Dugout Discussion – Liverpool vs Spurs

After Palace and Newcastle shared the spoils at Selhurst Park, we now make our way to Anfield as Liverpool entertain Spurs at 4.30pm.

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) interest is substantial for Sunday’s late encounter, with Golden Boot rivals Harry Kane (17.3%) and Mohamed Salah (13.1%) among the top three captain picks for Gameweek 26.

Kane – who rolls up to Merseyside on the back of nine goals in his last six league starts – has already plundered 16 FPL points against Jurgen Klopp’s troops in a 4-1 home win back in Gameweek 9.

He was handed the armband by 12 of the top 100 FPL managers ahead of yesterday’s deadline, with 19 of those opting for Salah instead.

The Egyptian remains the most consistent source of points in FPL, with a goal or assist in 14 of his last 16 league appearances.

Ominously for Mauricio Pochettino’s team, Salah has delivered double-digits in each of his last two at Anfield as the Reds look to avenge their Wembley mauling.

Meanwhile, Roberto Firmino is the seventh top armband pick for this round of fixtures, though just 3.2% of managers have backed the Brazilian, who has served up six goals and three assists in his last seven starts.

Like Salah, both Dele Alli and Son Heung-Min were also among the goals in that previous head-to-head and will fancy their chances against a defence that shipped three goals to Man City in their last home match.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

This is a fact. Neither are anywhere close obviously but Hazard's style is much more Messi-esque than Salah's.

Ask why there should be an assist for a penalty or a FK. It's a different phase of play.

        1. Pariße
          • 9 Years
          6 years, 4 months ago

Ok the first one might have been a dive, I didn't see the replay. VVD was late in the 2nd one, similar to what Chelsea got against Arsenal. Overreaction from Lamela (and Hazard back then), but there was a late attempt to kick the ball that resulted in kicking the opponent, which makes it a foul.

Its apparent that there was no contact from one of the angles Ive seen for the Lamela "foul".
Kane was offside and even there was no contact.
The 94min is relevant because it didn't give Liverpool rhe chance to to anything after - and you should only call it if you are absolutely sure as a ref.
            Disgraceful

            1. Pariße
              • 9 Years
              6 years, 4 months ago

              Lamela was kicked.
Lovren touched the ball intentionally, so no offside (look below). Might have dived later.
WHAT? It doesn't matter if it's in the 1st, 94th or 105th, rules are rules regardless of the time of the incident. They don't need a chance to do anything after, they had a chance not to commit the foul.

was offside when the original ball was played, so lovren touching it or not is irrelevant.

Next to that embarrassing air swing from Lovren and a dive from Kane, wonder if they ban him retrospectively

Kane should be banned. Will be interesting if the FA or even the English media have the stones to call him on the dive. He's England's golden boy so I doubt it.

And there’s contact. It’s a pen if it isn’t offside

My head to head with Mark in the Elite 64 champions league last 16 comes down to

    Me: 23 points

    Mark: Hazard (c)

Goal + assist for Hazard & I'm out.

You will win. But I want Hazard and Alonso points as an owner.

Average for the Top 10k. You should be above average with those still to play.

Juding by some comments here it seems people won't give Salah the armband once again, amused.

People need to get a grip. Both were penalties and the linesman did brilliantly. I don't support either side and I did not captain Kane.

People banging on about offside do not know the rules of football.

Nah Lamela threw himself into VVD looking for the pen. Was extremely soft

Are we expecting bonus points for Salah?
I'm 3 points ahead of my Head 2 Head opponent, however, I took a 4 point hit.
MY opponent, strangely, doesn't have Salah!

Playing FPL has got me to the point where I can't even enjoy watching the PL anymore. I'm a Man United fan but cheering for Liverpool to score just in case it bumps up Firmino's score lol.

Being a fan of ur team should always be the driving force. I captained Salah and wanted a liverpool win despite havin kane. In the end it paid off 🙂

Right there with you man, played casually last year, but this year I've become addicted. It's a weird feeling isn't it.
