Kane missing for Spurs as Guardiola starts Grealish and Mahrez

The most-anticipated Premier League fixture of the weekend sees reigning champions Manchester City take on Tottenham Hotspur, as Nuno Espirito Santo begins his reign as manager. (We’ll be following the match live and discussing key points in a live YouTube watchalong).

For the home team, Harry Kane (£12.5m) misses out completely with Son Heung-min (£10.0m) set to lead the line in his absence.

The South Korean international has impressed during pre-season and has an excellent record against Man City. In fact, he has only scored more goals in all competitions against Southampton.

Japhet Tanganga (£4.5m) starts at right-back, a role he was trialled in during last weekends friendly win against Arsenal, alongside Davinson Sanchez (£4.5m), Eric Dier (£4.5m) and Sergio Reguilón (£5.0m).

Dele Alli (£6.5m) features from the off, too, with new arrivals Bryan Gil (£6.0m) and Cristian Romero (£5.0m) both having to settle for a place on the bench.

As for Manchester City, new signing Jack Grealish (£8.0m), owned by 24.4% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, starts for the visitors in north London, with Riyad Mahrez (£9.0m), Ferran Torres (£8.0m) and Raheem Sterling (£11.0m) completing the forward line.

Kevin De Bruyne (£12.0m), meanwhile, is on the bench with John Stones (£5.5m) and Kyle Walker (£5.5m), while Phil Foden (£8.0m) misses out with a foot injury as expected.

Kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is at 16.30 BST.

Didn't have one week inside the top 300k last season. GW1 rank of ~120k is much welcomed. Now, to now bugger it up 😆

      Both are risk.
Once Cavani and Sancho are included God knows how United will line up.

Pogba should be nailed in midfield when all players are back, no?

Depends on the Fred/McTomminey situation really. Can they afford to play only one? Maybe Varane will help that, but hard to say. Not sure Pogba will get dropped so soon after yesterday's performance.

It's a good history lesson. He's been out of favour a few times, but seems to play under Ole when fit.

          From another poster.

United still have a conundrum over Pogba’s best position, Pogba’s best work in this match was from the middle of the park. He is not going to be making overlapping runs down the left or pinging crosses in from the byline but by moving in he leaves Shaw too much to do on the left. Leeds United punished them once on that flank but against better opposition this will be a problem"

Broadly speaking I think Pogba has made the LWF slot his own until Rashford’s return, or at least until the IB after yesterday’s performance

Ole can be a bit of a tinkerer but I don’t think he’ll try to fix something that obviously isn’t broken in that position

On the right - Sancho comes in for James easy

Then that leaves Cavani & Greenwood share duties up top - Cavani for low blocks, Greenwood for higher lines

And Greenwood also potentially subbing on for Sancho on the right

It’s going to be tough for Martial & Lingard to break into the team for a few games at least without injuries or loss of form

In answer to your question - Pogba for now, just remembering his 15 returns in 11 games when Ole first started

He has these types of runs in him when he tries the lazy big bollocks

Good insight, I have Greenwood was all set to ship him out gw 3 for Raphinha. But the fixtures look very tempting and he looks on form. I will need to keep a close eye on the Cavani situation as I feel OGS loves the guy. I think Martial is third choice striker now behind Cavani/Greenwood?

If Gundogan’s out what to do with this squad? Want to roll a transfer and find a way to get Son in next week.

    Sanchez
    Shaw - TAA -Tsim
    Salah - Bruno - Barnes - Gundogan
    Ings - Antonio - Toney

    Foster - White - Veltman - Brownhill

Not really Man United are playing Southampton and Greenwood is likely playing as striker again. Greenwood finished his chance like a veteran the last day
What is less likely is the Pogba gets 4 assists again in one game this season.

Raphinha owner, holding for at least this week if not the next too, just depends what I fancy doing with my two FTs post GW2. I usually hop on bandwagons in GW1 but pretty resolved to just hold on everything rn and assess next week. Also if Raphinha doesn't miss that sitter this isn't even a question, just wasn't his day at all very poor performance

I am keeping Barnes until after gw3 at least, plus I have hatched a plan of rotating mid price midfielders fixtures permitting.
Raphinha - I do not own him
I have my eye on getting Raphinha for Greenwood gw3.
He has Burnley gw3 and has a lovely run of fixtures from gw5 on.

I think you can make a good team without them to be honest.
Fpl is not about picking a team that will win the league just picking players that will get points.
West Ham, Leicester, Spurs are all kindly priced. Also Watford and Brentford have loads of bargains.

I remember last season I had Sterling for ages was very frustrating to own. How do you know who will start?

ignore the impulse to grab at a watford striker because you can. In another week you will have two transfers

My team structure is screaming for a 2nd striker as I'm Toney, Obafemi, Scarlet and 0.5m itb.

Currently not planning any other moves.

Long term I'm planning to hold when ever I can.

wait another week and you'll have more information and you'll be able to pick any striker you want. You may also get an injury in the week or GW2 that allocates what player to use to free up money to buy a decent striker. Clutching at a Watford striker now could just make a meh situation worse

I really have a good situation with 98 points, I would just love another sub if 5.0 forward really is available.

If Dennis keeps at this he'll be 5.5 before gw4.

that fact that your choices now are so limited should tell you that it's not a great structure to be investing in. Better off taking a hit and buying a sensible player with good replacements at that price point, e.g a 7.5m or above striker

            • 4 Years

I'm really happy with the structure... but if i can get another sub in a 5.0 forward - then its just making my team even better.

And mostly my options are limited because there is nothing else to be fixed (yet)

Sanchez - why waiste a transfer on 4.5 keeper... Only Raya and Woodman outscored in that bracket, and both are neither is popular.

Shaw - deffo passed eye test and easy fixtures.

Toney - same as Shaw... plus who would you go under 6.5 forward?

Mahrez - only concern for me but has NOR. And i am biassed as i didnt want him anyways.

      Hold your horses!

Sanchez plays Watford - could get a clean sheet in front of home crowd.
      Mahrez plays Norwich
Shaw plays a Southampton team who struggle for goals and he is liable to be in the mix for assists.
Toney is playing Palace who will likely give up chances

If those four players are your problem players you must have a very good side!
