Scoutcast Episode 363 – Everton on the radar as Kane joins the injury list

Joe and Seb are joined by Ted to look at the key issues facing Fantasy Premier League managers ahead of Gameweek 21.

This latest Scoutcast episode proved a rollercoaster for Joe, Seb and their guest Ted, from TedTalks FPL, taking place during Thursday night’s eventful clash between Tottenham and Liverpool.

With Son Heung-min (£9.8m) and Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) goals ruled out, a haul for Sadio Mane (£11.8m) and an injury, possibly for weeks, to Harry Kane (£11.3m), there was plenty for our trio to mull over.

As the only Mane owner of the three, Joe struggled to contain his excitement in particular.

But where now for the Gameweek 21 captaincy, especially as Kane had been penciled in by many FPL managers to receive the armband ahead of Spurs encounter with Brighton?

Everton’s returning assets could be the answer. Dominic Calvert Lewin (£7.6m), Lucas Digne (£6.0) and James Rodriguez (£7.7m) are among Toffees stars to return from injury ahead of a kind run of games.

Ted’s already tripled up on Carlo Ancelotti’s troops and Joe and Seb are keen to invest too.

A key factor in Ted’s bold move has been his analysis from his statistical graphs over recent matches. Armed with a quintet of graphical delights he takes the Scoutcast team through his latest thoughts on chance creation to clean sheet probability.

His charts also help him to pick a differential, following some recent successes for the show, thanks to West Ham and Manchester City’s low owned gems.

Seb has some intriguing thoughts on attacking defenders, especially with new management and tactics at Chelsea.

Meanwhile, the crew reveal their transfers and fresh captaincy thoughts ahead Gameweek 21 as well as consider the latest high-fliers on the fixture ticker.

Son has never done as well as he has this season. Not even close. And it's been him and kane in sync and on form all season.

Spurs didn't use to have mourinho coach.

Can understand a wait and see approach just looking for reasoning as to why Son is best avoided now. I paid 9m for him and he's likely to be upfront and on pens, he's also one of the best finishers in the league, if not the best. And as you just mentioned, he's in the form of his life and having a season like never before. I think 11m is a fair price for him so he's an absolute bargain, with or without Kane

No doubt he is world class and there's not many players you'd back to outscore him.

I'm not sure he'll play striker. Surely vinicius starts

Son will play as a striker. I would go for him myself if it wouldn't require me to take a hit.

Previously Spurs had Dele and Eriksen on form to feed Son. This season Spurs are heavily relying on the link-up play of Kane and Son. I don't see anyone good enough to supply Son

Agree that Kane and Son have been amazing this season with their link up but the idea that suddenly Spurs will be unable to score any goals if Kane's not there seems a bit far fetched. He'll be massive miss but they have players such as Ndombele who looks class player and can step up. Son is also on pens now

Well we have. Spurs heavily rely on Kane and Son for goals this season. Look at the goal involvement both have had for Spurs. Kane out does give Son pens but the number of pens have drastically reduced recently.

They looked devoid of any creativity in the 2nd half yesterday. Last season they had Alli, and Lo Celso to help with creativity. Will alli now come into the side? Or will he be loaned to PSG. Aurier was also a creative spark last season but he is getting less licence to attack this season

They are devoid of creativity by design. It's classic mourinho football. First stop the opposition and disrupt their tactical ideas all over the pitch, static and disciplined shape, high percentage safe passing, then from that base set up the deadly attacks when the opportunity presents itself.

It relies on kane and son being ridiculously clinical and effective. Without kane I'd expect tactical tweaks to a more expansive open game

If you have to start one of those defenders, I'd use a transfer to upgrade your defence (maybe a Digne?) And that's a difficult decision on bench - maybe bench Soucek out of those

But he might hear a rumour at said conference and then put it out for the world to see.. I.e. Kane’s not really injured he fell in love with a transvestite dwarf at half time and decided to run away with him/her. In other news Dier has been caught molesting rabbits. or something along these lines

Plot twist, Kane's trans concubine is Jack grealish and they are running away together. Son is heartbroken. He is going to molest some rabbits with Eric to clear his head

That’s true I suppose. And the transvestite dwarf may have been driving them off in to the sunset when he or she crashes in to a Ferrari in front as he or she couldn’t see over the dash board. Willy gets looped off flies in to the air and gets stuck in the exhaust pipe of a Ford mondeo causing pressure to build up and explode. This shock of it cures Kane’s speech impediment meaning he realises he no longer needs to play football to get the ladies. He feels blessed.
Gets a cab to the local organic market, which is for some reason still open at this hour, gets a bunch of carrots, pops over to Eric Diers house, gives him a hug and tells him to just be himself. Gives him the carrots and skips off in to the sunset. But the thing is. It’s 11pm, there IS NO SUNSET.....

            1. Salah xG for the past 6 matches is 1.79, with 0 actually scored.

            2. Liverpool have now lost Matip again... meaning Henderson may play centre half.

            3. West Ham xGC is 3.81 over the last 6. (admittedly it's been a soft run).

I can't see any good reason to think it will change. Liverpool are not creating a lot of chances for Salah right now.

Tripling up on City. Have Dias and Sterling. Best choice given all are rotation risks ?
    A) Foden
    B) Bilva
    C) Cancelo

Thoughts on what transfers to make? Think I'll just do Wilson > DCL...

    Martinez
    Cancelo - Stones - AWB
    Salah - Ferndandes - Grealish - Gundogan
    Wilson - Bamford - Antonio

    (Martinez - Soucek - Coufal - Holding)

    1FT & £6.0m in the bank (!)

Anyone else still alive in the cup? Have trounced my opponents with margins of 14, 30, 26 and 18 points. Pretty sure I’m going to win the entire thing

Those who are benching Soucek again do you:

    1) Hope he hauls knowing that you have big points coming in if one of your starters doesn't show.

    2) Hope he gets 6-8pts

    3) Hope he blanks meaning you only get 2pts coming in if he is needed.

Surely if benching then 12th player and hoping he hauls

Balls to it, benching Kane, Wilson - DCL and captaining him! If he blanks, it’s only as bad as most of my other recent captain picks...

        Yeah, this.

Sadly, he's gone from a 'FT to Gundogan' to a 'if Kane is out, i can't justify a -4 to remove a starting City forward (however little time he actually gets)'.

So he's stuck in my team... again.

Hope so. I thinking to sell foden to gundo to have funds for saiss to digne..

I think he’s just a bad option. He’ll surely bang from time to time but he’s taking up a City spot and wasting it.

    Forster Vardy Brewster Ferguson

    1 FT, 6.5 itb

    1. Raphinha / Soucek >> Son
    2. Vardy >> DCL
    3. Other ?

I would love to sell Bamford for a -4 but not sure anyone is actually worth a hit when I own DCL and Antonio already.

FFS may just play Soucek over him.

I'm playing Soucek over Bamford. Liverpool defence is struggling and can see him and Antonio taking advantage at set pieces

Yeah I'd play Soucek. Clearly the guy in form

My front 8, with 7mil in the bank, is:

    Bruno - Son - Soucek - Gundo - Saka
    Kane - Bamford - Wilson

    Options include:

    - Just do Kane > DCL, captain either DCL or Gundo/Cancelo
    - Do one of Soucek/Saka to Salah (c)
    - Save an FT, play Bamford and Wilson, captain City player and re-assess midweek...
