The ScoutCast – FPL Launch Reaction

Fantasy Premier League Launch day is here and ScoutCast duo Joe and David have produced our first ever summer broadcast to offer their initial thoughts on the game and the prices.

Early doors, they couldn’t stop themselves from asking the big question: ‘Should we have Mohamed Salah in our teams when he costs £13.0m?’ You’ll have to listen in to find out their feelings on that.

Elsewhere, the reclassification of key attacking players has altered early strategies while the pair also name their over-priced assets before picking out some potential bargains.

Finally, they stick their necks out by declaring the three premium players likely to make their Gameweek 1 line-ups.

As usual you can get an audio version right here or via the first player below.

Don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel to get notification of our future videos to come over the summer and during the new season.

At least it’s not template right?

    Fabianski Begovic
    Douglas Morrison Robertson Alonso Alexander-Arnold
    Sessegnon Neves Jota Salah Ramsey
    Zaha Arnautovic Aguero

What's the points of not being template if you get 10-15 less points each gw?

3/5 of your midfield are from promoted teams. Unnessecary risks there IMO.

    Let the tinkering commence!

    DDG - 4.0
    Mendy - Coleman - Ward - Daniels - Doherty
    Mane - Sane - Micki - Lingard - Stephens
    Kane - Zaha - Tosun

Can afford him or Walker... tempted to go Mendy & keep 0.5 for a rainy day

Mendy is also much more attacking. Walker is almost RCB
But don't know whether pep risk playing mendy each week

Debating on what to do with my Mickey D's WC team:
    Kane Lukaku Griez
    Coutinho Modric Claesson (Isco Quintero)
    Toby Miranda Lovren Pavard (Carvajal)
    Courtois (Mvogo)

Debating about bringing in Neymar, even though I already have 2 Brazil and not sure who will win Brazil/Belgium. I'd say there are 3 options:

    A) Griez/Isco/Quintero -> Neymar/Lingard/Fodder
    B) Isco/Quintero/Carvajal -> Pogba/Trippier/Fodder
    C) Isco/Quintero/Carvajal -> Lingard/Trippier/Fodder

I think Griezmann could score tomorrow, but kind of scared to not own Neymar. Pogba has also not delivered, but still see potential there. I guess the safer option would be to go with C and store some money in the bank for semi-finals.

Very similar to mine except I have Thiago Silva instead of Miranda and Neymar instead of Lukaku...Which I do think is much better, sorry

Very interesting, good suggestion! I'm still hesitant to transfer Lukaku out, but I supposed I'd rate Griez > Lukaku. How about Lukaku/Isco/Quintero -> Neymar/Lingard/Fodder?

Can you get a playing defender if you sell Carvajal instead? I did that myself and kept Quintero.

Difficult. But I'd go with a cheaper mid than Lingard or a fodder in defense before taking a -4 hit, that's for sure.

Thanks 420. Definitely not taking a hit. Not sure of any decent mids cheaper than Lingard. Will look around, but I'm OK with having some fodder now since we only have one chance to sub in QF.

Costa a much better pick as long as he starts imo

Neves could get a jammy brace on the opening day and he's not a bad option for 5m but I don't think he'll be a reliable source of points.

I'm going Tom Cairney (5m, Fulham) who I think is more nailed than Costa and more attacking than Neves, decent compromise.

Jota in my team currently as he's apparently an option up front too.

Worth dropping Hazard for Neymar or just take out the three duds I have? - any suggestions?
I like Trippier or Maguire for Carvajal.
Not feeling great about any of the available mids..

    Alisson (4.0)
    Thiago Granqvist Lovren Pavard (Carvajal)

who knows , he might feel he has a point to prove , but it will be interesting to see how the new manager fits him in , i read an article the other day stating that Mkhi will be more nailed as Ozil could be dropped for harder games where the manager will need players tracking back more , Mkhi is cheaper so there's that too

I think he could be if you pick him at the right time. Was the least bad of the Germany players in that last World Cup game, created some good chances. He needs other players to step up and do the dirty work, I don't think Özil, Ramsey and Xhaka in the same team can be balanced enough. Need to know more about how Emery's gonna set us up.

    My first draft:

    Fabianski Begovic
Mendy Trent AA Daniels Cedric Wan-Bissaka (who I do think will play as he was excellent end of last season)
Salah Hazard Jota Deulofeu Masuaka (if he fits in Pellegrini's system)
    Aguero Firmino Barnes/King

Thinking right now I'd do Hazard to De Bruyne after GW1 and then Daniels to Kolasinac after GW2 assuming he's first choice LB for Emery as at £5.0m he seems very good value. Will likely bring in Aubameyang for Aguero after a few weeks as well once Jesus starts to get back into the picture after a likely extended break. What do you think?

    1. lugs
      • 6 Years

Wan-Bissaka lost his place to Joel Ward at the end of last season , Ward isen't in FPL at the moment as he was out of contract i think , but he only signed a new contract yesterday so should appear again on FPL maybe tonight, so that's bad news for Wan-Bissaka owners

I realise he lost his place to Ward but he was still excellent when Ward was out and he played the last game of the season and was again fantastic against West Brom. I just think if he has a good pre season he'll probably displace Ward as he seems good enough to me from what I've seen of him and he is already putting in very mature performances for a 19 year old.

i agree he was excellent last season , i had him for a while in the Sky game and he served me very well , i hope you're right and does win the position off Ward cos he's a steal at just 4mil , i might get him too as a shot to nothing fodder , as i currently have Jazz Richards as my fodder and he doesn't exactly fill me with confidence that he will play either , plus he's shite lol

I would keep it as it is, can't see much more you could do.
If it was my team, I would probably change from Hazard to Griezmann as I fancy him to do better in this round and you just have Pavard as France coverage... but that's only my feeling.

Your team is almost the same as mine, but I have no transfers left...
      Courtois / Pickford
      Strinic / Trippier / Miranda / Granqvist / (Pavard)

Quite a few reasons for me:
        - Salah a far better finisher than Mane. 17.5% shot conversion rate versus a 29.1% shot conversion rate
        - Mane plays as a 10 and comes regularly deeper, Salah basically plays as our striker and off their back line
        - Salah had double the chances of Mane last season, 110 to 57
        - Salah creates slightly more chances than Mane as well at 0.25 xA per 90 to 0.21
        - Salah's chances generally were higher quality than Mane's last season
        - Salah scored 32 and still missed 23 "big chances" last season so he could score even more than 32 this season with now Keita, Fabinho and hopefully Fekir behind him over Henderson, Gini and Milner
        - Basically our entire system is based around Salah and making the most of his pace and attacking quality, Mane basically is more of a play maker in the system now than a goalscorer.

Ezequiel Schelotto and Matt Doherty starters for next season? Bargain picks if they are.

As a brighton fan, happy with my team name “That’s Groß“ 🙂

      Courtois / Pickford
      Strinic / Trippier / Miranda / Granqvist / (Pavard)
      Modric / Coutinho / (Rakitic) / Quintero* / C. Sanchez*
      Hazard / Kane / (Griezmann)

With this team, do you think -4 would be a good hit to change from Pavard/Rakitic/Griez to Pavard/Rakitic/Mbappé/Golovin?

I keep constantly changing my mind on the two options...

Thinking Sass to Cairney and Kun to Kane if Harry shows up before September.
Have a look at Tosuns opening fixtures bud.
