FPL transfers: The latest new Premier League signings assessed

Our latest Fantasy Premier League (FPL) transfer round-up looks at some more moves from the last fortnight.

The most significant players will be the subject of their own dedicated Scout Report but all the others will feature in regular round-ups over pre-season, continuing with this one.

You’ll find all the major deals on our dedicated Transfers page, while you can get a club-by-club guide to the key moves via our comprehensive Pre-Season tab.

Our sister website, Fantasy Football Community, also has a daily round-up of the latest transfer rumours.

You can find more articles on the likes of Erling Haaland, Gabriel Jesus and Ivan Perisic in our Scout Reports section.

FPL TRANSFER ROUND-UP

Tyrell Malacia (Feyenoord to Manchester United, £13m)

The first signing of Erik ten Hag’s reign at Manchester United, 22-year-old Tyrell Malacia looked set to sign for Lyon until this late hijack. It can be deduced that ten Hag highly rates this athletic left-back after watching him star for Ajax’s rivals Feyenoord in their run to the Europa Conference League final.

Priced at £4.5m in FPL, Malacia has strong potential if he moves ahead of Luke Shaw (£5.0m) in the pecking order. Currently, there is optimism over Man Utd assets, like in midfield where several have received huge price drops.

Under a new head coach, their players could emerge as great options – we just don’t yet know which ones.

Aaron Hickey (Bologna to Brentford, £17m)

After being linked with Arsenal for a while, Aaron Hickey (£5.0m) instead signed for Brentford. He’s yet another talented Scottish left-back, although his versatility often saw him at right-back and left wing-back whilst at Bologna.

Information from WhoScored

Therefore it’s not completely clear whose spot is in danger – Rico Henry (£4.5m) or Sergi Canos (£5.0m). Comfortable with both feet, Hickey managed to score five times last season, becoming the first Scot to do so in Serie A since Graeme Souness in 1984-85.

Brentford begin with a strong run of games, although managers may prefer David Raya (£4.5m) as a cheaper route to defensive coverage.

Clement Lenglet (Barcelona to Tottenham Hotspur, loan)

Spurs’ fifth signing of an exciting summer is the loan of centre-back Clement Lenglet from Barcelona. FPL has already priced the left-footer at £5.0m, with the French international likely to take Ben Davies‘ (£5.0m) spot on the left of Antonio Conte’s back three.

His main strength is ball-playing, which could add another dimension to the attacking potential of Harry Kane (£11.5m) and Son Heung-min (£12.0m). Perhaps Lenglet’s weakness is actual defending, like when he was widely blamed for Switzerland’s opening goal during France’s round of 16 exit at Euro 2020. He was taken off at half-time.

The 27-year-old shined during his 18 months at Sevilla and will hope this new environment brings him back to that level. For FPL managers, Lenglet saves £0.5m on Ivan Perisic and Hugo Lloris but without the attacking potential or security of starts.

Cheick Doucoure (Lens to Crystal Palace, undisclosed)

Although undisclosed, reports say that Crystal Palace paid around £21m to land exciting Mali international Cheick Doucoure.

Handed a £5.0m FPL price, he will take the spot of successful loan signing Conor Gallagher (£6.0m) but don’t expect the eight goals of last season.

That same number arrived over four seasons at Lens, where his central partnership with Seko Fofana played a huge part in the successive seventh-place finishes that followed their return to Ligue 1.

Information from FBRef

More of a box-to-box midfielder, Doucoure is great at breaking up the play with ball interceptions, whilst helping transition with short passes and driving runs upfield.

Joe Aribo (Rangers to Southampton, undisclosed)

Fresh from scoring in last season’s Europa League final, midfielder Joe Aribo has returned to England by signing for Southampton.

The Nigeria international spent three years playing in League One for Charlton before an equivalent length of time at Rangers, delivering 26 goals and 25 assists in all competitions.

“We believe Joe can bring energy and creativity to our side. Feeling comfortable in so many different positions is very helpful for a manager and shows he has a high level of football intelligence, with the ability to take on new information quickly.” – Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl

This eye for goal helped in the latter stages of 2021/22 when a bad injury situation saw Aribo play up front. Yet he didn’t skip a beat, showcasing a versatility that could prove useful on the south coast.

FPL has priced the 25-year-old left-footer at £5.5m and, as the Saints usually deploy a 4-4-2 system, there is even a chance he could be used as an out-of-position forward.

Romeo Lavia (Manchester City to Southampton, £10.5m)

Aribo’s chances of starting in a midfield two further decreased with the addition of Romeo Lavia (£4.5m). The 18-year-old is yet to start a first-team league match but is the latest example of Southampton spending big and putting faith in ‘big six’ youth prospects.

Following last season’s purchase of Tino Livramento (£4.5m) and borrowing of Armando Broja (£5.5m), the Saints have now recruited Lavia and goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu (£4.5m) from Manchester City. A hat-trick will be completed should they also buy Liam Delap (£4.5m) from the champions.

Lavia’s inexperience, defensive-mindedness and tough early fixtures will keep FPL managers away.

Tyler Adams (RB Leipzig to Leeds United, £20m)

While coping with the huge loss of both Kalvin Phillips (£5.0m) and Raphinha, head coach Jesse Marsch has turned to familiar faces from his stints at both Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig.

The latest addition is dynamic central midfielder Tyler Adams (£5.0m). This USA international can also play at right-back, although the signing of Rasmus Kristensen (£5.0m) likely rules that out.

In an interesting piece for The Athletic, Adams speaks in depth about his own game and the way he thinks when on the pitch.

“I always err on the side that I’m going to win every single ball, so I tend to be aggressive and go for it. In the Red Bull DNA, counter-pressing is such an important thing. We try to win the ball as quickly as possible and aren’t afraid to make mistakes because we’re confident in our pressing as a team.”

“As a defensive midfielder, I think way, way more than I do as an outside back. I’m usually the only midfielder who is thinking of transition moments and what I need to do if my team loses the ball. It’s why I win a lot of balls. I’m always thinking about, ‘If this ball pops out here, am I in a good position to win it?’

“This part of my game – winning duels and running after balls – is something that I enjoy doing. I have a really big engine, I’m usually the fittest person on the field, so making these recovery runs, sprinting back to help win the ball back, is something that I’m good at.”

Key to Leeds United’s transformation this season will be the partnership Adams forms with fellow addition Marc Roca (£5.0m). He might not be an FPL prospect – having scored just twice in 103 Leipzig appearances – but may give hope to supporters that they can avoid relegation.

Flynn Downes (Swansea City to West Ham United, £12m)

Crystal Palace almost added Flynn Downes (£4.5m) to the impressive capture of Doucoure but were pipped late on by his boyhood club West Ham United.

A product of Ipswich Town’s youth academy, he moved to Swansea City last season and completed 92.6% of his 2,465 attempted passes – the highest pass-completion rate throughout England’s top four divisions. Having moved to east London, he can now team up with second-placed Declan Rice (91.6%).

148 career games have brought four goals and six assists, which should deter FPL managers.

Omar Richards (Bayern Munich to Nottingham Forest, undisclosed)

The round-up ends with a pair of defensive Nottingham Forest transfers. Firstly, left-back Omar Richards (£4.5m) arrives from Bayern Munich just a year after leaving Reading.

Richards made 12 Bundesliga outings and, according to WhoScored, has the skill set needed to excel as Steve Cooper’s left wing-back.

However, the signing jeopardises Jack Colback (£4.5m) being a steady provider of cheap midfield appearance points and it isn’t as tempting as having £4.0m teammate Neco Williams at right wing-back.

Moussa Niakhate (Mainz to Nottingham Forest, undisclosed)

Pacy centre-back Moussa Niakhate (£4.5m) is another to swap Germany for Nottingham, moving after four years at Mainz.

It’s a deal that proves just how powerful a pull the Premier League is, with an established 26-year-old defender choosing to join a newly-promoted team.

“The two wide centre-backs [at Nottingham Forest] are often key to progression, they will be charged with driving into midfield, attracting defensive cover to spring the two wing-backs who, in turn, will look to slot in the front two with their pace in behind.”Mark Sutherns

Although Niakhate’s four recent goals were preceded by three in 2020/21, he does seem to commit an above-average number of fouls, conceding 1.7 per game last season.

Apart from Neco Williams, Forest defenders are probably best avoided for the time being.

FPLMarc Newcastle fan that spends far too much time thinking about FPL.

    Hi guys.

Collect data and consider many things. I like my lastest draft for now, but I want to improve if I miss anything. Can u help?

Balance 442 but no Trent or Cancelo.

    Raya
    Vvd, Laporte, James, Perisic
    Salah, Kulu, Mount, Neto
Kane Captain (to Haaland gw2), Jesus

    Bal, Andreas P, Neco W, Sam G

    0.5 ITB for emergency.

    Anything I missed? TQ

What data is telling you to go without TAA and Cancelo?

        1. Calculate the value , using ppm and price. VVD can match Trent value but not Trent point. Trent one of the underachiever last season.

        2. Use simple calculation, if I get Trent, I cant get Kulu 8.0 and have to settle with Trossard 6.5 or minutes worry Martinelli.

If I try to get Cancelo I cant get Mount , just have to accept Coutinho. I feel Mount can shine brighter with Sterling in the team.

        Sterling better than Werner 🙂

VVD is better value than TAA and the $1m can be used better elsehwere, For example Allison vs Raya if you look at points for $ value last year.

Just have TAA and VVD so. That’s what I am doing. VVD is consistent 180+ per year, great value at 6.5 - totally agree.

Very nice Neto the only weak spot and there has to be 1.
I basically have Cancelo over Jesus and a third 8.0 mid with some other minor difference.
Having a lot of those premium defenders covered at least 2 * 8 mil mids and 2 premiums looks ideal good luck.
Tying downgrading Jesus spreading the cash and risking Kane / Haaland on their own up front and see if you like it? It means you can have TAA etc.

Tq... I want to have two strikers but do not convinced with any striker below 8.0 for now.

I'm ok without Trent as long my defenders keep delivering too.. 🙂

Fair enough on wanting 2 strikers it’s more about the picks that the formation anyway.
I just think you will want Trent. I get your VVD value argument. I have him in for that reason but I couldn’t go without TAA too. Too explosive his hauls hurt bad due to ownership when you don’t have him.

Yes, Trent will haul. We all know that but other players can haul too.

Maybe some week Trent owners happy, but the same manager maybe dont have our player like 8.0 mids who get haul some other weeks.

Maybe they just have one 8.0 mid and another 8.0 mids haul. Its just a psychology.

Trent maybe can haul more often but his COMBINATION like Martinelli, or Guimares or Trossard maybe can have lower and bigger gap points compare to 8.0 mids like Kulu, Mount, Saka etc.

I really like your team I think it is very balanced .
I also agree with you comments about the sub 8 forwards and losing the 8.0 mid price points if you go Trent and Cancelo It’s about where we make sacrifices.
But having said all this my point is this. You can have all the good points of your draft plus TAA and Cancelo if you considered a 541

Thats right... I can have better mids than Neto if I go 451... but what happen if Haaland / Kane (my only forward) didnt play?

I can get point only from 10 players, that the rule and I think that formation is quite dangerous.

But there is still time to think about that because Kane or Haaland maybe rarely drop. Maybe just subbed off after leading heavily ... Just my prediction.

                Thanks anyway AlbrightonKnight

What you say might be more of a factor this year with CL games a lot earlier and pretty much every week. Even the Haalands or Kanes of this world might not be immune from a benching and it is not like Haaland hasn’t had injuries either. Good point.

I feel this is quite strong without Salah and lots of captain options.

    Will rotate keepers

Can rotate Wilson & Johnson with the bench if fixtures look better. May even start Tomiyasu or Neco over Wilson in GW 1.

    Views ?

    Raya
    TAA James Cancelo
    Kulu Sterling Diaz Wilson
    Johnson Jesus Halland
    Sanchez Tomiyasu Neco Andreas

Just been watching top Pool goals a certain Mo Salah scored some nice ones 🙂
I have tinkered with these kinda drafts and I can see the attraction.
But I just have the fear without him.
If you are going with this I would still suggest 3 pool - so a Robbo or VVD for Johnson.
And in saying that I am putting you off one of your 2 great diff picks - him and Wilson. I want Wilson too but probably going to wait a few weeks for fixture changes.

I am going to look at a 3 rather than 5 premium defenders again after looking at this draft. Maybe there is merit it going big at the back but only with the very best of the best.

        I think so too.

If I swap Sterling to Salah it means taking 3 mill out and that means a non starting forward on my bench and losing Harry Wilson in midfield, unless I rip up the draft.

I run a few drafts and always drop back to a much stronger team and squad without Salah that will give me points and potential hauls from 1 - 11, whereas with Salah the other 10 are compromised.

My gamble is that a stronger group of 11 players will compensate for Salah … but I do fear missing out from Salah mega hauls in particular game weeks.

I tend to agree. Having 5 premium defenders given the short term nature of this season before the first wildcard is unwise. As for Salah I wont be captaining him for first 3 games so its an easy sacrifice not to have him.

In my view, most teams would be using their bench a lot meaning you won't need a strong bench since your player would most likely make an appearance. A lot of 1 pointers on the cards

Fpl should have at least increased the budget to a slight extent & allowed manual subs imo(more skill set), it would make the game even more interesting, I have played other fantasy football games with manual subs available instead of auto sub with the 5 subs rule being applied.

But since they didn’t, I think Fpl would be affected negatively imo

Trent is always overrated here. No one essential. If u dont captain him, means u dont really need him.

Always can have Robbo , Cancelo or VVD instead with cheaper price and match the value.

I have nothing against Trent, just sometimes feel annoyed with how people think.

We expect him to deliver and haul, yes, because he is most pricey defender. Thats why.

The first mistake is when people compare him with mids.

Dont compare him with mids, compare him with other defenders. Almost all good defenders will have better value than same price mids because the price structure is different for defs and mids. Thats something that we cant change. Thats obvious lol...

Trent is really good pick for FPL but remember another cheaper defenders can't match his point but can match his value. 😀

In order to choose most points we should have combination of 11 players. Not just 1 .

VVD plus Mount is better than
        Trent plus Trossard for example.

If we start just selecting the most point defenders .. all remaining players is 'crap'.

Agree. All defenders are better value then midfielders/attackers, just how it is.

We also aren’t locked into having or not having players. Antonio for example was an awesome pick for the start of the season before moving him onto to someone else.

Finally some reasonable response. Congrats and Tq.

If only take all premium defs just because 'value' and 5 ATB, Trent, Robbo etc, we'll lose some bandwagon like Antonio or Gundogan purple patch.

You put that well 3A. We use 11 players on the field and can only have 5 defenders at any one time. It is up to us how we spread the cash. TAA at 7.5 is less expensive than the many 8's available in midfield. This does not mean he is worth more points than them in an overall side; we still need 5 other players and to recoup points from them. On top of that we need a decent playing sub and a 4.5 defender is usually better than a 4.5 mid/forward, which leads to other arguments.
Robbo at 7 costs less than Trent and is likely to score slightly less than him. The problem arise not with the saving as much as what will you do with the extra cash.
I tend to pair off players such as 2 6.5's vs an 8 and a 5 with consideration of team structure. i see so many unnecessary transfers (me included) wasted trying to translate a defender to an attacker and such like.

How is Trent overrated? 3rd highest scoring player last season and 1.0M cheaper than Bowen who had the best and most explosive season of his life

I think there's a reasonable point that's got lost in here somewhere. Its not about "overrated" but whether Trent is best value (if uncaptained) compared to other defenders. For instance, if you choose "value (season)" in the FPL player list he comes out slightly behind VVD & Matip last season

It was in the last season but will it happen again? There is less chance in my opinion that's why I think TAA is essential. If you think it will happen again then you may be right

I have Trent for now but I do think its open to debate. Last season I had only Matip as my Pool defender for a while & it coincided with quite a big rank climb

Simply because of the 5 subs rule but it also depends on the individual. I’m not a fan of the auto subs rule in fpl because I believe as managers we should be able to make our own subs ourselves than depend on the fpl system.

I’m not a serious fpl manager like others but with the new 5 subs rule, lots of 1 points flying around & rotation could affect some managers who already have issues with the game from previous seasons

If playing a free game causes you mental health issues, it's not due to a minor rule change.

Like I said it depends on the individual but also the game imo. Not a serious fpl manager like some investing money in it for Mini leagues etc so I can’t get affected but it’s obvious that the new rule will definitely have its own impact imo

Partytime, I agree with you. If not for the reasons you gave. FFS had over 3m visits in May. If a Hot Topic or Post that discussed mental health and offering basic advice on where to start looking for help, took just one person on the path to rid themselves of their dark thoughts, then what a real benefit this site would be. Just my musings.

I’m also not saying it’s a bad thing to have hot topics on this but just feel fpl could also try to make things a bit better for those affected. The 5 subs rule is crazy & imo, they did nothing about it. Auto subs would make it worse.

Feel like if they slightly increased the budget & allowed manual subs it could help tackle it & maybe help some who get frustrated when they have points on their bench & can’t use it or when managers sub players off before the 60th minute mark.

In summary, I meant it depends on the individual, he/she has to know what exactly is the problem & when to stop but also the game (FPL) could also do their bit by making it fun & not “too” competitive. If you have the chance to make subs, isn’t that better? Other than let the system do that for you.

Only shared this because I play other fantasy football games that allows manual sub with the new rule active, even with covid present, this really isn’t a problem because manual subs would go a long way imo

Covid disruptions would have impacted way more on people because they were unpredictable and people really seem to like to kid themselves that they have control over this game and it is skill based whereas we know that luck plays a large role. FFS have discussed mental health around that time before.

I think the 5 subs rule is quite different to the Covid situation. It’s contracting with the player from the start of the game that it is a factor, just like the World Cup unlimited transfers. These things aren’t being sprung on us mid season and affecting our meticulous plans.

That said, I would encourage anyone who is struggling to seek help by googling Samaritans, their local mental health services directly or their GP. It’s likely there’s a lot more going on in your head that you’re maybe not aware of and you will be listened to.

You’re right. Although when covid was at its peak, fpl did allow unlimited transfers so in a way I think that helped some managers.

Managers would have to adapt & maybe it won’t affect some like I thought. Also encourage those who could get affected to seek help or probably quit playing the game if it persists.

Yeah but like I say, on the other side of the coin you had people who had meticulously planned their chip usage and then suddenly everyone got additional wild cards etc and I think that’s where most have a problem. When the rules change mid season.

Bottom line is, FPL isn’t going to dramatically affect your mental health if you don’t have pre existing issues that lead you to obsess over it more than you should.

I think it depends on the individual, think anything can affect one regardless of if he/she had a pre existing issue or not. In my opinion, it’s possible for one not to have a pre existing issue & still get affected.

Of course but a person without a pre existing condition would either have the resilience to deal with the minor annoyance of a player scoring 1 point or the wherewithal to quit something they aren’t enjoying.

I appreciate that you have good intentions here Partytime, but I think you're way off in worrying about these very specific details of the game. Regardless of any particular rules, FPL can present a risk to beat yourself up for bad decisions / results when your thought processes get stuck like that. But it can also help through difficult times. I struggled with depression myself a few years ago (before I started playig FPL), and during the start of the pandemic I found that starting to play fantasy IPL was one of the things that kind of helped me in providing a new hobby to occupy my mind at a time when I struggled for motivation to do much else.

Record last season is too small a sample considering he only started 5 games. Put his attacking threat & set piece expertise together wih Newcastle's massive defensive improvement, and you get proper haul potential I think. Only defender outside of City/Pool/Spurs that I'm considering (except bench)

Nailed on in my team. Infact i really like the 5.0 defenders this year considering the season is divided into 4 blocks(so one can play the fixtures).

          My defense is currently
          Mendy
TAA Trippier Digne Gabriel Neco ie 3/4 at the back.. and I'm pretty happy about it.

        Trent VVD Cancelo Trippier (Neco)
        Salah Mahrez Rashford Neto (Andreas)
        Kane Jesus (4.5m)

Kane to Haaland at some point.

Definitely don't drop neco. 4.0 playing wingback is gold. Maybe the most key player in the game. Also remains to be seen if laporte is first choice.

Personally seeing as you have kane id swap salah for diaz, jesus for haaland and reinvest the 1.5

What are your thoughts on who will score more (total points) in the first 8 GW's- Pope vs Ramsdale and also reason for it? I feel like it will be very close.

Comparing the first 8GWs it will be close, but comparing the first 10GWs then I'd say Pope because GW 9 + 10 Arsenal have Spurs and Liverpool, whilse Newcastle have Fulham and Brentford.

Yeah I'm trying to avoid going double Arsenal in the back 6 even though fixturewise they could outperform

Starting Ramsdale then swapping to Schmeichel for GW9 would be a good way of doing it. Gives only one 'red' fixture (away to Man Utd) in 13 GWs. You could potentially make £0.1m profit on this as well.

Yeah Newcastle WHU (away) aside from the Big 2 in the first 8 might lose CS

For this period only, probably Ramsdale given the fixtures. I do really like Pope as an option too though - think he's going surprisingly under the radar & prefer him to Mendy

With his Bonus record and Newcastles new and improved Defence he might touch around 150?

Very pleased with this draft. Not keen on BATB anymore, i think.

        Sanchez
        TAA Cancelo James Tomyasu
        Salah Saka LDiaz Neto
        Haaland Wilson
        (4.0, 4.0, 4.5, 4.5)

0.5ITB for Wilson > Jesus depending on how they start. The 0.5 gives flexibility

its a really nice team, like it alot. mine isnt miles away - but its amazing what 0.5m gets you here and there

          MARTINELLI / NETO
          WILSON / JESUS
          SANCHEZ / RAMSDALE / MENDY
          SAKA / FODEN

small differences but these are the make or break ones you need a bit of luck with

I like it. Also been looking at 442, with Toney and. 5.0 defender rather than Wilson and Tomi, but like both tbh

Also doable with Jesus, Perisic and cheaper mid in place of Saka.

Yeah did look at Grealish. And Rashford, suppose these are the decisions that need to be made, i dont want to tie myself into big at the back, just not keen on playing a 5-3-2

                Mine is currently:

                Raya
                TAA, Cancelo, Chilwell, Perisic
                Salah, Diaz, Sinisterra, Neto
                Haaland, Jesus

                4.0; Neco, Andreas, 4.5

It’s nice but personally wouldn’t want to tie myself down with neto and sinisterra. I think 3 nailed midfielders are important, that 8.0M stands out to me as a very important price point, having 2 allows to move in and out easily

I agree for the most part (Sinisterra is nailed, Raphinha replacement), but it’s Jesus that is the temptation away from a second 8m mid for me, as Diaz is nailed to my team and until I see who lines up for city it’s only really Saka I would want from the start from that pool right now.

Don’t want Jesus AND Saka, so it’s either 8m ST or MID. I’m inclined to think 8m mid is better despite what I posted above. But Jesus stands out as well above the other strikers to me, so it’s tough.

Yeah not sure on Toney without Eriksen! But i do like Trippier, i like Wilson for his first two games Forest home Brighton away. The 0.5 ITB allows for wilson > jesus if i need

This team doesn't have 0.5 ITB i'm pretty sure?

I have the same team almost but Jesus for Saka and Coutinho for Wilson and I do have the 0.5.

        Thoughts? Latest threemium draft

        Sanchez
        TAA,Laporte,Perisic,Mings
        Salah,Son,Martinelli,Neto
        Haaland,Toney

        Steele | Neco,Andreas,4.5

        My Plan?
        Gw3 Neto > Mid everton Gray/Gordon
        Gw4 Mings > Dunk/Tomiyasu
        Gw5 Toney > Solanke

        Sound good?

I like the team but the plan is pointless as no doubt someone will emerge as a bandwagon or Everton will start like crap or something like that that makes if obsolete

Maybe just start with Tomiyasu? I dont see a huge advantage in 3 weeks of Mings when Tomi has good fixtures too

I remember a few years ago that the fashion was to not waste any more money than strictly necessary at the back. Leighton Baines was the go-to premium defender - if you actually wanted one - and 3-4-3 teams with 5 x 4.5m players rotating at the back were not uncommon at the start of the season. Fast forward about a decade and I'm currently thinking that even at 4.0m, Neco Williams is an shameful waste of a fantastic value for money defenders spot. Changed days.

What's changed here is the potency of top defenders. Baines was a stand-out defender in those days, now we're inundated with them. If you take Neco now, it would be to get a mid-price midfielder or forward. Now, that mid/fed is unlikely to outscore a 5.5 or 6m defender.

        Meslier (Raya)
        Trent Perisic Cash Tomiyasu (Neco)
        Odegaard Salah Diaz Kulu (Andreas)
        Haaland Jesus (Greenwood)

Nicely balanced I think, I did have Trippier over Neco and Neto over Odegaard and played a 5-3-2 but think this is nicely balanced.

Only having one city option is a bit frustrating...

          Yes

If he nails down a starting spot which he should he will be a very attacking wingback. The fact he is listed as a defender is surprising in some respects, he is more of a winger but he will play wingback under Conte.

Clean sheet and attacking returns potentially

Didn't he play the majority of his games at WB last season for Inter in a similar system? He's played WB for a while now unless I'm mistaken.
