The ScoutCast Episode 265 – Difference

This week the ScoutCast crew are determined to bust the myth that they share identical strategies.

Long-term maverick Luke returns to reveal his freshly Wildcarded team which bravely went into Gameweek 2 without Manchester City’s hat-trick hero Sergio Aguero and last season’s points-scoring sensation Mohamed Salah.

In stark contrast, Az is continuing his march up the rankings thanks to his faith in this premium pair, and his resolve in resisting broadsheet tittle-tattle hinting that the Argentinian would be dropped.

David is also beating a different drum and keen to explain the reasons behind his chequered FPL history and how his fortunes already look better this time around.

That leaves me as the only dullard representative, armed with a bunch of ownership statistics, a goals imminent table and a dubious ‘camping’ excuse to explain my recent poor captaincy decision.

Our differing views across a range of key issues facing Fantasy Premier League manages ahead of Gameweek 3 are aired.

Our assessment of Chelsea and Arsenal assets ahead of their favourable fixtures is top of our list. And we also ponder whether Spurs’ players can compete as assets this season and indulge in some bargain hunting up front.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

Pogba is on +93 on fplstats with a delta of 4000.

He should rise to 8.2m over the next couple of nights, right?

I'm looking to make my 0.1 profit and get rid next week!

    Thanks

Really hard to call, if he doesn't rise Friday, people may have moved on after Saturday Games

Arsenal and City play and the sheep rule the market

There seems to be a few key decisions on the WC that are looming over those who’ve played it. One is Mane + cash and Auba. Another less discussed is the ultimate enabler option at 5.0-5.5, which could slot in anywhere.

Who do you like most and why?

    1) Ings
    2) Jimenez
    3) Fraser
    4) Brooks
    5) Kante
    6) Neves
    7) Periera
    8) Monreal/Bellerin
    9) Coleman
    10) PvA

When you list them out, not grouped by positions, I like Ings and PvA the most. Ings seems to have the most potential attacking, and PvA has the fixtures and threat, CPL for me have looked quite complete.

I agree that your choices are the Best options, But I am not sure it is fair to compare PvA and Ings for example. In PvA you can cover (a lot of) his points with a nailed 4m player, while Ings’ alternative is a 4.5 not nailed player

this player is a “play every week player”, so I’m doing my best to simplify it to be viewed as the best 10th, maybe 11th player in your team.

I see where you’re coming from, no view can be perfect.

Agree that it is sometimes a good idea to view things from a different angle and I think your post is helpful.
I’m just saying that having Ings play as your 10/11th player with AWB on bench would give you an extra 0.5 to play with compared with having PvA playing with Kamara on bench - and AWB is a better sub than Kamara imo.

Agreed on all accounts. WB has left us in an interesting position as we have to see through his price tag and treat him as much more than bench fodder.

Jimenez is perfect. Playing in a good team, scored a goal and had another sitter in 1st match, could have a goal and 2 assists in GW 2. What else can you ask from a 5.5 striker?

Fraser is also a great option, the only bright point of my season so far. Very attacking in attacking team and on set pieces.

Also expect some clean sheets and attacking returns from Monreal and PVA in coming weeks.

Wolves are an unknown quantity with some not so good fixtures, I wouldn’t give them much yet. Jimenez however seems a player with the size and control to adapt well to the PL, brought in for a reason

Fraser on set pieces? Good to know. Brooks looks one to watch too. Eye for goal and seems right in the thick of things. Bournemouth is a gift in that they attack at every chance, however poor they can be from time to time.

Interesting when you list them out like that.
Agree with you on Palace, although PvA's appeal is weakened by most also having Wan-Bissaka.

For me Ings or Jimenez are the best options. Reckon both will prove to be very good value.

We need more time to see if Kante can profit in Fantasy terms from his change of position

It’s easy to be blinded by position, so it’s nice to see them like that. They are fairly easy to slot into any team without much structure change, so viewed as a whole you might see something you didn’t before.

on WC , i currently have 1, 3 & 7 out of those , Ings will be first on my bench most weeks , Periera is the best 5mil defender imo , and Fraser is cracking value who scored points for me in the first 2 game weeks so i definitely want to keep him

Aguero/Auba and Robo/Mendy/Alonso team then? Great enablers all around. Ings seems tough to have to leave on the bench most weeks.

you can have a 5.5mid/fwd or a 5m defender. thats how it works.
given the existence of AWB, 4th defenders basically cost 0.5 more as you lose the opportunity cost (benefit in this case) of having a 4m bench fodder

Yep, I’d say there’s 9.5 to do with as you like for 2 positions.

Hoping to get over WB’s price tag myself and go with him as a set and forget 4.0 (mostly) over their great fixtures.

      I’m guessing he will outscore him by: 2g + 3a + 10baps + 2CS + 4games. 12 + 9 + 10 + 8 + 8 points === 47 points over the season.
      Well worth the 1m.

He’d basically only need a bit more than half of that to be worth it, so I think he definitely will be worth the extra money.

TAA has started off slowly, his final delivery has been poor but he has some set pieces and if you look back at last season their underlying stats are not too dissimilar.

If the early season form continues Robertson will be worth the extra but I can see TAA improving on his delivery

however one of arsenals problems is they have no natural wide players and ball carriers (except iwobi). when either mktarian or ozil play they drift into the centre or look for space, so bellerin doesnt have anyone to work with on the wing in the build up. he is essentially asked to be both a winger and defender at the same time and is overworked. Alonso/mendy ran riot as a result. his best season was working in tandem with Walcott and since then arsenal have attacked more down the left anyway. its going to take some time for emery to work with the players and turn them back into a top 4 team and the balance of the team is part of that. if he gets it right in a way which unleashes bellerin he will be a good buy at that price. but dont expect it to happen this side of xmas.

on the watchlist but there are better choices from city/ars/liv, and then you have davies/trippier who are objectively better options to go with if you can find the 0.5 more.

Anyone got any thoughts on a Lossl/Hamer keeper combo?

One will always play, fixtures aren't too bad up to Christmas, Lossl was decent for bonus last year.

Not so sure reports from folk suggest Lossl is pants and don't see too many baps for em

          Improving it if anything

The Liverpool attack is absolutely terrifying to try and stop from an opposing team point of view... unless you're City

      2. Clintymints
        • 15 Years

Definitely affecting. Firm comes pretty deep with Keita driving at the defense + it also leaves space for Salah and Mane to run into

He will be in the box for attempts but apart from that he might assist more

Maybe give him one more week with the fixture but Mane is getting more points for the same price pretty much as a striker most times

Question for any West Ham fans here.

I'm a Canadian and listen to a number of football pods, and a common theme seems to be that no matter what happens on the pitch, fans will still be unhappy.

If there are any Hammers on here would you mind briefly explaining what is going on at your club that is causing such an issue between ownership and fans.

    Thanks

Might be limited audience at this time. But I think the only thing that would satisfy WH fans is if a V-1 rocket impacted the field at Upton Park this season as it did in 1944. https://londonist.com/2016/02/the-day-a-bomb-fell-on-the-pitch-at-upton-park

Already used 2 FT this week (made wrong decision on Kamara, now 1.5ITB), worth -4 to make the following changes??

    1. Replace Shaw by LIV/TOT defence to avoid missing match ?

    2. Upgrade 4.5m bench MF to Frasers?

    3. Change Kamara to Ings?

if nothing to do, may keep Shaw on starting. Kamara's chance to be nailed?

    Current Squad:

    Pickford

    Stones-Shaw-Tarkowski-Alonso

    Salah-Mane-Bsilva-Richarlison

    Aguero-Zaha

Kamara noth worth hit. Shaw i have to. He has been observere driving to training. It was a knock, witch u can see on youtube, on his assist to Lukaku, Brighton vs. United.

desirable not essential, Walcott will score just as well probably less consistent/more explosive though

I just haven't watched him enough to know how good he actually is. You reckon he will be consistent this season? Last season he dryed up quite a lot in terms of FPL but obvs he is in a better side now and back with his old manager.

Bobby > Zaha (Zaha’s fixtures and Bobby’s blanks)

Cairney > Pedro (form and fixtures vs Cairney)

I think Pedro is a big rotation risk. Maddison is a better pick imo. I like the transfer of the 2 City mids myself but you need a decent bench player as he won't play every week.

Cairney Pedro maby. With Bobby, atleast u have money upfront. Players like Kane/Lacazette/Auba could be someone u want pretty soon. Easier transition with money already up top.
