Pro Pundits - Darren

Why I’m lining up for FPL Gameweek 3 without any Chelsea players

A Fantasy Premier League veteran of 11 years, Darren Wiles has an incredible track record with three top 1k finishes in the last four seasons.

With so many favourable match-ups in Gameweek 3, I am feeling confident about the next round of Fantasy Premier League.

It has been a positive start thus far, anyway, with 80 and 90-point hauls in the first two Gameweeks taking me to a total of 170 and an overall rank of 29k.

The goals have been flying in so far and I have been lucky enough to capitalise on the early glut of double-digit returns. But all of that is in the past, and it’s what happens this weekend that matters now.

Here is what my team looks like for Gameweek 3 and the reasons behind some key decisions.

Let us first see that. Don't go on those 20 minutes against Palace.

Brave after last game, plus DVB now threatening his position (but not his place in starting XI though)

    (K)DB - Mo - Son - Podence - Foden
Werner - Jimi - Brewster (and hope)

Striker option at 6.5 is very less. And wood is boring to own and watch them play. Hence option B

I'm going with James, but will switch him for Lamptey in a week or two. Lamptey is flagged so his price isn't rising right now and he's got a very hard fixture this week.

With Jesus ruled out (and so is Aguero), do you think Sterling could be a good captaincy option given that he played more like an advanced mid in that 4-2-2-2 formation vs wolves (especially in the first half)?

No imo. You have to question their ability to score now. They've lost their best 2 strikers no?

    Ryan
    TAA/Davies/KWP
    Salah(c)/Auba/Pereira/Podence
    Kane/Werner/Adams

    Button/Burke/Taylor/Mitchell

1ft, Auba -> KDB then gtg?

Thoughts on no pool defence wildcard:

    Martinez
    Saïss James Justin
    KDB Salah Son Foden
    Werner Jiménez DCL

    Steer Burke Mitchell Dunne

Oh, there are only 3, none are likely to play. The problem with Brewster is he take s Liverpool spot. If you're never going to play him anyway, I'd pick Davis as he seems the most likely to get a few minutes every other match.

The thing is, if Brewster moves than it is great option to rotate with 5.5 mid options, hence asking. Although Davis chances have went up with Samantta going out on loan.

    A Salah
    B KDB
    C Werner

Starting from this moment, keep rotating captaincy on each one every 2 hours and keep on it whoever comes closer to deadline

I was on Salah at the start of the week. Currently on KDB now.

I can't decide whether it's better to rotate captains every week or just leave it on Salah, for example for five weeks so you don't miss out on one of his hauls.

Yeah man city score the most goals. Plus if he continues in the no. 10 role he should have more goal involvements.

      A big conundrum.

Arsenal concede a lot of shots these days. Salah has the highest number of penalty box touches.

City's attack and creativity mostly comes through kdb.

West brom having conceded more goals in opening weeks plus the suspension of gibbs would also mean Timo could be a good choice as well.

It all depends on your style of playing fpl. If you want to be safe, go with kdb or Salah. If you are looking for a punt, go with werner.

I agree with pretty much everything you said.

Because KDB is so highly owned his effective ownership is going to be very high so risky not to pick him as Captain. I will probably play safe and Captain him based on the way he played against wolves. Wolves by reputation have a good defence and city scored three. Leicester looked open v Burnley.

Werner is definitely the punt this week and probably the more stats based decision based on west broms defence. Plus Werner is due a haul surely.

I do feel arsenal will sit deep. They have improved defensively under arteta. I can see Liverpool winning 2-0.

Just to update you with a bit more info

If arsenal are going with kolasinac at the back, then I guess it's a no brainer to captain salah.

If it's Tierney at the back (believe he has a late fitness test), then I feel kdb is the best among the lot.

Do what your gut instincts tell you to do after gathering all the information out there.

Yeah I have been monitoring Tierney. I'm not sure if he would make much difference. Although you would know better than I which has the better impact in your defence.

Arsenal likely to play three center halfs with wing backs?

Injuries force him to play that formation if not the personnel.

Believe they would go 3 amongst holding, gabriel, Luiz and Tierney (if he is fit).

Kola and saliba will also be in the mix but I believe they will be down the pecking order

Good to know. From what I'm reading Tierney will be fit.

I think I'm still sticking with KDB.
