The Community Round Up

Double Gameweek fever was in full swing this week as the likes of Charlie Austin, Matty Phillips and Christian Benteke racked up huge scores to whet the appetite ahead of double Gameweek 34. Our community writers and hot topics cast our eye over the impending doubles and we also see the launch of a new regular article, which looks back at the community’s best and worst mistakes in the Gameweek gone by. In our members tables we look in-depth at Liverpool’s best attacking assets and catch up on the ups and downs in our mini-leagues in light of Benteke and Austin’s exploits.

The Community Articles

This week we introduced the first in a regular series of articles looking at the community’s tales of woe and joy during the last Gameweek. With QPR and Aston Villa’s assets running riot there were plenty of tears being shed in our inaugural Rough with the Smooth article.

What better way to reward QPR’s two-goal double Gameweek hero Charlie Austin than handing him his P45? With Chelsea and a blank fixture over the next two Gameweeks many of his owners are considering ditching the striker, with JK on hand to look over the potential replacements. Chelsea’s Loic Remy is at the front of the queue of replacements for money, according to this article by PKWrona.

Benteke’s four goals made him the standout hero of Gameweek 31. Given The Puntmaster‘s excellent recent form in unearthing differentials, it was no surprise to see the Aston Villa man in his trio of punts last week. To see his predictions for low ownership success in Gameweek 32, click here.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article. Also watch out next week when we will be asking for your vote in our search for the best community article during March.

The Hottest Topics

As well as Charlie Austin, another striker that many are looking to ditch is Sergio Aguero, who has now gone five Premier League appearances without a goal. Despite his poor tallies, Andy85 says the Manchester City man is still worth keeping.

Another striker to come under Andy85’s watchful eye is Chelsea’s Loic Remy, who, in spite of competition for places, looks to be a risk worth taking, particularly with a double Gameweek 34. Diego Costa’s injury has propelled him into many other community members’ thinking, with Ruth NZ pointing out that he could be set to miss more than the next two Premier League matches.

While dumping the hamstrung Costa is a sensible move, RuthNZ went a bit more leftfield with an earlier post during the week in which he revealed plans to ditch this year’s budget striker sensation Harry Kane. Read his justification for this bold move here.

Although, with Liverpool and Hull joining Chelsea and Leicester with a double Gameweek 34 perhaps ditching the Spurs man may not be so hard to do, as competition hots up amongst the forward positions. Daniel Sturridge is among the Liverpool players that many are considering drafting in, according to our hot topic on the best Reds trio for Gameweek 34.

The Members Tables

For those considering Liverpool options, I’ve constructed this handy table looking at their most attacking options. Sorted by shots in the box, this has a global filter.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Leagues

Spectrum won the Long and Winding Road’s prestigious FA Cup of Tea tournament this season, when he beat Mull in the final. Sticking with the Long and Winding Road , Simon Walsh has taken top spot from Greenwindmill in their main league.

Despite this disappointment Greenwindmill continues to lead the FFScout moderators and contributors league, but second placed Mark is edging closer and closed the gap to just 14 in Gameweek 31.

Ross Gillard is another surviving leader, and stays at the summit of the Top 1,000 Any Season league. Meanwhile in the Top 100 Any Season league Rohan Rees has snatched top place.

Choking Hazard hit the top score in Gameweek 31 with 100 in TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition. There are now 84 teams left after 33 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 53.

In RedLightning’s FFS January Wildcard League James 101 has taken the lead, meanwhile in his Top 10,000 Any Season league, Aaron Thorburn continues at the summit.

Meanwhile, in OFCProdigy’s Scout Picks Challenge, the Fantasy Football Scout picks continue in the lead with Mookie and Sticky Mockwell in close pursuit following Gameweek 31.

Repost to help you fine people

Let me help you select a captain:
It's between Harry Kane, Eden Hazard, Oliver Giroud.

    Last four game-weeks:
    Harry Kane
    Minutes Played - 346
    Points Per Game - 8.50
    Goal Attempts - 3.00
    Shots On Target - 2.25
Shots Inside The Box - 1.25

    Eden Hazard
    Minutes Played - 359
    Points Per Game - 8.50
    Goal Attempts - 2.250
    Shots On Target - 1.25
Shots Inside The Box - 1.50

    Oliver Giroud
    Minutes Played - 360
    Points Per Game - 9.75
    Goal Attempts - 3.50
    Shots On Target - 2.75
Shots Inside The Box - 2.50

    Opposing Defence (Last 4 game-weeks):
    Aston Villa (Kane)
    Goals Conceded - 1.60
    Goal Attempts Conceded - 11.00
Goal Attempts Conceded In The Box - 7.00
    Big Chances Conceded - 1.80

    Burnley (Giroud)
    Goals Conceded - 1.00
    Goal Attempts Conceded - 18.75
Goal Attempts Conceded In The Box - 8.75
    Big Chances Conceded - 0.75

    QPR (Hazard)
    Goals Conceded - 2.20
    Goal Attempts Conceded - 17.00
Goal Attempts Conceded In The Box - 11.80
    Big Chances Conceded - 1.80

In summary Kane (C) for me.

Your post is good but I don't see how these stats points to Kane? I think both the others come off better, and I know for a fact that if you narrow the period down to the two latest gamweeks instead of four then Hazard comes off even better.

    A)
    This week: Sinclair -> Mane
Next week: SellAustin (10.5m or less striker)

    B)
This week: Sell Austin (8.3m or less striker)
    Next week: Sinclair -> Silva

    Sanchez Silva Eriksen Hazard
    Kane Austin Aguero

subs - Foster, Puncheon, van Aanholt, Naughton

Got 2 frees but zilch in the bank 🙁 Best route to take this week?

    GW32: Jakupvoic --> Myhill
    GW33: Wisdom + Sinclair --> X + Y
    GW34: WC

    Pantilimon
    Terry | Fonte | Bertrand | PVA
    Hazard | Sanchez | Eriksen
    Aguero | Giroud | Kane

    Jakupovic | Boyd | Sinclair | Wisdom ---- 2 FT + 0.4m ITB

being someone without a wildcard i'd play it in 33 and modify at 34 rather than waz with wisdom and sinc

Really don't know what to do with two transfers?have 1.5 ITB

    Myhill Panti
    Naughton Terry Dawson Toby Duff
    Sanchez Erikson Haz Silva
    Agureo Kane Austin

Was thinking Naughton out but there is no decent options in that price?
    Or Austin > Remy?

Similar teams and I'm doing Naughton -> Schlupp. Decent fixture next week & dgwk too

Cheers do u reckon they will get a clean sheet in the double though?
And you reckon that is a better move than Austin out?

Sorry, seen as your team is so similar to mine I took it for granted you couldn't do Austin -> Remy for free but you can.

If go for that move then!

I'm not expecting much from Schlupp but he practically plays as a forward at times!

This week: Naughton -> Schlupp, save 2nd FT.

Next week: Austin & Sanchez -> Remy & Yaya, no hit.

    Gwk 34: Eriksen & Yaya -> Sterling & Henderson, 4 point hit.

It gives me Terry, Hazard, Sterling, Henderson, Schlupp & Remy for -4.

(The Yaya move in 34 is needed for funds for Austin -> Remy and I reckon Yaya is the best 1 week punt)

    How does it look?

Don't rate Yaya as a punt, especially as it means a hit the week after

What to do with this lot? 1 FT (2 at a push)

    Myhill Pantilimon
    Clichy Alderweireld Clyne (Haidara Zouma)
    Sánchez Silva Hazard Eriksen (Ireland)
    Giroud Kane Agüero
    0.3m

Clichy -> Lescott or Williams for next 2 gw?

well i'd have a long look in the mirror and ask why clichy and why then ireland
i'd then brush myself down and if i was determined to stick with kun,i would buy williams in
(personally i think kun is well past sell by-move to murray and bring in a chelski def ready for DGW and to play tomoz)

Let's play who to captain and why. Only 2 options mind. Haz or Kane

I'll go first...Kane; because he's top of RMT and the Captain's poll (by miles). Spurs are also at home.

Concerns = Tim Sherwood, Spurs are crap, Chelsea's attacking stats are better, QPR's defending stats are worse.

    Your turn

      Isn't sherwood a positive? He's very attacking...

Ps: Spurs are not poor... They had one bad game last week away, which they didn't even Lose. The game week before that thy scored 4 goals!
