, players who have all been exceptional the last 3/4 years. this is the difference with Ryad and why no one will pay that cash. its not realistic and Leicester know it.

It's not naive to to liken football to normal employment at all!

To say that footballers are special only panders to the larger social problem of having lots of snowflakes that need to express there 'rights' on others and God help us all if we stop them.

The fact is that Mahrez is contracted (which means he has said he will play for them for the length of that contract) to Leicester. To then say well I haven't been allowed to move, and that's unfair, is a mute point.

People go on strike all the time it's a key way to secure better compensation or a move away.

Is everyone who does so a snowflake including CEOs? And are employers snowflakes for reneging on or terminating contracts, which also happens all the time?

Well as a public servant myself, despite being called to do so I have never, nor will ever strike.

That's because I have agreed to work for the money that was offered. No where in my contract does it say I get a pay rise, nor does it say (insert right here). Therefore why should I insist that I have one and down tools to make it happen? I'm not talking about where contracts are breached and change needs to happen because a human right or equality matter is in the balance, I'm talking about the mundanity of preference and want. In this case mahrez wants to play football elsewhere.

Maybe I'm being to literal. It's not that I dont see your point, nor that in some ways that's it not reasonable. I just feel you let your yes mean yes.

Leicester imho should have sold him. Who needs that type of disruption and negativity in a team anyway. That being said mahrez signed a contract. It's not like a human right is being denied here or his job is on the line because of poor management or something similar, he just want to leave and be paid more for playing football somewhere else. In this particular case Leicester can, quite rightly, say no.

Football is an exceptional industry. They've denied him a move for 4 windows now so it does seem quite harsh.

However, I can understand it if they reckon he can secure them the Europa League this year.

His protest should hopefully help him finally secure his move away in the summer as they can't string him along forever.

Good. City dodged a bullet there.

His attitude is shocking. Twice he has downed tools when the manager was up for getting sacked...and I have no doubt he was right in the thick of getting them the sack in the first place.

I have to disagree Wakey. He won them the title. He stayed and didn't let his head drop when Barca and Arsenal wanted him. Surely he deserves a bit of loyalty returned. End of day they denied him a prem league title . That's pretty hard for anyone to just take on the chin

Vardy was the ringleader. Mahrez still kept reasonable form atleast.

I saved last weeks transfer and now have 2FT's and 0.9m itb, but I cant work out what changes to make...
Rich to Wally could be one but I think it mite be best to swerve that one this week as they play Arsenal, any suggestions?

      Ryan
      Ogbonna Christensen Dunk
      Richarlson Hazard Sterling Salah
      Wilson Kane Firms

      Adrian Danilo Carroll Long

Christensen/Danilo to someone else is surely the best move.

Yeah they seems obvious ones but Christensen has a decent fixture this week, Danilo to a Bournemouth defender is in mind..
Improving on my 11 this week is the aim

At this stage of the season, who would you elect PFA player of the year?

      My top 5 would be:

      1- KDB
      2- Salah
      3- Kane
      4- DDG
      5- D.SILVA

At this stage I think Salah just nicks it. Although by the end of the season I recon it will be KDB.

I just get the feeling that Salah will go off the boil for a bit, but KDB is consistent as they come.

No Riyad Mahrez in the Leicester squad this weekend. The wantaway winger has missed training again after he failed to secure a move to Man City on deadline day. #LCFC

Need replacements for Christensen and Mahrez. Budget 15 m. Any ideas?

Rest of midfield and defense are
      Alonso - Ota - Mee - Kenny
      Salah - Sterling - Shaq - Lingard

      Cheers all!
