Fantasy Premier League managers might want to exercise caution over West Ham assets at the start of 2019/20.

The Hammer start with a tough opening weekend fixture against Manchester City, but it is hard to guarantee Fantasy potential even in the more appealing matches that follow.

Looking at last season’s data, there is a possibility that their new-look attack could take some time to gel.

Meanwhile, the Hammers defence was questionable in 2018/19.

We’ve taken a look at all areas of Manuel Pellegrini’s team last season to see where Fantasy manager can find value in 2019/20.

As this article uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only those signed up for the new season can access it in full.

    Pope (Henderson)
Robbo - VVD - Digne (Zouma - Gibson)
    Salah - KDB - Fraser - Perez - Trossard
    Wilson - Wood (Ings)

Fairly happy witht the balance in this team

You've spent too much on the bench.

We have almost exactly the same starting 11 but I have Sterling over KDB.

Wouldn't touch Chelsea defence. I think they're going to have a terrible season. Hazard saved them year after year. Seems like Lamps has alrady lost the dressng room with Luiz leaving.

With regards to Hazard, you may have had a case last season but year after year? Please, Hazard is superb but he would be far closer to Messi & Cristiano's level if it wasn't for his inconsistency.

As for losing the dressing room, complete tosh. Luiz has been told he's 4th choice once Rudiger's fit. He now wishes to move to get that game time elsewhere - completely amicable for all parties.

Have your own opinions for not touching Chelsea's defence but please educate yourself.

Im considering him over Fraser but not convinced just yet.

I don't see the point in waiting, could play it safe with Moura/Fraser for two weeks I guess but costs a transfer

If he's good vs Chelsea you might not be able to afford that though, without cash in the bank

            • 10 Years
            7 years, 15 days ago

Yeah I agree about that but its more likely that I will make a move in GW3 when I have 2 transfers so cash shouldn't be a problem.

He's probably a better bet and more nailed than Moura but Fraser seems like a safe pick for the first 2 and then jumping on these emerging mids.

Very good logic to that, Fraser seems like a long-term pick though. I've gone both cherries up top instead. Eyeing up Haller/Jota or both in the near future. It's hard with Bou players if they smash it gw 1-2 you might end up keeping them too long

                7 years, 15 days ago

Yes it obviously depends on Fraser. But hey if he smashes it then its probably a good thing.

Currently siding with Deeney over King because ive got Fraser.

Im also interested in Jota if hes benched tonight by any chance more than likely I will start with him only.

Fair enough, Fraser could be a season-keeper (again). So we have very similar thoughts, starting with Fraser+Deeney does sound a bit safer than Martial+King.

And I have Barkley over Trossard, I might be lured in to having a Utd and Che attacker instead of Bha and Wat though just because it looks nicer on paper

This merely proves my point. Which is, that Pellegrini would be mad to leave Snodgrass out, if he wants Haller to fire. Which, presumably, he does. So both Yarmolenko and Lanzini will have to watch out. And Fornals. From the bench, probably.

Well, his "quality" is way in excess of the others. Especially on a dead ball.

So Snodgrass has more quality than Lanzini?

Dead ball don't get me wrong he's good, but in open play I don't rate his end product.

I just don't get the hype for fitting in three big hitters. Both Robertson and VVD crossed 200 points last season and will probably do so again or get very close. Kane typical case scenario is also a little over 200. How can you leave players out at 6.5, 7 but get players at 11 who will probably get similar number of points. Boggles me. Plus Liverpool have easy early fixtures, so Kane doesn't even have a fixture advantage. Plus with Salah and Sterling there is no captaincy benefit to Kane.

What a load of rubbish in the above article...

Firstly, the second comparison table has conveniently left Snodgrass out, would love to see what his minutes per key pass is after making the point below that Snodgrass is the more creative player. As you've said, a lot of Snodgrass chance creation would've been from set pieces, Fornals clearly the better player from open play.

West Ham attack will be different this year being a lot more fluid with Anderson, Lanzini, Fornals AND Haller all interchanging and being an attacking quartet mixing around. There will be more goals, pre-season has shown this.

Also failed to mention the fact that Haller will likely be on pens.

    Tough decisions...thoughts between this

    A: Digne + TAA + Wilson
    B: Coleman + Guilbert/Rico rotation + Auba

Other defenders are VVD // Zincheko // Rico

I know nothing about Yapi, the right back Brighton have signed. Is he a threat to Montoya, or just back up?

I believe he's gone into the U23 squad, so no immediate concern for Montoya owners.
