Fantasy Football Scout Cup – Second Round Draw

This afternoon we can reveal the 256 managers to make it through to the second round of our open-to-all Fantasy Premier League Cup competition.

Round one took place in  Gameweek 30, where the average score was a record-low 41 points and saw six former champions depart.

Sleepysi, who has a top 5,000 rank, was beaten comfortably 45-28 by BowenArrow, who is 39,664 places behind him. Similarly, Gribude, who is in 8,221 spot, also lost to a lower-placed manager, with Kirton Hoops’s 53,933-ranked troops prevailing.

Mark (rank 47,814) also succumbed to a giant killer with 458,382-placed Khumz defeating him.

Goonerdave’s 40-point score was not enough to overcome 2 Girls 1 Shlup’s tally of 53, while my 1,790-ranked squad lost out narrowly 43-42 to Balldontlie (47,758).

CMIFLFC is another former champion to miss out, having lost 48-34 to Jon Nurse. This was unsurprising given their overall positions, with Jon Nurse in 6,030 place, while CMIFLFC was among the five lowest-ranked managers in the first round  and is currently languishing in 1,975,888 spot.

The four ex-winners to progress to Gameweek 31’s second round include reigning champion TH14 (rank 8,130) who has been handed a kind draw against 224,940 placed Ilovebaps.

A Manager Has No Name has an evenly-matched encounter with horlicks esq. Just 1,284 separates these top 3,000-ranked managers.

However, MCH (rank 99,442) has a far tougher task as he squares up to 1,570 placed The dinkum donuts. Wild Rover is also a second round underdog, as his 99,962-ranked side sits 66,404 places behind opponent Gloria Kanchelskis.

Another manager facing a tough draw is 67,157-ranked graqfreak, who takes on the competition’s highest placed manager thisisdiz, who moves up to 38th spot after scoring an impressive 61 points in Gameweek 30.

Other notable match-ups include a veteran poster clash between colonel shoe (rank 55,207) and Optimus (296,931).

Following his victory over former champion GoonerDave, 2 girls 1 Shlup will be hoping to claim another high profile victim when he takes on our resident tech expert matzi11a (rank 2,662).

The full first round results can be found here, while the second round draw can be found here.

    No Man U defender but how's this bunch looking as a 3-4-3 for 32 onwards:

    Lloris, Fab
    Alonso, Mee, Fernandez, Simpson, Dummett
    Salah, Mahrez, Willian, Mkhi, King
    Auba, Kaku, Firm

    No point using the freehit chip here? Who do you bring in?

    (Courtois, Elliot)
    Robertson Daniels Shindler (Ota Mee)
    Salah Walcott* c.moting (Mahrez Hazard)
    Firmino Niasse (Kane**)

    1 ft

    make sense to do Kane + Haz out for a striker(who? mounie?) + Stanislas?

    Repost. In a weird situation here. Thoughts on this?

    Looks like RLC will play some part this weekend.

    A) Sell Sterling, lose .2 (play RLC and get 9 men out)
    B) Keep value in Sterling (sell RLC and get 8 men out)

    1. Going Home
      • 12 Years

      Or just make a different change, play RLC and still get 9 men out?

        Wanting Stan and Shaq doesn't let me do that unfortunately

          Then make that part of your OP. You must have another mid with no fixture this week? If not, you don't need Stan and Shaq (plus you definitely don't need those two, think about your team man!)

            Sterling Hazard Salah RLC Walcott
            Firmino Quaner Kane.

            I see Shaq and Stan a perfect fit for Sterling and Hazard and they are the only two players I want to get in realistically for a -4

    Lots of people considering if players are worth a hit vs having no player at all. I'm here considering whether Stanislas is worth a FT or if it's better to collect 0 points instead.

    1. Deulofail
      • 8 Years
      6 years, 2 months ago

      Weird. My post is cut off...

      If I save the FT I can use 2FTs in GW32 and play WC in GW33 (I'll likely do this regardless). The question then becomes something like:

      A) Stanislas (WBA) + Stanislas (wat)
      B) 9.1m City midfielder (eve)

      RMT suggestes that A will get me 7.92pts and B will get me only 5.1pts (Sterling). Do you think it's an easy decision to choose A, or would you be considering B too?

      1. FC Hakkebøf
        • 7 Years

        I got the point regardless 😀 . But it is probably more fun playing Stanislas

          More fun + more sensible. That rare easy decision, and I'm trying to find ways to make it harder 😆

            Bigger question is whether you'd do it for a hit.

            Probability weight chances of Sterling starting GW32

      😆 I'm sat here with 2 FTs already, and wondering if its even worth using a transfer as I know i'll have to use another one to get out the player i'll likely put in

      Actually as your WC'ing in 33, you could save the transfer for a better gw32 player (Arsenal/Manu?) Who could easily outscore Stanislas +2

        • 8 Years
        6 years, 2 months ago

        Yeah that's what I'm considering (see my reply to myself). I'll likely get Mkhi with one FT, so the other FT could be any other 9.1m midfielder, but I'm not sure it's worth gamble.

    Final FH team:

    1. First picks was made based on betting probabilities and the highest ceiling
    2. Secondly team was adjusted based on the regular eye test.

    Conclusion:

    Butland
    VVD Daniels* PVA
    Salah Zaha Shaqiri Stanislas
    Firmino Benteke Wilson

    Subs: Pickford Walcott Baines Schindler

    *Still considering taking a punt on Smith

      Be careful with Daniels - he's been subbed off early 3/4 of his last home games, once before 60mins and the other two only-just-after. Ake's stats are much better. Smith might be a decent gamble but is also a slight rotation risk. Also, I'm not 100% sure Benteke will start.

      35 blanks: southampton if they beat wigan
      spurs or swansea
      chelsea or leicester
      mun or brighton

      so likely to be spurs, mun, chelsea/lei blank only.

    Been planning for 31 for a good few weeks hence i have 10 playing with no hits taken (as yet) WC'ing for 32, so which do you think is the best move here?

    Lossl (Elliot)
    Van Dijk, Daniels, Baines, Bauer (Alonso)
    Salah, Walcott, Milivojevic (Son, Sterling)
    Firmino, Wilson (Kane)

    0FT 0.7ITB

    A - Sterling > Stanislas -4 (full 11 fielded)
    B - Kane > one of Mounie/King/Benteke? Which? -4 (full 11 fielded)
    C - Both of the above for a -8 giving 12 (1 bench player available)
    D - Do nothing and no hits or something else...if so what?

    Any thoughts much appreciated, thanks.

            No Sterling is not currently in my WC plans for 32 if i do get a City attacker will be D.Silva i think. Stanislas looks a better option than King i think with Wilson already up front? Can handle losing 0.1 or even 0.2 on Kane if it happens.

      Similar story here 20k down to 65k last month partially to do with planning for 31 i guess but all chips still intact whereas none of ML rivals do, most have used at least 2 of the 4 available (including the 2nd WC). In 2nd and 4th in my ML's so should be back on top real soon 😉 GL.

    For the next two fixtures, pick two (2FT):

    A) Kane -> Mounie
    B) Ogbonna/Hunemeier -> A.Smith
    C) Ogbonna/Hunemeier -> PVA
    D) Ogbonna/Hunemeier -> Baines

    Would this be mad to do for a -8?

    Kane -> Mounie
    Mkhi -> Shaqiri/Stanislas
    Son -> Walcott (if fit)
    Chilwell -> Baines (already have 3 Liverpool)

      Not crazy, if it gets you 11 players and Walcott is confirmed fit. If you WC in 32, it's not the end of the world.

        I'm on 7 currently for this week as is, to get 11 I'd have to do a -8...

    Play McArthur or bench and bring in zaha/shaq? If the latter which one thanks

      If you have five midfielders/seven attackers with a game this week with McArthur, then I wouldn't be bringing in yet another attacking player from a pap team

    Does Kane drop again tonight? Need to make a call on King/Wilson/Benteke if so

      No Mounie / Tosun in your thoughts?

        No - I can see Bournemouth scoring well this weekend and Benteke with Zaha always an option. Have Walcott and, frankly, that's one Everton player too many and Huddersfield failed to score v 80 mins of ten men

    So Kane only out for 4 weeks now. Likely to return for DGW34. Could make holding 2 frees going into GW34 very handy

      Wc 32 bank 33 2ft for 34 is my initial plan

        I agree, i think this news pushes us more towards the GW32 WC over the GW33 WC

      Yep. Now hopefully we can get another 0.5 of price falls over the coming weeks lol

        I think thats optimistic, another 0.2 or 0.3 at the most would be my estimate

          Hoping for one or two more this week and then everyone getting rid over IB (I will take 0.2 happily)

            true, although a lot of the transfers will be free hits this week and wildcards next week which don't contribute to price drops

      WC32 a no brainer now for those who were unsure of 32 vs 33. Enables using all the Kane cash right away.

      I was one who was unsure since I have 3 LEI already (Mahrez Vardy Simpson) who all have a nice 32 fixture, and was thinking of holding until 33 but the Kane injury has accelerated my wildcard to 32.

      I can sell Van Dijk and (maybe) Firmino amongst others who I wouldn't have minded in 32 which is a bit of a risk but one worth taking.

        Spot on. I guess the only fly in the ointment is if he returns ahead of schedule!

    WC32 Draft:

    DDG Hennessey
    [Ota/Christensen] Bavies VVD [Chilwell/Naughton] Mee
    Salah [Dilva/Sterl/Sane] Son Mahrez [Willian/???]
    Firmino Auba Barnes

    Thoughts?

    Disappointing to be out until next month but injuries are part of the game. Will do everything I can to get back out there asap.
