Manchester City options are likely to form the bedrock of Fantasy Premier League teams again this season.

However, selecting the right ones might prove challenging in the early part of the season.

In this latest article, we take a look at how they performed last season and what trends were set at different stages of the campaign.

As this uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout members area, only those who have signed up for the 2019/20 season can access it in full.

Has something changed on FPL or am I just being thick? I can't seem to change my bench order....

It's not drag and drop anymore, you have to click on the players and select switch.

Very tempted, guess it just depends on what happens with Zaha

People think Palace will struggle and possibly go down this season.

I don't think that, personally, but uncertainty over Zaha doesn't help matters.

IF you were to drop one, would you drop Salah or Sterling? And if so, what is the upgrade combo that this enables?

I’m considering Sterling + King > BSilva + Kane, as an example, keeping Salah (and possibly Kane) as a captain option.

    1. ebb2sparky
      • 15 Years

I wouldn’t drop either but since you said IF then Sterling. I’d be very worried if B Silva was my only attacking city asset. I think KDB will have a good season but maybe means you can’t afford Kane?

Hmm. Coverage is a funny thing. I feel that Moura covers Kane but BSilva doesn’t cover Sterling.

Will probably play it safe and stick with Salah and Sterling, personally. I need to see more from Kane.

Not sure on Siggy because Everton don’t seem to be firing at the minute.

Digne to Coleman and Zaha to Barkley allows Siggy to become KDB. Think this gives more flexibility as allows KDB to become Son or Pepe if they are really firing.

Ok I have my structure ready to go and my last decision to make... then I won't annoy anyone again:
    A) McGinn & Abraham
    B) Barkley & 6.5 Forward

    If B, which forward:
    - Jota (good preseason but tough fixtures)
    - Wood (amazing fixtures but indifferent fixtures)
    - Deulo (indifferent preseason but good fixtures)

    I have King

      Really hard to know,

I’ve had them in this order

      King (fixtures & nailed)
Deulofeu (fixtures but will he play)
      Jota (poor fixtures)
      Adams (seems settled)
      Wesley (no idea)
      Murray (meh)
      Ings (injury waiting to happen)

That's my order but I reckon I have Wood squashed between Deulo and Jota.

Deulofeu's fixtures are great but I am just worried about fitness. Wood's fixtures aren't reat. Jota rotation risk with EL.

Just wondering if I save the headache and just go A (McGinn & Abraham)

    Some thoughts re: Everton pre-season.

Defensively have looked quite good with 3 clean sheets in 5 friendlies, but only 2 goals in these 5 fixtures is a real concern. Yerry Mina has slotted in really well with a lot of crucial interceptions and strong aerial presence. Keane has continued to be a leader and mature head from the back. Their defence remains solid despite losing Gueye to PSG. Gbamin will slot in nicely next to Andre Gomes.

Digne has been a standout with some marauding raids down the left flank and plenty of quality balls into the box. Would have had a couple of assists if the attackers had more polish. Went very close to scoring himself last night with a good link up with Bernard. Coleman has also looked ok but not in the same class as Digne. Having Richarlison back in the team bodes well for Coleman down the right side with the Brazilian creating problems for the Werder Bremen defence yesterday.

The problem lies in the final third. DCL is not up to scratch and has failed to capitalise on some good opportunities. Likewise Tosun has left a lot to be desired despite good energy and a high press. Kean is set to be handed the number 9 jersey for the Toffees usurping DCL and hopefully he shows he is a class above. Siggy has carried threat from set pieces but hasn’t looked fantastic in general play.

TL;DR: Digne a much better option that Coleman. Would avoid all attack until Kean settles into his number 9 role. If going for a member of the attack from GW1, it would have to be Richarlison over Siggy

Cheers. The offensive issues do dampen Digne's edge over Coleman, however. If Kean settles in, Digne will probably prove to be a better pick, but for now they're probably on par value wise

I think he'll play in the front 3 more often than not with KDB back. Peps favourite so will play most games with increased importance in the team.

Off the back of a breakthrough season (city wise) and success with Portugal. High confidence.

If you have two forwards, one of which is around 6.5-7m, isn't it almost always preferable to switch to a defender instead as their points ceiling is higher, e.g. a Van Dijk vs King?

I like rotation idea to get more chance for CS BUT I can’t stand it when 10 points are left in the bench!

Martial nailed from the start playing the two tricky teams in good circumstances (Chelsea not yet settled under lamps and wolves have a Europa qualifier just before playing united) and then have an unreal streak of games after that. No one is a threat to martial’s plave this year. He really will make a mockery of that 7.5m price tag

I've got him because he's been playing up front OOP and has been a regular starter in preseason. Not keen on a Bournemouth double up so that eliminates Fraser. He's no more of a gamble than Moura, so that's that from me.

Does a disaster = 2-4 blanks, then transferring them out? If so, you're in for a lot of disasters this season 🙂

They've done fine in preseason, have great fixtures and Wilson and Fraser are in good form. Sounds like you might be trying to convince yourself!

I’ve convinced my self because they are no where near a top 10 team, form last season was shocking, people overlooking sheff Utd game, doubling up you’re just asking for it

Paying 15.5 (Fraser and Wilson) for 2 Bournemouth attackers is beyond me. They won’t be anywhere near the top 10 this season and don’t think it’s an attack you can trust

Is there a combination from last year that outscored them? (For 15.5) Can they be afforded this year?

The only sides that warrant doubling or tripling up on at the beginning of the season where we know nothing are City and Liverpool.

Anyone on here happy with their bench?

That article really put the fear in me about having to have 1st as a nailed player but it really hurts first 11?!

My team below but so much money tied up in the bench.

    Ederson
    VVD TAA Digne Zinchenko
    Salah Sterling Perez Barkley
    Jota King

    Button Adams (6.0) Diop (4.5) Dendoncker (4.5)

Digne Zinchenko to Coleman Laporte would be better??

Looks good. You won't be able to get anything more balanced than that from an SSK team. I'd maybe downgrade Digne to Coleman and use the 0.5 elsewhere – either on McGinn or Cathcart.
