Paddy Power – Get 33/1 on England Euro 16 Win

Paddy Power are offering huge enhanced odds of 33/1 on England to win Euro 16 for a limited time only.

England’s current regular price is 9/1 so this is a great opportunity to open an account with our betting partners and back Roy’s boys in France.

The offer closes at midnight tonight and is open to new customers in UK and Ireland only.

Sign up for an account and place your first bet up to a maximum of €/£10 on England to win Euro 2016 at this boosted price.

Should England lift the trophy you’ll be paid in cash based on the normal Paddy price on the site but will have the extra amount, bringing the bet up to the cumulative 33/1 payout, credited in free bets added to your account.

In addition to this one time offer, if you stake a total of five or more €/£10+ bets weekly on Sportsbook Paddy will give you a free €/£10 bet each week of the Euros until the tournament ends.

Be sure to check the terms and conditions on this and other betting offers and, of course, we should state that all these specials are only available to those aged 18. If you’re going to wager, always gamble responsibly.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I'm currently on Hector Juanfran Denayer Dragovic Kadlec with nothing left in the bank, and my front 8 looks good. The only way I can do it is if this 4.0 Portugal defender will play, so I can get him instead of Kadlec and upgrade Dragovic to an Italy defender, and get Almer as 2nd gk instead of Patricio.

            Long shot though 😀

I have done a brief study of most of the markets and the bookies seem to be working to pretty hefty overounds in their favour. For obvious reasons some are battening down the hatches as a consequence of Leicester ( their markets are much tighter for 2016/7).
I will only be monitoring over/under 2.5 goal markets for when prices are favourable.
      Good luck with your bets.

Does anyone consider bets based on a potential cash out option? For e.g. bet on Lewandowski as tournament top scorer and if he scores 1+ in their first game, surely you can cash out some profit. This may work well on Gomez who may not start the entire tournament but could be the top scorer in group stages

      1. George Sillett
        • 8 Years

I personally don't as if you are considering that at the onset you can't be 100% confident in your bet obliging.
Cash out should only be utilised sparingly.

        • 10 Years
        8 years, 4 days ago

No, find the derivative of your bet if you're looking at that. Cashing out has horrendous margins. If you're looking at top goalscorer cash outs, just bet on anytime goalscorer for the matches you're interested in.

Looking far ahead to next season - some thoughts on goalkeeper strategy.

In an idle moment, I decided to compare home/away clean sheets for all teams, and to compare this against the league average.

(NB. I have a full spreadsheet I can provide on request).

    KEY STATISTICS:

    * The league-wide average for home clean sheets was 57.35%
    * The top 5 teams for total clean sheets (MUN, ARS, LEI, MCI, TOT) averaged 56.75% clean sheets
    * The bottom 5 teams for total clean sheets (NEW, NOR, AVL, BOU, SUN) averaged 67.0% home clean sheets
The remaining middle 10 teams for total clean sheets averaged 55.45% home clean sheets

    CONCLUSIONS:

    * This vindicates a "one expensive keeper" strategy, since the top 5 teams were likely to get clean sheets both home and away.
    * This also vindicates a "two cheap keepers rotating on a home/away basis" strategy, since the bottom 5 teams were more likely to get a clean sheet at home than they were away (though obviously they are likely to collect a lower total clean sheets figure)
    * However, this suggests that "two mid priced keepers rotating on a home/away basis" may prove frustrating, since they are statistically the closest group to a 50/50 home/away clean sheet split, suggesting a home fixture may not be indicative of increased clean sheet potential

This may merely prove what we have already suspected. I have always preferred to play one strong keeper regardless of fixture, and this vindicates this choice somewhat.

This may also suggest that, if rotating keepers, a rotation based on strength of upcoming fixtures (where difficult fixtures for one keeper are balanced by an easy fixture for the other) may be more fruitful than a home/away strategy.

    All thoughts welcome.

This year they lowered the cost of GKs from the heavy hitters making it easier forus to get coverage this way. If this is the same next year I cant see me starting without Cech DDG or Courtois

I think your conclusions are mistaken. 🙂

First of all, the home/away balance on clean sheets from individual teams can vary quite a bit (actually a lot) from season to season. We are talking about a small sample size of 38 events. Basing home/away rotation strategies on what has happened with one team or group of teams over one season will lead you into wrong conclusions. There's no guarantee that those tendencies will be replicated next season.

Second, the home/away balance on clean sheets over 380 games (760 events) is much more reliable. There have been close to 3 home clean sheets to 2 away clean sheets overall every season for the last 12 seasons. Over the last 3 seasons the numbers have been creeping slightly down for home clean sheets and up for away ones, but only slightly. Rotation with a leaning towards home fixtures certainly is a thing. But more for defenders than GKs actually.

The main mistake you are making with GKs is not to take saves into account. DDG may get more clean sheets than Gomes but he certainly won't be making more saves. This season DDG had 82 credited saves and scored 18 save points. Gomes made 123 saves for 30 save points. This also affects the BPS - a Gomes clean sheet was worth an additional 1.5 or so BPs last season (which is typical for a GK that plays for a lesser team). A DDG clean sheet was worth 0.5 BPs on average. It's simply because DDG isn't usually having to work so hard for the clean sheet (in terms of saves).

Take the big price difference into account and suddenly your premium GK won't look like such good value any more. Gomes' additional 12 save points and 6 extra BPs (achieved from 4 fewer clean sheets) were more than enough to compensate for the fact that United were safer on clean sheets than Watford. Gomes thus outscored DDG by 15 FPL points. It is true that DDG missed 4 games at the start of the season and would have been close to Gomes' score if he had played all 38. But he cost 1.0m more.

A GK from a resilient lower-table team is the way to go. Or a 4.5/4.0 rotation if there is a starter somewhere at 4.0 as there was this season. Yes, you still have to pick the right one(s). But that applies to the premium GKs too. Look at Courtois. 😕

    DDG

    Boateng / Alba / Dier

    Toughts on this team folks:

    Rui Patricio
    Ramos, Koscielny, Eliseu
    Alaba, Grosicki, Calhanoglu, Kroos
    Ronaldo, Muller, Giroud

    sub: Randolph, Berezutski, Olsson, Glushakov

Eliseu not nailed. Koscielny is good, but France have a shaky defensive record. Not too sure about Calhanoglu. I would downgrade Kosci, Calha and Olsson (to Lindelof) and upgrade Eliseu/Berezutski/Glushakov.

Happy with my mids/forwards so sorting my keepers and backline from my initial draft. Giaccherini has caught my eye, and Dier at 5.0m looks better value than Hart at 5.5m...

So from this lot who would you dispose of?

    Hart 5.5
    Randolph 4.5

    McAuley 5.0
    Rat 5.5
    Taylor 5.0
    Klose 4.5
    Lindelof 4.0

McAuley I fancy for a goal, but could do:

        McAuley > Dier
        Rat > Gia
        Hart > 6.0m

Randolph is my late swap if the main keeper doesn't score well as he plays near the end of the fixtures. I think Wales will be tight so Taylor looks ok to me?

Binning Klose for Denayer I think too.

    Juanfran Dragovic Glik Schar Kadlec
    Ozil Payet Perisic Fabregas Junuzovic
    Kane Giroud Muller

If Payet doesn't start, I'll probably end up doing:
Payet-->Konoplyanka and then spend the remaining 0.5 on upgrading the defence.

How do you guys reckon France will line up without Diarra? Matuidi dropping or Kanté taking Lassanas position? Deschamps said earlier that he saw Kanté as a player for the "Matuidi-role" on the midfield not as a Lassana replecement.

    Thoughts?

None of them will replace Diarra. Cabaye or Schneiderlin will, in my opinion.

I think you can afford to downgrade DDG is you are going with 2 keepers - especially as he's not 100% to start

Also, think there are better options than Dier, can see England being involved in a lot of 2-2's!
