I only have 10 players and didn’t like the idea of using it to help make up the numbers.

Plus Salah or Haaland home to Luton in a single is in my mind.

Your 1st point doesn't make sense, you captain player you think will score most, you TC player you think will go berserk.

Looks like you think that Luton are better team to target and that's fair enough, so had you TC'd Salah this week you'd be saying wish I kept my TC" come Luton fixture.

          Season is long, relax.

Not really, I don’t like using chips when you have to take hits that week or if you don’t have a full team, that’s why it’s rare people use the TC in blank weeks.

Fair enough if that's the way you, like to play the game.

Your result at the end of the season is nothing else than a sum of individual scores of the players you've owned\fielded - that's all - so mathematically it makes no difference whether you fielded 10 or 9 or took a hit in a week when you decided to TC.

15 points in GW2 is not a “massive risk” unless you genuinely believed you had a chance of winning the whole thing.

We (as managers) have been ruled by fear too much since the latest information boom, both are elite picks but it’s hard to argue that Salah isn’t the better pick on paper.

Sometimes you have to make a decision to take control back from the online warlords who are deciding how you play the game, captaining Haaland while owning both is done purely out of fear of the masses, if it flops it’s early enough to recover.

    A. Maddison (bou)
    B. Jackson (LUT)

I brought him in last night to beat the price rise. Probably stupid but I'm happy to wildcard worst case.

Sold Foden though, before Sheffield Utd. Which is risky.

Missed the Madders rise by minutes just now. Original plan was a -4 to do Martinelli, Joao Pedro, Shaw to Madders, Jackson, Henry. Now I'm 0.1 short. What's the best alternative?

    1) Get Richarlison in Madders' place
    2) Get Gusto in Henry's place
    3) Get Mbeumo/Diaby in Madders' place

I'd rather own Pedro, Shaw and Martinelli tbh. Jackson could be a worse punt than Pedro since Pedro may well be the bargain of the season as the only viable attacker under 6 million. Shaw can go for Stones/Henry/Botman in a few weeks.. no need to do it so early. Martinelli is one of the best attackers in the game.. arsenal will be in the top 2 to 3 goal scorers in the epl while the jury is still out on whether spurs will be as prolific.

I considered it because City don’t look like they would score 5 goals vs Newcastle without Kdb, Bilva, Gündoğan, Mahrez compared to Liverpool against Bournemouth

Captained Haaland because he can score against any team, van’t ignore his consistency & want him to score vs a dirty Newcastle team but a Liverpool attacker is the best captain. 9-0 last season. Glad I have 2 Liverpool midfielders just in case they go big.

Think I’ve got my tactics wrong. Equal world leader has Haaland and Rashford on the bench in a free hit. Aurier captain and Dennis and Bénie up front and Shef Utd double up in defence.

Why aren’t content creators recommending this winning formula?

Fellow pickford/turner owners, what are you doing ? 2 ft here so thinking pickford out for johnstone/onana/sanchez. My luck with goalkeeper points has always been bad.

      The simplest of holds.

He didn't have to make any saves in his first match so that's got to be a positive sign, and Onana was ridiculously lucky to get a CS. Pickford has the same fixtures as Johnstone also. Only Sanchez a potential switch but not worth an effective hit (which assuming you have other transfers to make in the near future it will likely result in)

Missed the part about 2FT, if really no other transfers that would improve your team, then possibly Sanchez with James no longer a factor, but risky if a 3rd Chelsea attacker emerges in addition to Jackson.

Ok so I have a pretty template team like many who also kept their ft. Now next gw reads like this:
    Onana (NFO)
Estupinan (WHU) Gabriel (FUL) Chilwell (LUT)
Saka (FUL) Martinelli (FUL) Rashford (NFO) Bruno (NFO) Foden (shu)
    Haaland (shu) Jackson (LUT)

What on earth were we saving our transfer for barring injury..? Tbh ofc I knew it and there’s always niggles and preferences but for now, to me, that looks optimal.

I’m glad you think that’s optimal because that’s my team (except I’m getting Jackson in).

Burning FTs actually helps with the final rank at the end of the season, IIRC from the rules

Or it could be a good time to make a small bench optimisation. I'm thinking Baldock to Gusto, to catch some rises and maybe play him over Estupiñán or Saliba sometimes. If I had any other 4.5m forward, I'd have gone from him to Osula... Stuff like that, very close to the deadline after checking for team news, rumours et al

    4. shorey143
      • 2 Years

I ignored the echo chamber as too looked ahead to Week 3 and have a benching headache. I probably couldn’t do much better with a free hit. So did a transfer this week and will use the carry over to Week 4 where it will be much more useful

  9. Atimis

I’ve been thinking about Pedro to Jackson but not sure it is worth. Pedro can simply stay as best value pick here. So eventually Chelsea double def for Luton?

Not sure what your set up is but I’m probably looking at two options Pedro for Jackson and 0.5 saving from Ødegaard, Bruno, Foden or Udogie, or Jackson for Osula with Mbeumo coming in

Much prefer the latter (even losing Bruno), to allow flexibility and to keep Pedro who I think looks great

352 right now without Salah, just don’t really like rotating players so indeed would have to go from Martinelli Jota to Jackson Maddison but it requires 3 transfers so a -4

I wouldn’t be worried about a hit. Hits early in the season are helpful in setting up your team with loads of games to get the benefit. I’d like to see Maddison in a second game before losing Martnelli who’s probably going to get around 200 points for the season.

I take your point about rotating players but one good sub seems useful, particularly with a lot of injuries going about, and Pedro looks good despite a difficult few games.

I can also see the benefit of a stripped down bench - 2 points autosub is of limited use

I don’t understand the ‘you must get off Brighton players for hard fixs’, they tend to turn up against the big teams & their style won’t change, they’ll still attack.

Think Pedro is a hold until he loses his place (which might never happen)

I was thinking the same thing. It doesn't look good for him, and I don't see why City would bring someone in who looks like they're going to get a long(ish) suspension. Unless they already had an alternative in mind, I don't see City making a purchase, and will just make do with what they have. I think we'll see a variety of formations over the coming weeks as Pep tries to see what is going to work. Alvarez might be appealing, but I'm going to give it a bit of time unless someone hits a purple patch.

And yes, an FFS article about problem gambling would be just the ticket.

You can see how footballers fall into the trap. They earn way more money than they need, they have lots of downtime, many are in different continents to their friends/family, they're surrounded by betting ads in their workplace, and their whole life is geared around football. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a lot more of this. That said, if he's been betting on his own yellow cards, then he won't get any sympathy from me.

      1. Toon lurk

Yes, that's the allegation, it appears. It's madness. How much money gets put on yellow cards? For his wages, he'd need to be putting huge sums on to make a worthwhile return, which clearly would ring alarm bells. If it is true, then a 2 year ban would be fair.

    Turner (Areola)
    Gusto Saliba Chilwell (Kabore Baldock)
    Saka Fernandes Jota Rashford Odegaard
    Jackson Haaland (Mubama)

    1.5m ITB, 1 FT

Thinking Turner >> Ederson for free?

    Thank you for your time.

Wouldnt do Ederson personally, a 5m keeper as high as id go.

I'd definitely want to upgrade one of those keepers. Not keen on spending more than 5 mil on a keeper but city do have some good fixtures. Personally I'd be looking at Johnstone at Palace who have some decent fixtures coming up

When FPL priced Haaland at 14.0m do you think it would deter more folk than 9.2% (non-?

Think the issue was all the other prices were too low to force you to A decision on Haaland. If Saka and Rashford were 1.5m more I’d expect more non Haaland teams. But you can have it all this year

These price rises before the gw has finished, I don't think they should happen. They catch the casual player out and I don't think gambling on fitness or whatever comes from today's game should be part of the game.

Do you agree that prices should be frozen until Sunday or Monday night,

    1. Stamford B
      • 2 Years

No it’s part of the game. It’s mainly the casuals driving it.

      1. Stamford B
        • 2 Years

Brings in a nice element of risk and that only increases the skill side of the game.

Yes, they should change several times per hour. Sometimes jumping 1m in a day. If you’re not putting in 18 hours a day you’re a casual

Ignore price changes. It makes you chase points rather than really thinking who will next return points.

Play fan team. They only occur once the next gameweek starts. Extremely chilled out way of doing it. Reckon it drives a bit of team diversity too given people have a bit more time to think about transfers rather than just chasing 0.1s on the first couple of nights.

    Rodri - Kovačić

They're also unbeaten this season with 1 win.

A draw in the Super Cup and a loss in the pre-season friendly against Arsenal on penalties, in the curtain raiser.

It's only 8 days in and the narrative forms quickly.

You’d think Onana being at home, but Forest have more goal threat than Sheff Utd. That said, City are still settling in at the back so I think I’d go Onana, just.
