GoalScorer Challenge

November was another bumper month for GoalScorer Challenge (GSC) players, with two lucrative international rounds.

Congratulations in particular to SSouthern86, who wins the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Membership with eight goals in the month.

If you’re interested in joining in, why not sign up now? GoalScorer Challenge is a free and fun addition to the Fantasy world, so get involved. You’ll struggle to catch the leaders and win the £500 overall prize but a Scout Premium Membership is up for grabs every single month.

November GSC Summary

It was a bit of a mixed bag this month. Operation ‘Target Norwich’ faltered as they improved at the back but the international weeks provided ample opportunity for goals.

Gameweek 17

This was a poor week, with nearly half of you picking Ivan Toney (595 picks) who blanked against Norwich.

Gameweek 18

Back to the internationals, with a Harry Kane (61) hat-trick the highlight and a goal for top pick Ilkay Gündogan (104) also noteworthy.

Gameweek 19

There were loads of goals here. With team news uncertain at the deadline, only 133 gambled on Kane starting against San Marino and were richly rewarded with four goals! Bukayo Saka (268) and Emile Smith Rowe (153) scored, too.

Gameweek 20

There was nothing for Callum Wilson (240) against Southampton, resulting in a poor week for most.

Gameweek 21

Two goals each for Diogo Jota (90) and Jamie Vardy (77) but none of the other top picks scored.

Gameweek 22

Callum Wilson (346) redeemed himself with a goal against Norwich.

It’s getting trickier to pick goalscorers now. A large percentage of the leaders have selected most of the big names, and with over 30 Gameweeks remaining, this is where it all gets a bit tactical.

There are six GSC Gameweeks in December, however, so lots of opportunities for goals.

Over on Twitter, we’re trying to raise £5,000 for Shelter in the run-up to Christmas by deciding the best goal ever scored in the UEFA Champions League. If that sounds like your sort of thing, check out #BestCLGoalTournament or the @GoalscorerC page. Please donate and share if you can.

Thanks and good luck!

    Bilva or Foden?

Posted this last night in case it helps:

Bernardo v Foden per 90 data:

      Goals 0.52 v 0.39
      xG 0.30 v 0.38
      Shots 1.34 v 2.22
      On Target 0.82 v 1.31
      In the box 1.26 v 2.22
      Assists 0.07 v 0.26
      xA 0.23 v 0.37
      Attempted assists 1.56 v 1.96
      Big chance created 0.30 v 0.78
      Crosses 0.30 v 0.78

The advantage Bernardo has is that he plays 90 minutes a lot. So he has the opportunity to turn his underlying numbers into points.

This is very helpful. I think I will wait till after the midweek games to decide who to bring in. I always felt Bernardo is overperforming his stats and seems like it's quite right to say so. He's doing a little too well at the moment!

I’m looking to do A but I may keep Kane for Brighton as they have a lot of injuries now in defence.

If he blanks today against Norwich it’s curtains!

    2FTS,0.1 ITB.

Anyone considering Vardy? so tempted to drop Kane to Vardy instead of Ronaldo. The 1.5M saved is monumental. It’s literally difference for me between Raph+Mbuemo > Bowen+Bernardo or Gundo

      I have Vardy.

After Newcastle and Everton, the fixtures dry up and he faces MCI and LIV in GW19 and 20.

Ditch Vardy or Wilson to fund Bilva?

Wilson obvious choice with tough fixtures, but losing Vardy would allow me to upgrade Duffy to TAA…

The short version is that for a limited time a bug was present that gave users members access even if their payment failed - ie renewal failed, no money was received, but the system carried on like everything was ok.

That's now been corrected and unfortunately members access removed from the accounts that benefited from this, but you shouldn't have lost anything from this, you just had free access for a few months.

If you think there's been a mistake or similar you can email the support account where we're able to properly investigate your account and reactivate your membership, just send over your details and any proof you may want to include for whatever your problem is 🙂

It's a great team but you'd be looking at a huge number of bench points. For example, who would you bench this week? Gameweek 18 would be another massive headache.

I don't think you would be able to successfully predict rotations or dodge cameos to really make full use of this bench so be prepared to frustratingly bench a fair few returns - outside of that it looks great

All totally fair points and why I normally wouldn’t set my team up this way. Just seems to be I’m going 1 or 2 into my bench each week but been a bit unlucky with random injuries (gundogan last week) and spurs game getting called off.

Bench would be livramento pretty much permanently, reguilon for the next 3 and one of Toney/king

Alonso hasn't been good, at all, but he's the backup LWB and will be first choice. CHO isn't a LWB and struggled to play there yesterday, Pulisic similarly is not comfortable enough defensively to be depended on. Saul is the only one I can realistically see being able to push out Alonso, but anyone who has watched Saul play so far will be able to tell you how likely that is right now.

He'll lose minutes, more so now because of his poor performances, but unless injured he'll be first choice.

It’s a strong 12 you’ve got there. I’m just not sure if having ronaldo is worth the cash and if you get more than one player being rotated then your into sissoko/non player!

I’m thinking that two decent bench players is enough. I’m going to keep my 4.5 striker I think. I’ve got 4 premium defence plus Reguilon, and 5 playable mids. I’ll keep my cheaper mids - ESR and Gray. And I’ve one premium striker and one cheapie.

Rotation is most likely to be covered by the 2 bench spots.

Obviously a bit weak up front but you could argue who is doing anything anyhow. However the likes of Watkins, Benteke & Antonio could be worth having for the decent fixtures they have coming up

Who will win - Aston Villa or Leicester? Or draw?

If I had to guess I’d say draw 1-1 or 2-2

Broja is so good. I wonder if Hassenhuttl will just keep playing him. Much better than Armstrong imho. Too bad he didn't start vs Leicester when I got him from the bench.

He took his goal really well.

Chelsea should just sell Werner and just play Broja when they could. He is going to be a world class striker.

But seriously, his finishing skills are at a top-level, he's very fast and great on the counter, he's dribbling skills are great too, he's quite tall, so if he could also win aerial duels he would be a great all around striker. Phenomenal prospect.

That composure on his goal was A+

I just watched the full highlights and he had so many opportunities in that game. Just watch how at 5:15 he manages to turn to the goal with 3 defenders on his shoulder and almost gets the goal. Phenomenal.
