Captain Sensible

Who are the best FPL captain options for Blank Gameweek 30?

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers are faced with a much smaller pool of viable captains than usual this weekend.

Blank Gameweek 30 features just four matches and only one team currently in the Premier League’s top five.

Unsurprisingly, Harry Kane (£12.4m) has emerged as the people’s favourite ahead of Sunday’s clash against West Ham United, but Son Heung-min (£10.9m) is an alternative option in the Tottenham Hotspur ranks, while Raul Jimenez (£7.6m) faces off against the division’s worst defence at Molineux.

First, we will assess the fallout of the captain poll, before then analysing the best options, Rate My Team (RMT) and the Premier Fantasy Tools ratings ahead of Friday’s 18:30 GMT deadline.

THE CAPTAIN POLL

As you can see, Harry Kane’s lead in the Fantasy Football Scout captain poll is a hugely significant one.

After producing eight attacking returns in the last four Gameweeks, the Spurs forward has attracted the support of 59.79% of votes.

Son Heung-min, meanwhile, sits in second, having been backed by 13.8% of FPL managers.

Raul Jimenez occupies third place with 4.6%, followed by Philippe Coutinho (£7.5m) and Bukayo Saka (£6.6m) on 4.18% and 3.14% respectively.

A -12 move to field XI is basically a -6 move. I'm also getting in players I'd want for the rest of the season.

So what do you think about Sanchez, Bednarek, JWP and Adams -> Ramsdale, L. Thomas, Martinelli and Lacazette (-12)?

Gives me enough ITB to do Ramsey + Jiménez -> Havertz + Gelhardt (-4) next GW.

    Ramsdale
    Doherty - Saiss - Thomas
    Kulusevski - Maddison - Martinelli - Ramsey
    Kane - Lacazette - Jiménez

    (Foster, Salah, TAA, Cancelo)

Arsenal will have DGW in 33 and perhaps 36 too? Leicester likewise.
I'd want those Southampton players out and another keeper anyway?
This week seems like the week to do it?
A -6 (who might end up on +something) by players I'd want in anyway?

Can't really see the upsides in fielding 7 players this GW when those benched are Sanchez, Bednarek, JWP and Adams

Taking such a big hit in what will be a low scoring week isn't a great idea. Southampton are likely to also get double in the next few week and you're getting rid of their two best attacking options. And the upside is risk reduction

But if you feel its right in your gut, go with it

It's a good point, but Southampton - Arsenal & Burnley - Southampton in DG33 does not scream: 'POINTS' to me tbh.
I'd want them for GW31 against Leeds, but Arsenal has a decent fixture in Palace too.

Trent, Liverpool & England is a classic combo for an international injury, but hamstring feels a bit too serious to use

Oh well, that's a problem for next GW. If he's out for WAT I think I just sell him. I might not buy back for the rest of the season either. Robertson is doing better than him for cheaper.

i don't think it is. I have Hwang he looks to be an injury doubt plus he doesn't play full games anyway. He's only worth a -4 if you think he will get you a >4 haul. On the balance of probabilities, I'd say that is improbable.

Mount + Borja to Martinelli + Lacazette for -4 worth it?

Kinda want to keep Mount if Chelsea get a DGW 33, but can get him back someway so not too bothered.

Got no real respons last time I tried, so I'll try again.

There is an easy way - scroll to the bottom on the PL app and it will tell you what chips you've used and what you've got left. Or if you can't remember if you've used one just look back through your previous gws

      It’s just never that simple.
Barnes more in favor for mins lately but Madds has a bigger ceiling (though better when Vardy plays)

    3. Ginger Pele

I’ve got the same choice to make today, so would really welcome views on this! I’ve always felt Madders was the best option from that foxes midfield, but most of the love on this site recently seems to be for Barnes. I think they will both have their league minutes managed a bit in the coming weeks. I just feel Madders is the classier player (which doesn’t necessarily translate into fpl points, I realise).

    4. Hobo

Brentford seem a little more vulnerable through the middle which I think benefits Maddison, plus he is on some set pieces.

If for long term I wouldn't get either, Leicester are 4th or 5th bottom for xG over the last few weeks, and with Europa being priortised there is too much rotation risk even for Barnes to make it worth it for me

    a) Save transfer and go with 6 players

    b) Use final FH this week

    c) Salah and King ----> Barnes and Lacazette -4 (gives me 8 players)

    d) James and King ----> Jimenez and White -4 (gives me 8 players)

      C) Raph to Lei mid for free. He was going to become Havertz in 31
