What the FA Cup results and draw mean for FPL Gameweeks 27 and 30

We’re starting to get a better picture of the situation in Gameweeks 27 and 30 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) after the latest FA Cup results and draw.

GAMEWEEK 30

Three scheduled Premier League fixtures will definitely go ahead in Blank Gameweek 30: Arsenal v Aston Villa, Leicester City v Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers v Leeds United.

As many as seven league matches could be postponed because of the clash with the FA Cup quarter-finals, however, after the fifth-round draw kept apart many of the top-flight teams.

GAMEWEEK 27

After the weekend’s cup results, a maximum of three matches could potentially be added to Gameweek 27 to make it a ‘double’ (or a ‘single’ for Leicester).

Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool will now definitely blank in Gameweek 27.

The list of outstanding fixtures that could fall here are:

  • Burnley v Leicester City
  • Leeds United v Aston Villa
  • Aston Villa v Burnley
  • Wolves v Watford

Only Leeds v Aston Villa of that foursome was scheduled to be televised (on Amazon), so it could be that this fixture is saved for a later date to avoid a clash with the FA Cup matches on TV.

The most urgent game that needs rescheduling is Burnley v Leicester, with the Foxes having four outstanding fixtures but otherwise having no free midweeks until Gameweek 33 *if* they continue to progress in Europe.

Leicester’s elimination does, at least, majorly lower the possibility of a Triple Gameweek for Brendan Rodgers’ side, as they should have enough free windows to fulfill their fixtures.

      I like Semedo as he's guaranteed a start. RAN would be a good option but Jonny is almost match fit which will definitely affect his minutes. I've personally gone for Kilman as he's the cheapest option (and is guaranteed minutes).

        He will still be everyones captain, just not for the extra 1/3 triple captains get. this will likely be between 10-15 points which can easily be matched by a good bench boost

          You can get *too* bogged down in what everyone else is doing. You want TC to score most points possible. Salah is the highest scoring player in FPL this season by a mile and plays two of the worse defences in the league.

        You're bench is probably going to be DdG, City Def, Watford/ Villa assets. Could easily be 6-15 points, Salah would need 1 return in each game to outscore it.

      Very tempted to TC TAA or Robbo. TAA outscored Salah quite a lot of weeks prior to Africa. If it comes there is a massive rank jump to be had.

          Oh I just realised why it might be a bit more complicated.... Now that Leicester are out of FA Cup, Burnley v Leicester is the more pressing rearrangement (giving Burnley 2 games for 27 already) than Villa v Burnley. But Villa could still have the Leeds game rescheduled for 27

          It's the level of spoon feeding for players who aren't particularly engaged that annoys me, but honestly I think it's forced me to go back to basics like Rocky in Russia and become a better manager. The omicron chaos ladder really worked out for me in the end, despite my misgivings.

    Thinking about Bruno in as a Salah stopgap, which probably means downgrading Dias, maybe to Dalot. I am 0.1m shy of Dias + Maddison -> Bruno & Dalot, which is annoying. Same true of Bernardo -> KdB.

    I should be shifting out ESR ahead of the blank but that's not really contributing to bringing Salah back. Unless I commit to a WC next week in which case who knows.

    I'd be wildcarding now if there wasn't still DGW uncertainty.

        In the red sadly. I can bring him in using both FTs but in the case I might as well go all in and do Bernardo & Maddison -> KdB & Bench fodder for this week.

        That's basically a commitment to wildcard next week or the week after but I'm OK with that....

          To be fair you have Kane so wouldn't double up. I don't think its necessarily needing a WC. Why not Ait Nouri instead of Dalot with your suggested move? I am not convinced Dalot is 100% nailed and you're already invested in the shaky United defence with DDG.

    Probably settling on 2FT to bring in one of Son (or KDB) and possibly Digne. Will be keeping beyond 26 when I bring Salah in. Thoughts on which of these looks better please:

    a. Gray -> Son
    b. Trossard & Keane -> Son & Digne
    c. Silva & Keane -> Son (or KDB) & Digne

    C could also include Bruno, but have CR7 so don't fancy the double up

      Keep an eye on Broja injury news. Don't fancy Salah just yet myself (would have KDB or Son for 24 and 25 and then can get rid of one of them or Bruno for Salah) but otherwise looks pretty nice

      A - GW 27 makes it pretty compelling.

      All things being equal though Digne at the price is hard to resist.
