The Stock Check – Gameweek 37 – Monday

After clinching the title at West Bromwich Albion on Friday, Antonio Conte makes nine changes to his Chelsea line-up for a home encounter against Watford.

Cesar Azpilicueta then emerges as the Blues’ unlikely Double Gameweek 37 hero, but Eden Hazard fails to take advantage of back-to-back starts.

On the Rise

Cesar Azpilicueta
One of only two Chelsea players to retain their starting berths from Friday’s win at West Brom, the Spaniard is currently the top-scoring player for Double Gameweek 37 on 20 points.

Azpilicueta was shifted out of the back-three and handed a right wing-back berth as Victor Moses was afforded the night off entirely, and he picked a fine time to net his first goal of the season in the 4-3 win over Watford.

With an assist and clean sheet also accrued at The Hawthorns, the versatile defender was the big winner from the Chelsea contingent – only one other team-mate, Michy Batshuayi, managed double-figures (11 points) over the Blues’ pair of fixtures.

Azpilicueta has now served up 30 points in his last three appearances and, with a home clash against Sunderland still to follow, is just seven points behind team-mate Marcos Alonso at the top of the defender standings.

Cesc Fabregas
Named among the subs against the Hornets, the Chelsea playmaker once again highlighted his ability to deliver points from limited pitch-time by emerging from the bench to fire the decisive strike.

As he’s owned by a mere 3% of FPL managers, Fabregas was largely overlooked for the Double Gameweek, yet, like Azpilicueta, he’s upped his output as the season comes to a close – it’s a goal and four assists in five now for the playmaker.

Afforded just 12 minutes off the bench last night, you’d expect him to return to the first XI against the Black Cats, with Conte perhaps now looking to protect N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic’s minutes with one eye on the FA Cup final against Arsenal at the end of the month.

In Decline

Eden Hazard
The Belgian was a surprise starter in last night’s seven-goal thriller, but he was unable to get among the points despite playing the full 90 minutes.

Backed by 304,000+ FPL managers with the armband, the 33%-owned Hazard delivered a mere five points across the Blues’ pair of fixtures as his campaign stumbles to a close.

The winger has served up just a single assist in his last four league appearances, scoring once in six top-flight outings ahead of Sunday’s clash with the Black Cats.

As the only attacker to retain his place from the Baggies win, Hazard’s minutes could be the most in question for the Sunderland match as Conte looks towards the Wembley showdown in a bid to clinch the double in his first season at the helm.

Over 12,700 have already parted company since Friday’s deadline – only Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino has earned more sales among FPL midfielders.

    Hey guys,

How does this look for GW38?

    Mignolet
    Monreal - Terry - Vertonghen
    Sanchez - Eriksen - Coutinho - Sane
    Vardy - Jesus - Sturridge

    Pickford - Carroll - Olsson - Yoshida

Since its the final gameweek why not just downgrade your bench even more so you can upgrade say Vert to Toby A or something like that?

Just do those. Surely you have 3 defenders that can cover and conte might want to play his cup final team or most of it. Def not worth a hit. I think Alonso will play

I think Alonso will play also. Looks to me like his rest was last night. He won't want to have any of his first team go 15 days without a game in the build up to a final.

So who here tonight is relying on Sanchez to be fit and banging in goals to have any chance in their ML against a despicable rival? (aren't they all).. And how pee'd off will you be on a scale of 1-10 if he doesn't make it?. At the moment I'm feeling quite calm about it, not sure how I'll feel later

Yeah same here, a rival has Azpil and Sane when I don't. Just about keeping pace so tonight I need something close to that, he also has a TC left too.. I'm 11 points adrift, he needs to go ape Sanchez

My rival also had azpi to my Alonso fabregas Costa so feared the worst last night when I seen the line-up. 52 point deficit I have San(c)hez Jesus cech cab holding de bruyne to his de bruyne tonight so hoping the bridge the gap

A goal wouldn't be bad but one and an assist at least might put me in with a shout.. Depending on how Sane gets on as well, he was a bit tasty against Leicester

I've comfortably won my mini league, but as a non capper, I really hope Sanchez doesn't play tonight given he has an EO of over 100% in the top 10k

If he doesn't play its bye bye top 10k. I have my ML in the bag unless Kane scores a double hatt, so it wouldn't be the end of the world, but I'd still be annoyed. Especially if Arsenal went on to win well, with Giroud and Ozil in the points.

54 ahead with San(c)hez v Jesus(TC)... if Alexis can match the City sensation, it should all be over...if on the other hand Sanchez gets a rest and Jesus goes crazy...it could be all to play for! I'm up against a guy who's had McAuley, Bailly for his phantom 60min CS, Rash for his dive, captained Eriksen for 38pts when he couldn't afford Kane...and AOA success Clucas with 10 pts...so I'm certainly not counting my chickens.

yeah - sure was nice to finally catch a break with McAlonso last week 🙂

to be fair to him, he had Kane and Kak captained for their 2/3 and 4 goal hauls when I owned neither so he's been spot on the money at times to give him his due. Kane was particularly annoying as I'd had him for his 2x home banker blanks, then decided that Alli/Eriksen was the way to go as Kane seemed to be playing deeper than normal..he timed his rise to form just after I got rid and rival got him in to cover me 🙁

Any other KDB owners a little worried over his gametime?

Zaba has been playing in CM a bit (albeit poorly) and looks certain to start

I'm going to hide behind the couch when Tottenham play on Thursday. Costa over Kane doesn't look good. Over the last 2 matches Kane has only outscored him by 1 points, so I can live with a blank from him. Can see a haul incoming though. Hopefully Eriksen + Alli get some points too.

Thoughts on these moves for GW38?
    1ft, 0itb

    Cabellero
    Alonso / Monreal / Yoshida
    Sanchez / Hazard / Alli / Eriksen / King
    Kane / Gabbi

    Pickford / Daniels / Holgate / Anichebe

    A) Hazard & Gabbi ➡ Sane & Jesus (-4)

    B) Hazard & Anichebe ➡ Llorente & Coutinho (-4) (AOA but not sure if Gabbi will even start in GW38)

    C) Eriksen/Alli & Gabbi ➡ Coutinho & Llorente

    Appreciate your thoughts!

Any suggestions? 1 FT 1.3 ITB.

    Cech
    Alonso Kompany Yoshida
    Sanchez Hazard Eriksen Sané King
    Kane Jesus

    (Pickford Stephens Holgate Anichebe)

    A. Defender > 5.7 max (Holgate>Bavies, or, Yoshy>Bailly)
    B. Hazard Holgate > Alli Cahill
(quite like B, classic exact change situation making me feel it's meant to be...but would be for a hit..)

    Cheers 🙂

I'm doing one of KDB or Hazard to Coutinho. Bit boring as everyone will do it be Liverpool have to win and Firmino might be out.

Wouldn't a risk be keeping him? Seems everyone else is shipping!
I don't know, the rest of my midfield is Alli, Eriksen, King & Sane, so no idea who I would bring in.
Maybe a pool mid but I despise any Pool players in FF

He might not play, he's in poor fpl form, will almost certainly get taken off early if he does play. It's worth the risk for someone like coutinho.

    Cech Caballero
    Alonso Monreal Vertonghen Smith Yoshida
    Sanchez Hazard Eriksen Sane King
    Kane Jesus Barnes

    1 FT, 0.4 itb

As everyone and his dog, I'm thinking of getting Coutinho.
Hazard totally disappointed me in this dgw, so I can easily do Hazard->Coutinho.
    Then I want Vardy.
I wouldn't really like to take Jesus out for him, but having in mind Pep likes rotating, while Jesus didn't do much vs LEI, I may do Jesus->Vardy.
    What do you think?
    Would you do anything else?

i know this is a fantasy football site... however, who thinks James will actually be a decent signing for united?

Really don't see why we need him. We have mhiki and mata who can play in those positions. If anything I feel we need another winger and potentially another LB and also a CDM and even maybe another striker!

Another number 10 feels like a bit of a luxury. If he recoups his fee in commercials then I guess it's not a bad signing. Ideally wouldn't want it as an exchange for DDG though as the cash for him could be invested better elsewhere.

I think James is overrated personally, Mata is quality but perhaps having them two in a central role behind a lone striker could work? Think Spurs style. Also allows for a switch to 5-2-2-1 / 3-4-2-1.

      De Gea
      4 at the back
      Pogba Herrera
      Mata James Martial/Mkhi
      Griezzman

Replace Mata with a quality winger and that's some team. Mata is part of the old-school and Mourinho doesn't like it.

Can't see pogba and Herrera as a lone midfield 2 at all. Not enough protection in front of the back 4

      It's a good signing tbh.
He's great at set peices something which United lacks right now.
      Mourinho doesn't rate Mata highly.
Mkhi & James can play together the positions will be much more fluid and could work out.

    4. Irish Madridista ⭐

He's a good signing as he's a great player but United need to fill other gaps first before they splash on a player like JRod

How much would we pay? Does anybody know?

He would obviously be a good addition, but as you say there are other positions that need filling first.
I think we need a solid striker who can bag more than one goal per game.
I'd trade my Rooney card for a shiny Lukaku one.

How many of the current United squad have bagged 2 goals in one game this season?
          Answer:
Ibra scored twice on three occasions.

          Comparison:
          Sanchez - 5 times 1 hat trick.
          Kane - 6 times 2 hat tricks

          Aaaand that's it!
I don't mean every game, obviously. But we need a player who can find the net, we create the chances and do nothing with them.

Yeah it's a draft league. Do a big draft at the beginning, and then can make unlimited transfers or trades in the week, on a waiver system based on league positions.
Did two leagues this year with various friends, and it definitely is more engaging. Players get points for everything, like key passes and aerial clearances. A good player score is about 30, and a bad score can be -10.
App has been developed a lot and is pretty useful now too
