How the Top 10k are set up for Double Gameweek 25

A large number of Fantasy Premier League managers in the top 10,000 have signed Sergio Aguero (£11.3m) for Double Gameweek 25.

Ominously, a chunk of those high-level players have also activated their Triple Captain chips too.

Manchester City striker Aguero has taken Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang‘s (£11.2m) place as the third most popular forward in the top echelon of the game.

Going into Gameweek 24, the Arsenal man was in 31% of teams in the top 10k, with Raul Jiménez (£6.5m) and Marcus Rashford (£7.7m) the only two ahead of him, on 59% and 91% respectively.

However, the allure of fixtures against Arsenal and Everton, although starts in both are not guaranteed, has persuaded 40% of the top 10k to ensure they have Aguero in their ranks.

Leroy Sané (£9.7m) remains the most popular of the Double Gameweek players in the top 10k, sitting in 63% of squads, up from 48.7%.

It looks as if Eden Hazard (£10.9m), who hauled against Huddersfield, was the fall-guy for those signing Sané, as his representation at the top level shrunk massively from 48.6% to 29.3% between Gameweeks 24 and 25.

The City man is the most-captained player in the top 10k, with 38.82% of the managers at that level handing him the armband. Given the decision of many to replace Hazard, who scored twice against Huddersfield, with Sané, the pressure is now on the German to deliver in his two outings.

Aguero is the second most-captained on 28.5%, with Richarlison (£6.8m) on 20% and Raheem Sterling (£11.3m) on 12.4%.

In total there are no more than four Double Gameweek assets in the squad of most popular players among the top 10,k – although only three of them are confirmed starters.

The fourth is Lucas Digne (£5.3m) who missed Everton’s first fixture of the Double Gameweek on Saturday through suspension.

The rest of FPL have taken a different approach to the Double Gameweek.

Aguero is owned by a smaller contingent when all six million players are considered but remains in the top three most popular forwards.

Sané and Richarlison are also present, but Digne is not. The most attractive defensive option for the Double Gameweek is Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson (£5.6m).

Crucially, the Double Gameweeks has not quite swayed the masses as much as it has the elite level players.

The most popular captain in overall in FPL this weekend is Mohamed Salah (£13.6m), with a 26.5% share. Aguero is second on 17.9%.

Meanwhile, the Triple Captain chip has received some attention among the top 10k with Manchester City playing twice.

The number of managers to have deployed that particular chip in or before Double Gameweek 25 jumped from 11.86% to 20.06%. That means 8.2% were brave enough to pull the trigger.

There were also some Triple Captain chips played across the wider world of FPL, but not on the same scale.

28.7% of managers overall had deployed the Triple Captain in the first 24 Gameweeks, that number increasing to 30.75% once Gameweek 25 was factored into the equation.

Aguero looks to have the most heavily backed in the Triple Captaincy, earning 51,000+ augmented armbands.

You will have also noticed that 2.15% of managers in the top 10k wielded their Free Hit chip this week too.

Above, we can see that even in these Gameweek-specific squads, managers have not gone overboard on the Double Gameweeks.

They are seven players in the Gameweek 25 Free Hit template, Aguero, Richarlison, Sané, Sterling, Gylfi Sigurdsson (£7.4m), Michael Keane (£4.9m) and Jordan Pickford (£5.0m).

My triple captains in recent years were somewhat dissapointing, so not expecting Sane to rip up trees but a gola or assist in each game would be nice.

Grilled kipper with poached egg on toast for brekfast, is this too posh for a Polak ?

If not I get maid to bring it to my bed at once.

Disappointing to get a red arrow with an 11 from Son and 7 from Bednarek yesterday. 4 combined from Patricio and Ings to go with them..

Selling Hazard sucked, Sane could score twice in w games though..

Sane, Sterling, Lindelof, Pogba, Rashford today - make the red become green!

Watching the PL highlights, and how was that possibly a Liuz goal ? The keeper had it covered and the ball went in the complete opposite direction ?

Rules are rules I know, but the deflection was the contributing factor that made it go in, not the fact that shot just happened to be in target. The original shot was never going to result in a goal.

What happens if it there is a shot on target and it deflects of a player’s own team mate and goes in ? Does the shot taker or his team mate that it comes off get the goal ?

"The original shot was never going to result in a goal." That's speculation on your part. The key question, and it has always been so since I can remember, is whether or not the shot is on target, which it was.

Sané. Far more explosive and consistent. Firmino is very streaky; unfortunately his cold streaks last about 3 times longer than his hot ones.

    Foster (Lossl)
    Robertson, Doherty, WBA (Luiz, Zabaleta)
    Haz, Pogba, Salah, Richarlison (Hojbjerg)
    Rashford, Firmino, Wilson

    0.4m ITB, 2 FT's

I'm thinking it's time to get rid of injured Wilson and Hazard (mci/BLANK/TOT) despite his haul yesterday and Auba (hud, SOU, BOU) looks like an obvious choice which leaves me with 6.1m ITB for a Mid. Is Frasar the best option despite his upcoming fixtures (liv, ars, WOL, MCI) ?

It's a classic form against fixtures situation, if you are using FH in GW31 it would be a no brainer. It still could work however as your incoming players could easily outscore your outgoing players by more than the potential number of hits required before GW31.

Yes so good so far with my no City DGW'ers plan, but i'm going to be hiding behind the sofa for both of City's games this GW. If my Pool and United players preform today however I could easily come out of it with a green arrow and a team which is well set for blank GW's 31 and 33

True, I guess we only know the confirmed fixtures at this stage, of which there are 4 or so from memory. I currently have 3 Pool assets, so that's OK, but I am planning on flogging Firms to Auba in BGW27. Alas, we will have a much clearer picture from BGW27 onwards, so can build from 27-31 I guess!

You will know some of the blanks but you will not know the doubles, and as you are planning for the doubles I don’t know how you can do that ?

I did this very thing last season, and all the teams I thought would have a double gameweek ended up being put in the latter double game week and my ‘planned’ team was full of single gameweek players ... won’t be making that mistake again 🙂

Hehe I see, yes fair points there. Last season, that BGW28 or whenever it was, turned out to be quite tasty to use the FH chip. Are you leaning towards deploying your FH chip in a BGW or DGW?

That 31 blank last season worked out ok for my FH, keeping good players in the buildup (rather than bringing in blank game week dross) that would have a double in 34 worked out great .., except they didn’t actually end up with a double lol

I am tentatively planning for BGW31, Liverpool players etc and my bench will have Leicester, Burnley, Bournemouth, Hudds etc in the run up with the intention of riding out the blanks and using the FH in the DGW32 & WC in 34.

But I will wait until the 5th round FA Cup results until deciding

C: Considering Fraser as a long term option myself, so love that move.

      What are your thoughts on:
      OUT: Alonso, Haz, Sané, Kamara.
      IN: Pereira, Son, Fraser, Auba.

Would be -8 but saves a -4 I'd be doing next week anyway. I can bench Pereira & Fraser through bad fixtures, and both have games in 31 & 33.

I like all 4 of those players coming in. Most likely will get Perreira myself too GW27. Only issue is it being 8pt hit but if you are going to need a 4pt hit in 27 anyway then I see more value in taking an 8 in gw26 and zero in gw27 as more chance of those players repaying that deficit if they're also in for gw26
