Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Frustration For Arnautovic

Target men emerge from the bench to share the spoils at the London Stadium as Peter Crouch and Andy Carroll put the much-fancied Marko Arnautovic in the shade.

Arnautovic boasted nine goals and five assists from his last 14 Gameweek starts before Monday’s game and had been involved in 54% of West Ham’s goals over the season.

True to form, Arnautovic was a threat throughout the clash with Stoke and was only denied a goal when adjudged marginally offside after guiding home an Aaron Creswell centre.

The Austrian had fired another two shots from inside the box before that incident but could not break the resolve of his former club. Instead it took the introduction of Carroll to rescue a point for West Ham.

The blank will come as a major blow to the 5.7% who took Arnautovic into the match as a single Gameweek asset, particularly in light of his schedule of fixtures to come.

West Ham have a Double Gameweek 37 – with match-ups at Leicester City and a home encounter with Manchester United. But, before that, they go to Arsenal and host Manchester City in matches that seem unlikely to give up too many opportunities for goals and points.

Nonetheless, given that Arnautovic offers a Gameweek 35 fixture away to the Gunners, he will likely be held and may continue to attract extra investment. He has already gained just over 8,500 owners since Saturday’s deadline.

Arsenal have kept two clean sheets over their last three on home turf, though incredibly those are their only shut-outs in 15 Gameweek outings.

In addition, Arsene Wenger’s side remain distracted by their Europa League campaign and again look set to rest players in Sunday’s fixture given that the semi-final first leg tie with Atletico Madrid arrives four days later.

The bigger issue for Arnautovic could be the availability of both Carroll and Chicharito, who were introduced on Monday as David Moyes chased the game.

Should they be considered for starts, Arnautovic could move back alongside the fit-again Manuel Lanzini in support behind a lone striker.

Hart at fault once more

Elsewhere, Joe Hart’s slip for Stoke’s goal could put an end to his four-match run of starts – it was the keeper’s second error leading to a goal over four appearances since replacing Adrian in Gameweek 30.

At just 4.2, Hart could yet provide the cheapest active goalkeeper option for Double Gameweek 37 but his security of starts and points potential are certainly both in question.

Meanwhile, Aaron Cresswell continues to catch the eye on the left side of the Hammers’ back three, having produced four shots on goal and eight crosses – a match-high in both cases. One of those deliveries supplied Carroll’s goal to give Cresswell a seventh assist of the season – a tally matched only by Ben Davies among FPL defenders.

More save points for Butland

At the opposite end of the pitch, Stoke City’s Jack Butland is now a short-term target ahead of Gameweek 35.

He and the Potters line-up were auditioning for spots in Free Hit squads ahead of a crucial home meeting with in-form Burnley.

Carroll’s late effort denied Butland a clean sheet, leaving him with just one in the last nine Gameweeks. However, over that spell, Butland has made 50 saves – including five on Monday – gathering 13 extra points, that’s more than any other goalkeeper in both cases.

In attacking areas, Stoke’s options surely remain limited to Xherdan Shaqiri, who appears the most likely to generate points from his No 10 role.

An assist for the Crouch goal was the playmaker’s eighth of the campaign and Shaqiri also claimed two bonus points, his first since Gameweek 28.

Indeed, the Swiss midfielder is now without a goal in six starts having struck three in three Gameweeks prior to that drought.

Opinions on WC team. Playing major ML catchup.

    Pope | Dubravka
    Monreal | VVD | Kompany | Long | Yedlin
    Kenedy | Zaha | Sterling | Salah | Cork
    Firmino | Aubameyang | Jesus

Neither. Son will come in for Lamela and that's it for the attacking rotation imo.

I think this season we have been driven by fear of the likes of Kane, Aguero, Lukaku, and to a certain extent Hazard to haul. We have also been waitng in vain for Alono.
Yes, Kane and Aguero have had a couple of big hauls, but not nearly as often as expected. Hope this will be reflected in their price next season.

Kane is on for another 30 goals, very unlikely his price will be any lower. Max 0.5m lower.

If City don't buy another striker then it's unlikely Aguero's price will lower either.

The City second striker is a difficult one. Aguero is world class but he is injury prone. Jesus isn’t quite there yet. He was anonymous against Liverpool in the CL. I think they need a more accomplished second striker to win the PL and CL in one season.

      2. Cok3y5murf

It's the points that matter, not the goals. Assists count too. In points, Kane is only matching Eriksen/KDB and is over 2m more expensive. Hope they bring it down to 11.5, that would be a fair price.

    2. SAY MY NAME
      • 7 Years

They'll still be premium prices, maybe aguero a bit lower, but true that to this point they haven't delivered as much as we would have liked, wouldn't expect any drops

Regardless of his dip in form, and lack of returns of late, 7.0 for Alonso is a steal, his attacking threat is there to see, paired with the chance of clean sheets, he's a great option, i havnt owned him myself, because of Chelsea's form, but look how good he was last season

City ongoing is a tricky one imo and I am a non FH35 WC 36 BB37. You have Bravo 4app away from winners medal. You also have Foden and Diaz 2apps away and Mendy 1app away. Will Pep be influenced by this?? You would think 1st team plays this weekend and 2nd game of 37 as last home game. I'll take a -8/-12 this weekend to bring in 3 City including Aguero though!!

As long as Azpi is rested vs Burnley or Chelsea concede not too damaging! Most owners will have kept him through is irritating 1 pointers but really was likely to get rested vs Burnley anyway

    FH team for GW35:

    3-4-3

    GK: Ederson
    DEF: Tarkowski, Baines & Robertson
MID: Mane, Salah (C), Zaha & D. Silva
FWD: Tosun (Punt), Jesus & Aubameyang

Subs: Foster, Bolasie, Lowton & Long

Tosun is my punt for the week, either him or Wood, however with Burnley playing away I've opted for Tosun. I've selected 3 players from Man City & Liverpool to form the core of my team and who I think are the most likely to start (fingers crossed).

    Any thoughts?

Pretty decent. Only one that jumps out is D.Silva.
      I think he's a risky non-starter

I like the Tosun punt - I went with Firmino rather than Mane but pretty similar.

Yeah I am at lockerheads over Mane or Firmino. Just think Mane offers that bit more of attacking threat (personal opinion).

          Yup. You aren't wrong.
I just knew I wanted to play a 3-4-3 and I have my other 3 mids picked.

If D Silva is in the country at the end of the week, surely he starts. Celebration at their home ground, for the team and the fans, Silva captained the team a lot in Kompany's absence so should be there. After that he can go off to Spain for a few weeks to be with family.

Yeah but I also think they'll want to keep the team momentum going to break some of the established prem records... D. Silva is key to those I reckon.

      Double Arsenal ?

Must just be me then as I've seen about 10 FH teams in the last half hour with the same.

Is Iwobi a good option for FH35? Struggling to pick 3 arsenal players I want. Auba, Iwobi and Mustafi atm
