Scouting The Doubles

The best Spurs players for FPL Double Gameweek 29 and beyond

As if you hadn’t heard already, six top-flight teams will play twice in Double Gameweek 29, after three postponed Premier League fixtures were rescheduled for mid-March.

Following our look at Arsenal, attention now turns to North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, in this, the second instalment of a four-part Scouting the Doubles.

Notably, in addition to their ‘double’, the Lilywhites also have a guaranteed fixture in Gameweek 30, making their assets more appealing for those attempting to negotiate the blank without a Free Hit.

All stats taken from this article are from our Premium Members Area.

THE OUTLOOK

Sizeable Double Gameweek 22 a possibility after FA Cup replays scrapped

Tottenham Hotspur’s unexpected elimination from the FA Cup means that Antonio Conte’s side can not only offer us players who ‘double’ in Gameweek 29, but also assets who are unaffected by the blanks in Gameweek 30.

For those looking further ahead, Spurs will also have another Double Gameweek to come between now and the end of the season.

And the remaining fixtures themselves are very decent, with eight of their last 12 games of 2021/22 against teams currently ranked 11th or below in the Premier League table.

Spurs’ performances have been a bit Jekyll-and-Hyde in 2022, with five wins and four defeats in the Premier League since the turn of the year (see below). However, they have improved of late, with back-to-back 5-0 and 4-0 wins against Everton and Leeds United respectively.

  • Tottenham Hotspur 5-0 Everton
  • Leeds United 0-4 Tottenham Hotspur
  • Burnley 1-0 Tottenham Hotspur
  • Manchester City 2-3 Tottenham Hotspur
  • Tottenham Hotspur 0-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers
  • Tottenham Hotspur 2-3 Southampton
  • Chelsea 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur
  • Leicester City 2-3 Tottenham Hotspur
  • Watford 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Now, they face a Manchester United outfit whose defensive deficiencies were badly exposed in Sunday’s derby, plus a Brighton and Hove Albion side who have conceded nine goals in their last four league matches.

    How does the following look:

    Dennis + Bowen + De Gea ---> Richarlison + Kulu + Dubravka (-8)

Richarlison - DGW, soft opposition, punt-worthy / differential
Kulu - DGW and fodder for GW30
Dubravka - only realistic choice with 4.5 ITB

I may be able to free up funds by selling Cancelo / Jimenez, but each has it's deficiencies.

Swift feedback appreciated with Dennis about to fall before price changes.

Not crazy about the Richarlison punt but if you like it then I have no particular issue with those moves.

        For the coming GW yeah.
Gonna use reserve keeper (Sa) for GW30, and then WC anything out onwards depending on how the team looks.

Hi all. Any obvious improvements to make on this wildcard?

    Ramsdale
    TAA, Robertson, James, Reguilon
    Salah, Saka, Kulu, Raph, Odegaard
    Kane

    Foster, Toney, Rodrigo, Amartey

That would be 9 doublers in GW29 and 10 playing in GW30. I'd hopefully then have two fts in GW31 to re-adjust at that point.

Exactly the kind of tweaks I was looking for, thanks. Was weighing up Martinelli v Odegaard.

I had Reguilon in on the assumption that Sessegnon would be out for a while and he would be secure for starts at that point.

it just seems like Conte has got to the point with Reguilon where he just doesn't fancy him, throws him some minutes here and there, i'd go with Davies or Doherty even

Exactly, agreed as a former Reguilon owner frustrated by his lack of minutes. And of course he gets thrown in and scores after getting left out for weeks and I finally transferred him out.

the fact that Conte is now playing the likes of Doherty and Sessegnon makes me think he lost his patience after some bad results, and if the likes of Doherty and the team keep doing well then it will be hard for Emerson/Reguilon to get their regular starts back, but of course they could all share some minutes

Martinelli just has a bit more chance of getting a haul, Odegaard i see as someone who ticks along with small returns, but Martinelli could have a big score in him, slightly riskier pick in terms of expected minutes (although i expect to play most minutes of most games, maybe with an early sub for Pepe now and then) but more upside

I would play Cancelo over Holgate. I would expect about 10-18 points from a bench of Dubravka*, Holgate*, Raphinha and Hwang. I think that is decent floor for benchboost, but if you are looking for higher ceiling, then I would wait for the bench boost.

Ahhhh can't decide between kulu & saka

Was all set for saka but feel like he will be rotated for atleast 1 of the 3 games given arsenal have 2 rest days between games. Plus don't see scoring in pool game.

Kulu has better fixtures (away games tho) and 3 days rest between games.

I am convincing myself for kulu but just not sure

I’m gd with some rest as long as he starts. N if he rest, the game is mostly done by then.

Not to mention Kulu is a rotational risk himself.

Not saying you can’t go for both but For me, saka is the first 3-4 names I want in my team this coming GW. But if your gut say Kulu, go for it.

Pretty set on this hit because I don't think Havertz plays with UCL so close and getting Vardy over Kane was a bit of a mistake:

    Vardy to Kane
    Havertz to Saka -4

Given his attacking threat from WB would you also recommend a hit of Kilman to Doherty?

Would give me this BB squad:

    Ram* / Dubravka*
    TAA* Holgate* Doherty* Reece Rudiger
    Salah* Son* Saka* Martinelli* Ramsey
    Kane* Rodrigo Broja

    TAA Saiss Rudiger James
    Salah Son Coutinho Raphinha
    Lacazette Broja

    Dubravka Ramsey Jimenez Kilman

    1FT, 0.2itb

To prep for DGW29 and BGW30:

Rudiger Son Jimenez >> Doherty Saka Kane (-8)

Best move here chaps? Losing Mount this week feels risky but Kulu has 3 games (bha, mun, WHU) to Mount’s 1 (NEW) over 29/30.

    A) Save FT
    B) Mount -> KULU
    C) A-Nouri & Mount -> DOHERTY & KULU (-4) (bench Cout)

    RAMSDALE
    TRENT, TIERNEY, James
    SALAH, MARTINELLI, Mount, Raphina, Coutinho
    KANE, Broja

    Foster, Jimenez, Coady, A-Nouri
Bank 0.0m, 1FT, BB, FH left

      B.

I'm transferring out Havertz because I think he gets rested for Newcastle, same thing could happen to Mount although probably less likely given he's a little more secure for starts vs Kai.

I have the same conundrum re: a wolves defender to Doherty above. Thoughts on that would be appreciated.

My situation would be Kilman to Doherty. Do you think Everton score vs Wolves?

I think it’s 50:50 if they score. Both sides struggling of late. Ditching Kilman is harder than A-N though cause Kilman is nailed. Unless you are FHing in 30 I think I’d hold on to Kilman.

    Bowen / Ramsey / KWP -> Saka / Kulusevski / White for -8?

Don’t really like the hit much, but all the ins play double, plus GW30 (not FHing), so possibly worthwhile?

    A. Cancelo + Jimi to Doherty + Kane -4

    or

    B. Cancelo + Coutinho + Dennis to Cedric + Kulu + Kane -8

B gives me 2 extra fixtures

A couple of questions to prepare me for the coming GW,

    A. Havertz and Bednarek >> Son and White (-4)?
    B. Dubravka, Hwang, Ramsey and Amartey worth BB?

    1. luk46
      • 5 Years

A - would probably go for Kulusevski + Tierney and upgrade elsewhere later
B - nah, that screams for 10 points

Spurs have 3 league games in a week, so who is actually nailed and if you had to bet your house on is most likely to start all 3? Some players may be rotated around but is this about it ?

    Son
    Kane
    Lloris
    Højbjerg

I'd say Kulusevski is likely to start all 3 as well and maybe Dier, but hes not interesting from an fpl perspective

Agree with you. If I have to bet my house, only Lloris. Otherwise, I think Son, Kane and Højbjerg should also start all 3. I wouldn't count on anyone else.

Spurs are not in any other competitions so less likelihood of long term burn out. Wide defenders will always be a risk though

i think quite a few more will play all 3 games but which ones is the tricky part because none ‘need’ to be rotated but when there is little between the players it becomes a case of freshening the team up.

I am on Kane & Son and then risking Davies mainly because of the balance of my team and he is useful bench player.

    Ramsdale
    Trent Robbo James Cancelo
    Salah Saka Raphinha Fraser
    Kane Adams
    Dubravka Broja Ramsey Saiss

would you do Ramsey + Adams > Kulusevski + Hwang for a hit? bb would be Dubravka Broja Hwang Saiss... (2x fh left)

Could be..as long as you don't compromise the likes of Salah TAA Saka and/or Robbo just to get all those 3

If you can fit all 3 in then that’s gold however I’ve tried having all 3 and it disrupts the rest of my squad

Spurs players are very unpredictable / inconsistent, except may be Son. As of now, I want Salah, TAA, Robertson, Cancelo and Saka in my team before I touch any of the Spurs assets. Going with only Son and Kulu.

I haven’t seen any teams with Pickford but they have a decent double this week and still have 4 games to rearrange so bringing him on WC

Everton are Crxp but home form is decent. You will have to evaluate away games they play because there will be little change out of them.

Plan to WC in GW31. Currently only have 5 players for GW30, but want to save my FH for GW33 or GW36.

Priced out by 0.1 on Jota to Kulu and Dennis to Vardy.

Would you do the following for a -8:

Cancelo to Doherty (bringing Cancelo back on WC and he is ill right now)
Jota to Kulu (covers me through 30)
Dennis to Vardy (covers me through 30)

Just about all players in GW29 have a good fixture GW31. You might find GW34 is the best time to WC, dependent on rearranged fixtures in GW31 and GW32
