Best Spurs players to sign on FPL in 2018/19 – Complete Members’ Analysis

2017/18 was a season of mixed fortunes for Fantasy owners of Tottenham Hotspur players.

Harry Kane matched his best-ever single-season haul for league goals (technically beating it after the Premier League goals accreditation panel retrospectively awarded him Christian Eriksen’s strike in the 2-1 win over Stoke City), but will also be remembered for frustrating blanks in home matches against Swansea City, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Hove Albion, West Ham United and Huddersfield Town. A fair share of Fantasy Premier League managers will, meanwhile, still be ruing their “Kanexit” strategy in December when the England striker punished his deserting owners with back-to-back hat-tricks.

Christian Eriksen‘s total of 11 strikes (one subsequently scratched) was his best goal haul in a Premier League season, but the Danish international recorded only half of the assists (ten) he had managed in 2016/17.

Dele Alli scored 50 fewer FPL points in 2017/18 than he had managed the previous campaign, with his goal tally (nine) exactly halved. Even Son Heung-min‘s goal (12) and assist (eight) returns, as impressive as they were, were down on 2016/17.

Spurs’ wing-backs, most notably Ben Davies and Kieran Trippier, coupled their clean sheet prospects with regular attacking returns but were at the mercy of Mauricio Pochettino’s irksome rotation policy on the flanks; not one of the Lilywhites’ four full-backs started more than 26 league matches in 2017/18.

The north London club are, at least, a comfortingly unchanging presence amid this summer of big-money moves and new manager recruitment. At the time of writing, Spurs were one of only two Premier League clubs – the other being Burnley – who have yet to sign a player during the current transfer window.

Pochettino will be taking charge of Spurs for the fifth successive season, meanwhile, and we can expect the same brand of quick-pressing, attacking football he has cultivated in his four years at White Hart Lane. Although Pochettino occasionally rolled out a three-man backline in 2017/18, we will inevitably see more of the Argentinean coach’s preferred 4-2-3-1 system again this season.

In-depth data on Spurs’ season is available in the Members’ Area, while Fantasy Football Scout members can also read our detailed analysis of the key statistics in the article below.

Yup.. I'm swapping him out.. want a city defender but ederson seems the only other viable option but he is competing with the 4.5ers who could easily match him with save points. Tricky

    Ederson - (Boric).

Robertson - Bailey - Mee - Holgate - Wan Bisu.

    Salah - Sane - (Hughes) - (Cairney) - (Rall).

    Kun - Firmino - Zaha.

As time progresses Kun will become Aub or Sane will be sacrificed as a virgin for some other Mid

I'm debating a similar team lol. So I like it.. regards ederson.. can't see him getting save points at all gw 2 to 7... So even if he gets CS's in all those games someone like Patricio/Foster/Fabianski could match him with 2-3 CS's and Baps/Save points

Btw.. I love the idea of Cairney Ralls and Hughes(with Kennedy replacing one in 5 weeks).. all brilliant players and under priced at 5.0.

Isn't Azpi better value than a 6.5 midfielder?

    1. Valar(Keith)
      • 14 Years
      5 years, 9 months ago

If you leave him in for the whole season and expect saari to keep 15+ CS's then maybe. However if you play the fixtures with Jota/Maddison/Richarlison they could outscore him..also if you get a 4.5er/5er in defense and they keep 10+ CSs you could use the price difference between azpi and said budget defender to upgrade your 6.5 mid.. so basically it's not so cut and dry

    A) Bailly Richarlison Mkhi + 0.5M ITB

    B) Shaw Cairney Mane

    And why? Thanks!

A, I think the United defense is the main difference here. Shaw is only a short term pick.

    2. subhojit123

      A definitely.

Bailly - Not certain about ManU defense starters. If he starts then its great
Richarlison - Was in terrific form at Watford when Silva was in charge. Silva may shuffle everton attack to suit richarlison.definitely one to watch out for.
Mikhi - after first 2 GW, easy run of fixtures for arsenal. If you are having aguero up front and not auba, then mikhi is best way to get into arsenal attack. sure assists.

shaw - not sure if he will start or how he fits in Mou's plans based on last season
cairney - not the easiest of fixtures. also new to premier league. give him sometime.
mane - missed a couple of easy chances against city today. However, Mane is deadly anyways. If you can afford salah then u dont need mane.

No major changes needed, I would consider Kenedy to other 5.0 / 4.5 and Zanka to ? imo there might be better 4.5 def's

          • 6 Years

Hughes and Cedric are viable options. Noble/Cairney also 5.0 and both should have penalty duties. Maybe 4.5 Everton def if they don't buy any. Williams / Jagielka. Williams were totally s*** last season but before that he were very good value at Swansea.

So, Mendy was involved in the later stages of the WC but is nevertheless included in the Man City tour squad (assume it is to get up to speed with things) .... but not actually playing in a game so far but exactly the same as all the other WC players - and this is seen as a negative ?

It looks like Mendy is being accelerated back and earlier than the other WC players

          ... so ... stupid comment? 😉

Nice, bit different than most of the teams. There were some prediction that Schlupp will lose his LM position when Milivojevic comes back and McArthur goes into LM place. Personally I would avoid Bailly not 100% nailed doesn't have any attacking threat.

Some thoughts from Arsenal training camp in Singapure:
Sokratis and Chambers together as CB. Aubameyang was again utilised on the left side of the attack, rather than as central striker - even though Alexandre Lacazette was playing on the opposite team.
