Early days with this one I'll probably decide nearer the deadline but
Which option is best this week
A -Bowen to Salah for -4 & captain him .Get Haaland for Morris in 31 or
B-Captain Son this week. Get Salah & Haaland in 31 for a -4

        Thanks that's what I'm thinking
Price changes may force it anyway only £0.2m to spare if I got both Salah & Haaland this week .
        Playing free hit 34 , wildcard 35/36 & bench boost in 37
I'll take a look at yours

    GTG? Play Garnacho over Saka?

    Neto
    Gabriel Robinson Pau
    Salah Son Saka Palmer
    Haaland Watkins Solanke

    Areola Garnacho Doughty Van Hecke

I would play Saka ahead of Garnacho, although I'm benching Saka for Gordon.

      It's a tough one.

I want to play Saka but favouring both Foden and MacA at the moment.

Have done a WC and will start Garnacho over Saka (have the same midfield)... small differential could pay and be surprised if Saka gets double figures for example even if he might get one G/A I think at best

Captaining Son and not having Salah - if Son blanks then Sunday becomes a very tense day.

It's just 1GW. If the scenario happens then switch off FPL/PL and go do something else.

It's not like Son can blank 2 weeks in a row is it?

He's also flown to Seoul and Thailand but I'm sure he's used to it.

In normal FPL what have I done wrong with this active wildcard below?

I intend to BB34 so Gusto and Muniz can become Crystal Palace players next month.

    Pickford Kelleher
    Gabriel White Gusto RAN Branthwaite
    Salah Saka Foden Palmer MacA
    Haaland Watkins Muniz

    £2.5m itb.

Bench boost gw34 and just play into Spurs etc for gw37.

Also MacA for Spurs mid after 34

This article seems to miss out on the much more common luck factor that affects most of the posters on here - having a choice between 2 equally good players which is basically a coin flip, you transfer in one of them and they do nothing and the other player (who is also going to be popular as they are equally good) ends up scoring a brace 3 games in a row.

Those aren't high risk gambles, you just ended up with the unlucky one of the two common picks.

The other one is players who go on ridiculous purple patches, and so you ignore them initially as they are statistically outscoring what they should be getting, you eventually jump on them as everyone else has them and then their purple patch ends and you don't get any points. Again, that isn't high risk but you just end up with bad luck. Players are 'in form' until their aren't and they are 'out of form' till they aren't. No one has any idea when that will start or end, you can try and use fixtures to help guide it but good players still blank in easy fixtures quite often.

      Oh, it's timing and EO.

Tbf, I wildcarded immediately on the Haaland news and got Trent in and that worked and I also wildcarded this week to take out KDB for Salah and to avoid the hit.

It's not like poker tho, because transfer value apart, we are all playing with the same cards face up.

      It's a good idea.

But it's probably more valuable in gw37 so you don't need to load up on those players.

Mind, people are loading up on those players and using it to avoid holding good players in gw34.

      So what do I know?

I think it's very team dependent and what chips you have left.

Luckily for me I can field 9 dgw with 2 hits in 34. I plan on wc in 35/36 with the aim of 15 player bb in 37 which won't include and Liverpool and arsenal.

Fh38 allows me to target the last gw with no restriction

FPL Challenge - don't know if it's been mentioned, but isn't there a loophole to be able to get your subbed player who might've scored a couple to definitely play by then just transferring in a player that is definitely not going to start?

Therefore isn't it better to play the game with early kick-off players being on your bench?

if there are loopholes then you wonder what they have been doing for 9 months

MLS fantasy has the same loophole. Unlimited weekly transfers on that game as well. Fill your bench with early starters is an accepted tactic on MLS fantasy.

Whilst I am here if you like the idea of the new game:

      Challenge Charlie
      c2h1h5

      1. Funkyav
        • 14 Years

i dont think it works like that, it says once a player has played they are locked in your team so you cant transfer out like in UCL fantasy

        1. Charlie Price
          • 3 Years
          1 month, 13 days ago

Yes you are correct in that UCL fantasy allows you to sub out players after they have played whereas FPL Challenge will not.

However, here is a simple (I hope) example to explain what you can do:

Select Dubravka as one of your goalkeepers and bench him because he plays at 12.30pm on the Saturday. If he has a great game and scores say 10 points then you remove your ‘field’ keeper from your squad who plays say on Sunday and replace him with a keeper who is no longer in the game due to say injury or transfer to another league.

At the end of the gameweek your goalkeeper who did not play is autosubbed out for Dubravka. You then get the 10 points that were trapped on your bench. Of course it all depends on how many points you feel is enough to justify this tactic known as a ‘switcheroo’ or ‘keeperoo’ in MLS fantasy.

I played Telegraph Fantasy in the 94/95 era when Shearer, Le Tiss, Solksjaer, Irwin were the picks. You had three transfers per season I think? Had to post off the coupon to put them through.

I was playing Telegraph Fantasy on-line in 2003/04 I remember. This was when the SPL teams were in it I remember having Arteta at Rangers and Sutton/Larsen/Thompson/Agathe from Celtic.

I think FPL started circa a year before I first entered in 2006/07?

My first year on the Telegraph "paper and post" I had Collymore in his season at Forest and Fowler in his breakout - they used to post the top x number of players in the paper and I missed out by a few points, gutted. Then in my dads office league I won it on the last day of the season as the other guy had Gerrard when he got sent off final day of the season so had minus points against Chelsea. Chelsea went to the Champions League at Liverpool expense (Liverpool fan so bitter sweet!)

I think my best route to Salah is to sell Foden and Watkins. It makes no sense to sell Odegaard prior to Luton and a DGW incoming. On that basis, I guess I have to ride this week out Salah-less as Watkins and Foden at least both have home games and Ode is an easy bench. I can't see a -4 paying off. Next week falls into place with Watkins being away to City makes him an easy sell. No doubles, won't ever captain etc.

    Areola
    Gabriel Zabarnyi Gusto
    Son(c) Saka Foden Palmer
    Haaland Watkins Solanke

    Turner Odegaard Branthwaite Doughty

You have a very similar team to me.

And yes, I have the same conclusion.

Going to bench Odegaard this week and then next week lose (probably) Foden and Watkins to buy Salah and Darwin.

Probably won't be a great week for me but it makes more sense to hold Foden and Watkins this week rather than take big hits now. Better to do it next week.

My other worry is Son(c) Foden Watkins is perfectly fine this week. All at home and all good players.

If I bring in Salah I'll likely get tempted to (c).

Then if Son goes off and Watkins hauls, this could be compounded if Salah blanks. It's got disaster written all over it!

Son(c) Foden Watkins vs Son Salah(c) Odegaard -4. Too close to call.

Next week Foden & Watkins out, Salah(c) & Mateta in I think for me. I'll then have Salah(c) v SU, and double Arsenal mids v Luton.

          Yep all makes sense.

I have this interesting option next week.

          A) Odegaard + Foden
          B) Son + Havertz -4

          Which would you go for?

I worry about City rotation. Perhaps for no reason where Foden is concerned. I'm loathe to sell but have to really. He's at home next week too. Not sure on Havertz. Still a start doubt. Son doubles later 35/36/37, can always get him later.

A for me quite comfortably. Perhaps move Foden on later for a DGW34 player?

Cheers. We'll see how things look after this week. I've done my transfer this week already. Been a snooze of an intl break. Just want FPL back already.

I want Darwin and Salah for SHU. And the two best ways I can get them are by selling either Son or Foden to fund it. If I sell Foden I'd also have to do Odegaard > Havertz hence the question.

I have the same front 8 as you do right now. I think Havertz is a fantastic pick. His stats are much better than Odegaard's. It's just the minutes but 6 starts in a row including 2 when Jesus is fit seems to bode well. We'll see. It'll be a decision for next week.

When you put it like that, maybe he is a nice little shout?!
I've done Senesi>Gusto. I want rid of Turner & Doughty and need to get Salah in so I may wildcard for 31, save the hit and clear out my dross. We'll have to see how punchy I am after this week!

Son could wreck havoc this GW. Find another route to bring in Salah, even if for a hit.

    Only FH & WC left.

Thinking FH34, WC35/36 and load up doublers for GW37

    Any other suggestions?

If your team is in good shape now that is a good way.

But if it's not, WC now and FH37 is just as good.

WC now or wait till 33? Only reason I'm looking to wait till 33 is cause I wanna hold onto spurs players till 33, then loose them and get them again on FH37. But the downside is I may need to take a couple hits between now and GW32 if I wait.

*BB34 also happening, so can't bench spurs players in 34.

Which team has the best fixtures for gw30-33 and which players to target during 30-33 if FH34 and WC35?

Still have WC, BB and FH. How's this strategy based on my current squad?

GW30 - Roll FT and do Son (c) v LUT
      GW31 - Son > Salah
      GW34 - FH
      GW35 - WC
      GW37 - BB

      Areola
      Gabriel - Gusto - Konsa
      Son (c) - Rich - Foden - Palmer - Saka
      Haaland - Watkins

      Raya - Branthwaite - Morris - Doughty

37 looks to be better teams but could be more rotation then
