Newcastle v Arsenal team news: Martinelli benched as White and Wilson start

Double Gameweek 37 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) continues at St James’ Park this evening, with Newcastle United hosting Arsenal at 20:00 BST.

The Gunners go into their penultimate match knowing that two victories will guarantee them Champions League football next season. After Tottenham Hotspur’s win over Burnley on Sunday, they currently lie in fifth place, two points behind their north London rivals.

Mikel Arteta makes three changes for the visitors.

Ben White has recovered from injury and replaces the suspended Rob Holding, while Nuno Tavares and Emile Smith Rowe also come in for Cedric Soares and Gabriel Martinelli.

Callum Wilson, meanwhile, makes his first start for Newcastle since December. That’s one of two changes for Eddie Howe, with Fabian Schar also back in the XI.

Kieran Trippier is a substitute, but Chris Wood is absent with a hip injury.

GAMEWEEK 37 LINE-UPS

Newcastle United XI: Dubravka, Krafth, Schar, Burn, Targett, Guimaraes, Longstaff, Joelinton, Almiron, Saint-Maximin, Wilson

Subs: Dummett, Lascelles, Ritchie, Trippier, Fernandez, Fraser, Murphy, Darlow, Gayle

Arsenal XI: Ramsdale, Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel, Tavares, Elneny, Xhaka, Saka, Odegaard, Smith Rowe, Nketiah

Have you seen Brighton play recently? They've been excellent. Seven goals conceded in their last eight matches, three of which were shipped at City. Bowen very capable of scoring against anyone but you wouldn't say there are 'easier' fixtures out there in GW38?

Did Salah + B. Davies to Son + Reece James (-4). Already had davies occupy 3rd apurs slot. Who to captain between Kane and Son? Will likely be playing 5 man defence for the first time in my fpl career. Hope it wont backfire. Defence is laporte, alonso, james, trent and sessegnon.

Son, Mount, Maddison, Kulu and Saka is my current GW38 midfield and pretty happy with that. It's figuring out the 3 in defence and 2 in attack really the issue for me.

Yeah, you want that cash on the pitch!

Vardy is a good punt, massive upside if it works, but there's always that risk on mins with him.

I think he will want to finish season with a bang.

Do I really need Son in 38?

    Pope
    TAA Robbo Cancelo James
    Salah KDB Saka Martinelli
    Eddie Watkins

    (Kasper Cash Gordon Vydra)

    A. Salah & Saka to Son & Diaz (-4)
    B. Salah & Martinelli to Son & Maddison (-4)
    C. Martinelli & Watkins to Toney & Eriksen (-4)
    D. Salah & Watkins to Son & Jesus (-4)

On this seasons form and results for both teams, Chelsea would be better off playing at Watford on Sunday.

This is exactly why Arsenal will most likely sign two full backs (Hickey and Molina) in the summer. Tierney and Tomiyasu are simply too injury prone and you can't rely on them to play full PL season, let alone featuring in all other competitions.
