Emerson’s attacking threat makes him an FPL option to consider

With no goals, assists, clean sheets or bonus points to his name after three Gameweeks of the 2019/20 campaign, Emerson Palmieri (£5.5m) is hardly staking a convincing claim to be in Fantasy managers’ squads going forward.

The Chelsea left-back has shown some encouraging signs in an attacking sense, however, while the Blues’ forthcoming fixture run is among the more appealing in the division.

Between now and the November international break, Frank Lampard’s side face just one of the ‘big six’: a Gameweek 6 clash with Liverpool the only cloud on the horizon.

The Blues thus sit top of our Season Ticker for ‘defence’ between Gameweeks 4 and 12, which will provide faint hope of a long-awaited first clean sheet of 2019/20 – even if Chelsea’s defence is currently doing anything but.

Only Norwich City have conceded more goals than Lampard’s troops (seven) so far, while the west London club are among seven teams yet to register a shut-out.

Clean sheets are also thin on the ground across the Premier League, though, with just three in Gameweek 3 and two in Gameweek 2.

Indeed, Everton are the only club to have kept more than one league shut-out this season.

With that in mind, perhaps we should be placing even more emphasis than we usually do on defenders who can compensate for a loss of clean sheet with a semi-regular attacking return.

Emerson’s attacking credentials will, therefore, be the primary focus of this Members’ piece.

Lessons learned from Gameweek 3

I would say KDB as Jesus will be back eventually and difference in price is significant. You could use that to improve elsewhere - significantly.

Had him for 2 weeks, saw both of his games. Avoid really. He looks so discouraged and disconnected from the team. The 3rd match was played on similar lines too.

    Robertson - Zinchenko - AMN - Soyuncu - Lundstram

        This.

Always go for the nailed on option.

    Before WC:
    Adrian (Button)
    TAA Zinchenko Boly Lundstram (diop)
    Trossard Moura Salah Sterling (dendoncker)
    Kane King (greenwood)

    After WC:
    Patricio (button)
    TAA Zinchenko Digne Emerson lundstram
    Salah Sterling Mount Cantwell Lanzini
    Haller Pukki Joielinton

    0.6 Mil ITB

Any Thoughts on the change? Had to remove a lot of deadweights.

Tried getting Kun or Kane in but I just cannot make the funds. I'm gonna have to be content with rotating players weekly and have just 2 heavy hitters on the team (3 if you count pukki)

So why was Lundstram classified as a defender? He has never played as a defender in his professional career - has always been a CAM/CM or out wide. Very strange decision from FPL Towers. Not complaining, just strange

      Shhh don't give FPL ideas.

      Yep.

He's basically a central winger for Sheffield. I'd start him this game over most bench fodder.

Wanted to stick him in as a 4.0 mid but couldn't OR laziness of researching.

What combo is more likely to score more points this week

    A) Zinchenko / KDB (C) / Stones (Greenwood if Stones benched)

    Or

    B) Greenwood / Aguero (C) / Stones (Lundstram if Stones benched)

Forgot to add Kane so its essentially

      A) Zinchenko KDB (C) Stones/Greenwood Kane

      B) Greenwood KDB Stones/Lundstram Aguero (C)

If you're banking on greenwood to replace martial, u might want to improve your bench a bit

Well for many it's either him, Dendonker or Lundstram. Lundstram away to Chelsea vs Greenwood (30-60mins) vs Saints.

Anybody else on now going with the holy trinity City attack on WC?
I'm pretty much set on it but taking into account captaincy on top of it, if it fails it's likely OR suicide!

I think you could do just as well with a couple up and covering their defence mate. Plus the extra funds you have at your disposal to distribute amongst the remainder of the squad

Yeah, think I'm looking to be talked out of it if I'm honest as I wont captain Kun over Raz either so that makes Kun very expensive doesn't it!

Zinch, Cantwell and Greenwood. Gives you some £ to move Rico to Lunds and can bank the rest
