Leicester v Chelsea team news: James and Chilwell start, Azpilicueta benched

There’s a busy Saturday of Premier League football ahead of us, with Leicester City v Chelsea the first of eight matches.

Kick-off at the King Power Stadium is at 12:30 GMT.

Thomas Tuchel and Brendan Rodgers have both made two changes for the lunchtime game.

Daniel Amartey and Marc Albrighton are brought in to replace injured pair Youri Tielemans and Ricardo Pereira, which could mean that the Foxes are turning to a wing-back system – as Rodgers has done in the past when facing the Blues.

Jamie Vardy, the most-owned Fantasy Premier League (FPL) player in this fixture, starts.

Mason Mount is back in the Chelsea starting XI after his recent teething problems, while Trevoh Chalobah starts as the right-sided centre-half.

Ross Barkley and Andreas Christensen are the men to make way from the 1-1 draw with Burnley, while there is a fourth successive league benching for Cesar Azpilicueta.

The fit-again Timo Werner is also among the substitutes.

All of that means that there are further starts for Reece James and Ben Chilwell, with the former now the most-owned Chelsea asset in FPL overall (24.2%) and within the top 10,000 (60.1%).

The ownership figures of Vardy and Antonio Rudiger have taken a bit of a tumble in the top 10k (see below), which is often a better gauge of active Fantasy managers than the ‘selected by’ numbers we see on the FPL site.

Vardy and Rudiger had top 10k ownership figures of 52.7% and 35.0% in Gameweek 11.

Some people are afraid of using that word, but in my eyes James are Chilwell are essential.

No one can get near the value they represent. If they were 6.0m mids I'd still be considering them.

For those who doesnt have James/Chilwell.
Should we just bring him in this GW vs MUN or wait 1 GW vs WAT

I would bring him in against United defence. Ownership is too high not to have them now.

I have Chilly and not James. Was really against 4 strong at the back but we keep getting evidence it’s the best thing to do.

West Ham next for Dias, who are no pushovers and can actually press, while Dias has little attacking threat

Man U next for Chilwell, who are horrible at defending as a team and Chilwell is, well, the league's leading team's leading goal threat

In the last 4 MUN conceded 21 chances down their left zone in (worst in the league) but only 9 on the right zone (joint 3rd best in the league). So James looks more interesting IMO, though wait for the CL game of course.

    Bottomed

    Foster | Sanchez
    TAA | Cancelo | Livra | Coady | White
    Saka | Gallagher | Foden | Salah | Benrhama
    Kane | Antonio | Scarlett

White > 3.9 (Amartey?) will allow me to do Coady > James/Chilwell. Do it?

He hit the bar. He had a good shot saved by Schmeichel. He was marginally offside on a couple of occasions.

Reece is talented but stop bashing Chilwell. He had more goal involvement than Messi does this year FFS.

Just my opinion. I am not saying Chilwell is a bad player. I am just saying James is a BETTER one. And they just happen to play in the same team. To me Chilwell seems a bit more one dimensional than James. More nous about James IMO.

just Rudiger --> Chilwell makes most sense to me.

Have to disagree here. Have been to the last few Chelsea games and Rudiger gets into some extremely dangerous positions and gets his head on most corners, thats why I ended up playing him over Livramento today

          • 14 Years
          2 years, 5 months ago

Nice to hear that from a Chelsea fan in the know. Rudiger seems like the discarded one for many who go Chilwell/James or Chilwell and James.
So to me that immediately says Rudgier is an fpl 'blind spot' for many people playing fpl. I am trying to keep an eye out for 'fpl blind spots' by watching the price changes this season.

Either a good option (despite Chelsea's fixtures on paper). But you will have to keep an eye on your bench. Both are likely lads for rotation during the Christmas period.

For the Christmas fixtures gotta imagine that’s a rotation spot with Coufal - Europe, league cup, league.

        • 5 Years

Thing is, Coufal started the last Europa game, and will probably start this midweek's Europa game as well

Johnson is a young lad from the academy, probably in his breakout season

I think there'll be some rotation over the fixture congestion, but with Johnson now first choice. Happy to own him at that price with his GW16+ fixtures, in that case

    A)Jimenez (for antonio)
