In this Half-Term Report series, we look at how all the top-flight FPL players and teams have fared so far.

FPL bosses will get unlimited transfers before Gameweek 17, so these articles will hopefully help you pinpoint some key targets for the Boxing Day resumption.

Here, we focus on West Ham United, who languish in 16th place after two successful seasons under David Moyes.

There are two main problems with West Ham’s attack this season: the ability to create big chances and putting the damn ball in the net.

The two things are typically linked, of course: if you’re having lots of low-quality efforts (almost 40% of the Hammers’ shots have been taken from outside the area), you’re less likely to score.

Only Wolves have a worse shot-to-goal conversion rate than West Ham (5.9%) this season, while the same two clubs are 20th and 19th for the percentage of efforts that ended up on target.

The east Londoners’ NPxG is comfortably mid-table, and actually seventh-best from Gameweek 5 onwards:

It’s on the road where West Ham have really struggled for goals, with just three of them arriving in their seven away matches.

And yet, Moyes’ troops average more xG and big chances per match on their travels (1.4 and 1.6) than on home soil (1.3 and 1.4). No club has struck the woodwork more in away fixtures (four), so we’re chalking this one up to big fat variance.

    Found this and i think it's important, might work with other players as well (like Zaha who usually starts season strong). What do you think?

    "Callum Wilson is a dangerous prospect when fresh, to the extent he's almost advised to be backed blind to score when he's well rested up. This theory comes from his form at the start of a season.
    Wilson has a history of scoring goals early on in a campaign. In the last nine seasons when he has been fit enough to start a season (eight out of nine), Wilson has scored on average five goals in the first eight matchdays of that season - and that's not including his two-goal haul in the first three matchdays this season before he suffered a hamstring issue.
    Overall it works out at an average goals scored per 90 minutes of 0.6 in the first eight matchdays of a season. That compares to a 0.3 average in games over the course of the rest of the season. His body seems to peak when he's had a good break from competitive action - as he has over the past six weeks with his role with England being restricted to cameo appearances when a game had been already won."

        Akanji is Ok with Dias flagged but I'd have an exit plan ready. Perroud offers a lot of attacking potential, great fixtures & new mngr bounce, I like him over Tarkowski. Zaha is great if disappointment is your thing.

        Depends on why you might think as to why he was benched. If it was because he had eyes on the WC (and not pick up injuries), that should be gone. Something else - might still apply
