How FPL Blank Gameweek 29 looks after the FA Cup replays

The results of the midweek FA Cup fourth-round replays are significant for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers.

The quarter-finals of the FA Cup are on the same weekend as Gameweek 29, so there’ll be scheduled league fixtures postponed as a result of that clash.

And with many of the surviving big boys being given favourable draws in the round of 16, it could be quite a big Blank Gameweek.

But Chelsea’s win over Aston Villa on Wednesday means that we now know three Premier League fixtures will go ahead as planned.

Here’s the lowdown.

FA CUP FIFTH ROUND DRAW

  • Blackburn vs Newcastle
  • Chelsea vs Leeds
  • Bournemouth vs Leicester
  • Liverpool vs Southampton
  • Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United
  • Wolves vs Brighton
  • Coventry vs Maidstone
  • Luton vs Manchester City

(Premier League clubs in bold)

FPL BLANK GAMEWEEK 29 SUMMARY

The draw for the first round of the 2019/20 FFS Cup

So, three Gameweek 29 fixtures are confirmed as unaffected by the FA Cup clash that weekend.

It’s very plausible that we get as many as six blanks, with seven being the maximum.

If all goes to plan in terms of the bookies’ favourites, the following fixtures will be the only ones going ahead in Gameweek 29:

  • Fulham v Spurs
  • Burnley v Brentford
  • West Ham v Aston Villa
  • Luton v Nottm Forest

To get seven blanks, we’d need to see wins for Newcastle, Chelsea, Bournemouth, Liverpool, Brighton, Man Utd and Luton in the FA Cup fifth round.

WHEN WILL WE KNOW FOR SURE WHICH GAMEWEEK 29 FIXTURES ARE GOING AHEAD?

We won’t know about the confirmed blanks until the midweek before Gameweek 27, when the FA Cup fifth round takes place.

I need a cheap enabler. Who do you suggest?

    a) Branthwaite

    b) Van Hecke

    c) Bradley

    d) Bell

    e) other

I think A is great and amazed he's still so cheap. I'll be getting B for my bench soon, so either of those for me.

      A.
Maybe C or D if you want to play them in upcoming double Gameweeks. I'm only considering B to save the extra £0.1m but I'd go A for security of minutes (which, let's face it, is what you want from your enabler)

Doesn't matter. I would start Gordon. If and since he is injured, he won't make 1 pt cameo now. There have been situations when people benched injured Saka just see him start and score. As long as there is 0.5% chance of start for the better player, it is usually worth doing. However, in some cases with players like R James the risk of injury reoccurrence changes things. He just can't be trusted to make 60 minutes after injury.

Surely bench Solanke for the next two rather than use 2FTs to sell him next GW and bring back in 27?

Me too. Gordon is injured and I can't afford to sell him for Jota without extra hit. Owning and watching Darwin isn't fun, but he is not missing all his chances.

Contemplating doing it myself this week. Feels foolish as he very well may come back into the side but Mitoma's return may further muddy the waters a bit, and the punt on Doughty this week for Sheffield Utd before two doubles feels like it's the best chance of it paying off

KDB being out all season and Haaland missing 2 months has been a huge part of that, no way Pep ever planned to make him play that many games in a row (although I'm not sure just how much he'll be rotated but it has to be taken into consideration)

So GW24 to GW29 summary mainly for my own benefit, with the more obvious/common players in brackets:

GW24: plum fixtures for DGW25 teams, consider taking a hit a week early if you wee going to take it next week anyway.

GW25: DGW for City (Haaland, Foden, Alvarez, KDB, Foden, Walker), Pool (Jota, TAA, Salah, Darwin, Robertson, Virgil, Diaz), Brentford (Toney) & Luton (Doughty, Adebayo)

GW26: Blank for Chelsea (Palmer), Pool, Spurs (Rich, Porro, Son) & Luton - so in GW25 make sure no more than 3 (ignoring keepers) from those 4 teams.

    GW27: All normal

GW28: DGW for Bournemouth (Solanke, Neto) and Luton (Doughty)

GW29: Could only be 3 games: Burnley (Taylor if fit), Brentford, Fulham (Leno), Spurs, West Ham (Areola, Bowen, JWP), Villa (Watkins, Luiz, Diaby, Bailey)

    Conclusion:
Toney has 6 Games in a 5 week period: nice and stable differential (for now)

Stable core players with a GW29 and 5 games in 5 gw's, no blanks or doubles: Taylor (if fit), Leno, Areola, Bowen, JWP, Watkins, Luiz, Diaby, Bailey

Doubling players to rotate around blanks but still with 5 games:
    - 2 doubles, 2 blanks: Doughty and Adebayo
    - 5 games than a blank: Foden, Alvarez, KDB, Haaland, Walker, Solanke, Neto

    4 games but no blanks:
    - Richarlison, Porro, Son

Doubling players but only 4 games with 2 blanks
    - 1 double, 2 blanks: Jota, TAA, Salah, Darwin, Robertson, Diaz, Virgil

Finally, Palmer - 3 games, 2 blanks, no doubles.

I would do Pedro > Toney for a hit but dont' have the cash and don't want to ditch Watkins instead. So woudl need to do Saka > Luiz to achieve it also for a hit.

I have KDB Foden and Alvarez and not enough ITB to do Alvarez>Haaland without major surgery.

Whom are you selling for Nacho? Can't you fo anything sneaky and more clever? I have same MCI trio, but I have the money. Haaland's price is rising fast, so better bite the bullet now. Get him. I will take either Jota or prolly Darwin in.
