Manchester City options are likely to form the bedrock of Fantasy Premier League teams again this season.

However, selecting the right ones might prove challenging in the early part of the season.

In this latest article, we take a look at how they performed last season and what trends were set at different stages of the campaign.

As this uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout members area, only those who have signed up for the 2019/20 season can access it in full.

What’s the max amount of +11m players before the team becomes too unbalanced? 2 or 3?

    1. AndyCook

      2

Especially if you want 6.5-7M defenders

You can comfortably get in three if you use Auba + Kane, then one of Salah or Sterling.

2 until the cheap overperformers emerge and budgets increase. Make them midfielders too, I don't see any forwards justifying an 11m price tag this year

Borderline, would need 220 to be worth it, could go close, but if Salah and Sterling kick on then that's still not good enough for me

I've tried everything and I'd say 1 or 2 can make a balanced squad, but 3 doesn't work well enough.

    Bottomed out so reposting

After much tweaking I’ve gone for...

    Pope (Heaton)

    TAA Digne Dunk Luiz (Lundstram)

    Barkley Pérez Salah Sterling (Dendoncker)

    Lacazette Wilson (Nketiah)

Let me know what you think

    Zinchenko, VVD, Digne

The problem is no 4.5 striker or 4.0 defenders nailed. I'd switch a mid to a defender and have Dendoncker as a playing bench player. You're never going to get 100% turn out so you need first playing bench player

Feel I’m going to be ridiculed but I haven’t seen a lot of Luke Shaw in many teams and at the same price as Zinchenko I don’t see why he isn’t rated higher? I can’t see Utd leaking many goals and he’s quite nailed.

    2. Andy_Social

I think most people DO see United leaking goals, and of the wing-back options, many see AWB collecting more baps. Not sure I agree myself but I don't have quite enough faith to have a United defender from the off.

    3. Drip Doctor
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

What people fail to grasp is signing AWB and Slabhead won't instantly stop Utd from conceding. Their midfield is still a mess and gets bypassed far to easily. Also, Luke Shaw would be the last of the back 4 to get.

    4. AndyCook
      6 years, 11 months ago

I think United will get tighter at the back but I wouldn’t pick Shaw out of their back four, I think a United defender is a reasonable shout at 5.5

Just put together this exact team...(different bench), other than Coleman instead of Digne.

Still not sure if i'll go for it come gw1

If going with just the one Liverpool defender I'd select Robertson. Rest looks fairly sweet to be fair. Solid team.

Big if. Anyway it was a tongue in cheek comment. I honestly have no idea who Kean is.

Not sure how much you will save! Output should be similar though if he plays as he can.

Is Walker Pieters Spurs first choice right back now? Or atleast for the first game? 5.0 good price

    Thoughts on Barkley?
Would’ve expected more love for attacking midfielder for Chelsea that takes set pieces and penalties at 6.0mio.

    Is he a rotation risk?

Just want to see some consistency from him before committing. Yes he's a risk at the moment if his form dips.

As you mentioned - good player in open play who is a goal threat and has assist potential. Bonus of pens, corners and FKs (in pre-season at least)

But, a rotation risk - you can't help but feel that a few bad games and he could be benched

If you need the spare .5m I would take the risk and go for him over Perez... could pay off greatly

I've tinkered with a 4-5-1. I think it effectively distributes funds across the team the best, however its biggest flaw is the lone forward without a backup. An injury to Wilson will cause a headache that could have been prevented. That's why I'm going for a 4-4-2.
