The ScoutCast Episode 265 – Difference

This week the ScoutCast crew are determined to bust the myth that they share identical strategies.

Long-term maverick Luke returns to reveal his freshly Wildcarded team which bravely went into Gameweek 2 without Manchester City’s hat-trick hero Sergio Aguero and last season’s points-scoring sensation Mohamed Salah.

In stark contrast, Az is continuing his march up the rankings thanks to his faith in this premium pair, and his resolve in resisting broadsheet tittle-tattle hinting that the Argentinian would be dropped.

David is also beating a different drum and keen to explain the reasons behind his chequered FPL history and how his fortunes already look better this time around.

That leaves me as the only dullard representative, armed with a bunch of ownership statistics, a goals imminent table and a dubious ‘camping’ excuse to explain my recent poor captaincy decision.

Our differing views across a range of key issues facing Fantasy Premier League manages ahead of Gameweek 3 are aired.

Our assessment of Chelsea and Arsenal assets ahead of their favourable fixtures is top of our list. And we also ponder whether Spurs’ players can compete as assets this season and indulge in some bargain hunting up front.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

    After this week

Hazard & Auba will outscore Salah & Mane.

    Time to switch everyone!

Correct. I just can't see how a Liverpool double up through those fixtures will work. Chelsea & Arsenal will have field days in some of them and when they do it will inevitably be Hazard & Auba picking up the hauls!

What makes it inevitable? Hazard hasn't even started a game yet and it's possible Miky/Ozil/Lacazette could take points away from Auba

Ok, very likely. It is very likely that if Aresnal and Chelsea score a lot of goals then Auba & Hazard will haul.

Salah to Hazard during those fixtures (and upgrade a player with the rest of the money) looks a no brainer through this run.

You think Auba that gets 1 point less per goal and no points for clean sheet will outscore Salah the PL top scorer from last season?

    Pickford
    TAA Rudiger Tark
    Hazard Bilva Mane (c) Richarlison
    Laca Kun Tosun

    Bench: Boruc Cairney Chambers Peltier

Yeah I kinda agree maybe the Mendys and Alonsos could be considered but probably limited to 180
Heavy hitter is plus 200 for me but when you factor in cost yes they are heavy hitters.

    3. Dokdok666
      • 9 Years
      5 years, 9 months ago

No, they are called premium. A heavy hitter is usually a +10m player capable of big scores, i.e a heavy hitter

      1. Cok3y5murf
        • 7 Years
        5 years, 9 months ago

Don't understand how price is relevant for this term. Sterling was 8m last season and had about 7-8 double digit hauls.

Exactly this. I plan on having Hazard, Auba & Kun as my heavy hitters after this week.

I also own Pogba, Robertson, Mendy etc...but these are premium assets.

    4. DJDave1979
      • 9 Years
      5 years, 9 months ago

A heavy hitter to me is someone capable of multiple returns in a game so can hit 15-20 points and is a decent captaincy shout. They can land a blow on the opposition.

Mendy and Alonso, I would argue, are proving that they are heavy hitters. 6m CBs who might get a few headers to complement their clean sheets are solid players, but not heavy hitters.

      1. jia you
        • 7 Years
        5 years, 9 months ago

Yep, inclined to agree that VVD is a premium defender but Mendy is a heavy hitter 😉

    5. Patch
      • 6 Years
      5 years, 9 months ago

Maybe I am just a Casual but I thought the term "heavy hitters" referred to a player that many people were taking a hit to bring in (i.e. Alonso, Kun, Kane, Salah etc).

Rp - Gtg (wc)? - only worry is going mane-less.. not sure this is the week to do it.. who would you rather own this week mane or aguero?

Some of the issues raised already are around the weakness of the bench so will try take that into account.

    hart
    robertson - mendy - pva - alonso
    salah(c) - mkhi - richa
    auba - kün - ings

He may not even fall. He will be sold by a lot of wildcarders and wildcard transfers do not count towards price changes

        Probably this.
Even if he falls he will be on a double or triple rise the week after. On a WC so hope I am wrong about the fall not happening this week.

I think he will score this weekend. I have had him from the start and I think everybody expected Arsenal to struggle for the first two. As I say below, I am keeping him for another 3-5 games before making a decision.

This is insane. Why would you wildcard OUT the best attacking player on a team about to embark on a months-long series of amazing fixtures having held him for two of the 4 worst fixtures of the season?

        1. The Big Fella
          • 7 Years

Yes it is. I am keeping him for at least another 3-5 games before making a decision. People chase last week's points and don't look forwards and he hasn't scored yet and costs £11m. The only logical transfer I can think of is if people are doing Auba to Aguero in a straight swap.

Probably a stupid question, but I am presuming that if a penalty is taken and it hits the bar/post it does not go down as a 'penalty save' for the goalkeeper does it? Just a miss for the pen taker right?

Am I the only player on FFS that has sterling?

I will admit he is overpriced and I do slate him quite a lot as a player so not really sure why I have him.

Can see wolves testing then at the weekend but then there have easy home game so probs worth keeping. I do have Aguero as City cover though.

Would like Auba but unsurprisingly don't have the cash!

11.0m for someone who's not nailed on, and someone you'd rarely captain is too much. Could reinvest the money elsewhere.

David Silva looks much better value. He may be under-priced and as you point out Sterling is overpriced.

Dilva better value if plays. Sterling great attacking threat but overpriced. Play fantasy you must exploit the value not the best pointer and choose worst pointer.

Yes. Pounds for points and all that. Maybe will sell after the next home game. By selling him i can strengthen else where.

Think salah bit over priced also but nailed and will captain.

    Hi guys, had a terrible start to the season, and would appreciate some advice on this WC team;

    Fabri, Hamer

    Aguero, Zaha, Ings

    Thanks!

An alternative to Luiz could maybe be a Leicester defender?

Was actually looking at your team to squeeze in Alonso but it might mean weakening that great midfield.
Maybe Pereira from LEI instead of Luiz (still a bit of a punt though).
Or PVA? (wouldn't go Hennessey if you take this route though)

Hmmm... Pereira is one that I’ve been looking at, so definitely could be an option!

Saves a bit of cash as well!

PVA a bit pricey, I think... Do prefer the look of Hennesey to him, especially as well considering I’ve got AWB!

I've got Pereira and one of the few players i'm happy with! He got points even when pushed back to Full Back but hopefully will be put onto the wing again for some more games. Only concern there is clean sheets.

I'm not sure you have a keeper that is totally guaranteed to start. I'd want at least 1 who will (barring injury) play all 36.

Luiz to Sakho to get extra 0.5, palace have decent set of fixtures. Could use that to get another 4.5 gk who will start. Although it would be quite unfortunate if both fabi + hamer didn't start.

He's done well in FPL terms but they have two other good keepers and have conceded 5 in two defeats. It's not a banker in my opinion.

    Good morning FFS

Thoughts on the following , WC has been activated and also with 3 big hitters

    Hennessey Ryan
TAA Pereia S Cook Mendy Wan B
    Miki Pedro Salah Rich Hughes
    Aguero Kane Kamara

    with 0.1 ITB
Is it too risky to sway too far from the template ?
