The Community Round Up

Forget the age old debate of form versus fixture, the key issue in our community articles and hot topics this week was Fantasy versus real football form. Slick passers, Fantasy Premier League rule changes and intriguing differentials were also under discussion as we prepare for one of the least anticipated double Gameweeks on record. As ever, we catch up with the latest members tables and community tournaments as well as hear some welcome news about the health of a much-respected community veteran.

The Community Articles

The Puntmaster is enjoying an incredible purple patch in his mission to find the best punts each week. In the last two Gameweeks five out of six of his differentials have delivered. Dare you ignore his Gameweek 31 contenders?

There are some more punts to consider in Gameweek 31 in Matthew_1991’s excellent preview of the next set of fixtures and looking further ahead AZ has been looking at the best budget midfielders to consider for the run in.

While Sergio Aguero’s Fantasy form continues to be called into question, Ruth_NZ urges against mistaking this for a dip in real form. He argues that the Manchester City man is continuing to perform well, albeit in a position on the pitch that reduces his Fantasy points scoring potential.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

The lack of excitement for Gameweek 31’s double fixtures for QPR and Aston Villa was laid bare in our discussion on transfer plans. Doolittle, Beavis and Daniel West were among the many who responded who are set to go into Gameweek with just one player with two fixtures.

Instead there is more enthusiasm for the in-form single Gameweek options, in particularly from Manchester United, according to AA7’s discussion on the Red Devils, as well as Liverpool’s resurgent second half of the season.

On a similar theme as Ruth NZ’s community article, there was plenty of discussion on form in our hot topic on the differences between Fantasy and real football. For Ryan, playing Fantasy football enhances his enjoyment and understanding when watching matches, while for Moin, Fantasy football has made watching potentially tedious mid-table scraps worth persevering with.

When Paul Scholes was in his prime, there was no doubting his consistently good real life and Fantasy football form. The former Manchester United midfielder was among a host of slick passers as AA7 took us on a trip down memory lane to remember some of the great midfielders of all time.

As well as recalling international greats such as Socrates, this week’s international break also gave the community the chance to look at potential rule changes for FPL next season. In our discussion on the subject more points for goalkeepers was a popular call, made by Mndgms among others.

Finally, Beric popped by with another update about the progress of community veteran Doosra, who has been hospitalised with a serious illness for a number of weeks. Thankfully, Doosra is continuing to recover and there was further welcome news when Mondogoal announced it is running a special competition this weekend to raise money for Doosra’s family or a charity of their choice.

The Members Tables

Members will be more than familiar with our ICT index, which brings together player’s influence, creativity and threat statistics. JKisthe1 has been taking a closer look at the index this week to find the best performers in midfielder over the last four matches.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Leagues

Going into Gameweek 31 Grahame Fiddler had taken the outright lead in the FFS January Wildcard League, having scored 664 points in the last ten Gameweeks. He is now in the top 500 overall. Meanwhile, Aaron Thorburn still leads the Top 10k Any Season mini-league. Both these competitions are managed by community regular RedLightning.

The FFS UEFA group was also on hand for an update on their group tournament based around the Cricket World Cup.

    So.....

    Panti
    Terry Naughton Bellerin
    (C) Haz Eriksen Caz Silva
    Kun Gir Kane

    Krul, Clyne, Dawson, Ameobi

    2FT, Zero in the bank

    Considering:-
    A) Erik - Siggy
    B) Gir - Austin,

Need to do something but not convinced by the DGWs and Gir's in great form. A seems sideways.
    Thought anyone?!

Would much rather do Caz -> Siggy as Eriksen has a decent fixture in GW33 when Cazorla doesn't even have a game. Keep Gru for now IMO, I'm holding.

Is it complete madness to use one of two FTs on Clyne -> Bertrand if I'm satisfied with my team as it is?

Follow-up-question: Naughton (EVE) or Dawson (LEI) in a double up with Myhill next week? The only other alternative to switching Soton fullback is bringing in the suspended Dawson just to play him next week, then he will never be seen in my line-up again.

        Myhill / Foster
        Ivanovic / Clyne / Schlupp / Naughton / Bellerin
        Sanchez / Hazard / Silva / Eriksen / Boyd
        Agüero / Giroud / Kane

        0,1 ITB

I'm fully aware that Foster and Bellerin has to go, but their places are reserved for future DGWers, so any replacements would be short term punts really. Also cannot bring in any of my planned DGW players early given my empty bank. Don't wanna touch my front eight this week.

Any suggestions? They would be very welcome, thanks.

        1. President John F. Keninnsie
          • 10 Years

I'd rather get rid of Foster/Bellerin now than do Clyne to Bertrand tbh. Clyne can easily outscore Bertrand on any given day, there's really very little between them. If you're planning on selling Foster for a DGW GK then you could always do that now and get Panti or Schmeichel maybe. If you look at WBA's final 5 fixtures you could see they're terrible, Newcastle and Burnley are two teams with good fixtures then, so you could always sell Foster to Krul or Heaton.

Anyway, I'd prefer to take a short term punt than do a sideways defensive transfer. It'll add to the excitement and it's always fun cheering on different players.

You're probably right. Will rather do Bellerin -> Dawson than deal with Foster right now. Now mather who I would bring in Myhill will still play the next three for me. Plan is to bring in Ospina when WBA fixtures turn bad, or even Mignolet if Liv gets a DGW.

            Again, thanks for the input.

I'm the opposite. Would much rather play Schlupp than double up away at Everton. In fact I'm playing Schlupp myself with Clyne on the bench and no other Soton cover.

Leicester has conceded two goals in their last for home games, and Schlupps stats last four trumphs both Clyne and Bertie for offensive returns.

I have only a couple of rules in FPL.

          - Go for 2 cheap goal keepers
          - I have never owned Baines
          - Whatever the problem is Bentekke and Lukkaku are not the answers.

In all seriousness i am tempted to captain Giroud. Think he could easily outscore Tekke this week

No tinternet at home, some idiot cut the wires whilst tree trimming. Have come into town to do xfer and missed a price rise. grr.

Have missed posts on captains choice. Advice appreciated on my 4 options.

    A. Kane. Not keen on his away performances. Burnley no pushovers at home. Man City!
    B. Arguero. Surely he has to come good soon, but Bony puts me off making him captain.
    C. Hazard. Will Shawcross give away a penalty. Will he play the full 90 due to tiredness?
    D. Giroud. The form horse and my choice for the armband.

    Thanks.

Head says Clyne, RMT says PVA. Following my head has left me outside the top 20k so maybe RMT is worth following

On a dreadful run, can't do much right at the moment. Would really appreciate some advice.

    Myhill
    Kos, JT, Clyne
    Sanchez, Hazard, Silva, Siggy
    Austin, Aguero, Kane (C)

    Foster PvA, Hutton, Moses

Have 1ft, .6 itb, what's the priority here?

No real problems, looks good. If looking for next moves-

Moses right down to a cheapie, he wont be getting in your 11 so save some cash
Hold sanchez until 33 and then him down and Austin to Costa

Who scores more this week: Giroud v Livercirrhosis or Kun v Palace? In other words, form or fixture? Purely for this week because in buying Benteke this week and Costa next

    Good morning DZ.

    2 questions:

    1) Captain Benteke or Austin? Currently on Austin because of high onwership.
    2) Eriksen>Mata worth a hit?

    Thanks 🙂

    REPOST from few hours back:

    Current team:

    Myhill, Foster
    Ivan, Bertrand, Bellerin, PVA, Dawson
    Haz, Sanchez, Silva, Mane, Boyd
    Kane, Aguero, Giroud

1FT, a bit clueless here. What do you recommend?

Interesting facts going into the Arsenal-Liverpool game.

-Arsenal have only conceded 1 goal in their last five Premier league home games.

-Liverpool have equalled a club record of six consecutive clean sheets away from home in the league and have now gone 9 hours and 19 minutes on the road since they last conceded.

0-0 written all over this game? 😯

    Panti

    vert PVA Lescott

    hazard Eriksen Caz Silva

    Aguero Kane Giroud

    Bench: 4.0 Walters Fonte Wollscheid

    0.7 ITB 2FT

    I want to do

    A. Giroud --> Benteke (C) but not sure if i have that luxury without WC...
    B. or should i just go the safe route and of caz/vert --> ivan/siggy
    C. or the "triggerlips move" panti/4.0 --> myhill

    thanks lots for help!

Sanchez to Fellaini/Siggy or save transfer?

If you only have one FT then hold and do both transfers next GW if nothing else pops up?

I know both Fella and Siggy has a plum fix this week, but it will suck bad if you use it and then get an injury somewhere meaning you either have to stick with Austin or take a hit to bring in Costa.
