Recapping the best Bournemouth players ahead of FPL restart

With top-flight football and Fantasy Premier League set to resume in June, we continue with our team-by-team series of refresher articles.

Using each club’s last six matches as a jumping-off point, we are focusing on which players were in favour and catching the eye before the coronavirus outbreak halted proceedings in mid-March.

A total of 15 teams will be covered in this series, with the other five Premier League sides having been studied in separate pieces looking at the ‘new manager bounce’.

You can find the relevant links at the bottom of this article.

Of course, plenty has changed since Gameweek 29 and three months will have gone by without a ball being kicked by the time we recommence. Any form, to use a tired old cliche, may simply go out of the window given the length of time the Premier League has been dormant.

Still, with there having been no managerial changes or new signings during the downtime, most sides’ set-ups – from personnel and formation to playing style – will likely be instantly recognisable when play restarts next month.

As this article uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, only subscribers can access it in full.

Thing is this season is now a bit of a lottery. Some left field things bound to happen with some random club catching fire early doors.

Yeah, definitely. The possibility (even if it's a slim one) that the season could still be curtailed after a restart - if we have a second COVID-19 wave, for instance - will surely focus the minds of the teams who are fighting for survival/Europe from the off in case a points-per-game resolution is needed.

    vFPL lineup -
    A) Sterling Grealish > Salah Neto
    B) FH this week?
Auba Vardy Jiménez Doherty Alonso and co all tempting switcheroos
(but will mean -4 to reclaim Mo next wk)
    C) something else 2FT 0ITB - cheers 🙂

    McCarthy
    TAA Laporte Webster
    Mané Sterling Sané Grealish
    Pukki Jota Deeney

    (Heaton Holgate Lundstram Basham)

Personally holding Grealish for the next two - might even go differential Zaha for those greens.

Sane is a bit of a puzzle.

FH could work. Personally I’d go Fernandes and Doherty from Sane and Laporte. Would that allow you Mo from Sterling Grealish next time for a hit?

The current intention is for the Premier League to be completed by the end of July, and the FA Cup Final to be played on 1st August.
Presumably they will also be hoping to complete the playoffs for promotion from the Championship and other lower leagues by then or soon after.
Hopefully, they will confirm the fixtures for at least the opening round of matches very soon, but they may first need to agree which will be shown on which TV stations and when, and whether any of them have to be at neutral venues.

UEFA are hoping to play the remaining rounds of the Champions League and Europa League in August.
I haven't seen anything yet about when next season might start, but I would guess some time in September.

And this is all still subject to possible change, depending on circumstances.

I don't think anybody knows until the fixtures are confirmed as being in the original order, and secondly, some team news.

I don't see the point in double Liverpool defence as once that title is sewn up there'll surely be a mass exodus of their players from FPL squads, and we'll start seeing an average starting XI squad number starting in the 30s.

Two playing keepers makes sense, I have the same two.

Also not sure about Auba's commitment levels but again it's all pie in the sky stuff for now.

I've been doing transfers while the Corona stuff has been going on and am left with this now:

    Leno
    Egan Stevens Baldock TAA
    Mane Salah Grealish Fernandes Martial
    Jimi

    Subs: Nketiah, Greenwood, Janmaat

I kept exactly 3.2 ITB so I can do Jimi to Auba in one move. Is the double gameweek a trap or do you think that transfer is worth it assuming I captain Auba also?

Be realistic. Kane and Sancho will set us back 150m as it is. Probably 100m of that will be funded by player sales. After years of underinvestment in the playin squad we’re not suddenly going to swing the other way

    Pope
    TAA / Laporte / Baldock
    Mané / Sané / Fernandes / Grealish
    Jimenez / Jota / Pukki

    Button // Ward / Hayden / Targett

    2FT this week:
    A) Mané/Baldock > Salah/Alonso
    B) Mané/Baldock > Salah/James
    C) Jota/Fernandes > Vardy/Neto

I need to get Jota out somehow, although this week isn't necessarily the best to do so. Would love Vardy as per C, but not sure if sensible.

Jota got a goal & assist vs. Man United in my friendly! (Jimenez two goals and an assist.)

    And captain choice?

James was an option in part to being at the summit of your value table!

It is worrisome seeing how involved in attacks Alonso is, though.

You're right about Mané, but I may still do it. Salah's not let me down much so far.

          James also has a better points per 90 than Alonso - 5.92 v 5.41.

I just have a feeling Alonso has been underperforming slightly and James overperforming (18% conversion rate).

I like that Alonso is more involved in attacks. But it's close, if the £1.1m is needed elsewhere go with James.
