Who do we think would score more out of these options over a season:

    A. Alonso, Mooy, Gross
    B. Trippier, Richarlison, Jese

It'll be very close, but irrelevant IMO. Aside from the defenders, those aren't players you'll want to keep in your team for the long haul - just whilst they're in form and then rotate out for the next lot with good form/fixtures.

There is that side to it.

I'm basically convincing myself not to get Alonso in and telling myself that the team balance is more important.

        1. Rödallegabomb ᴿᴮ
          • 11 Years
          6 years, 8 months ago

If you can fit him in with a good balance elsewhere then go for it. He's the type of player you'd leave in your squad through the rough and smooth and take the points at the end.

He's not essential and won't score twice every week. Yes, he's playing like a more attacking player classed as a midfielder so gets more points for a goal as well as clean sheets, but there will be a lot of 1-2 pointers in the mix as well a 0 pointers and potential minus factoring in sendings off.

If getting him in destroys your team elsewhere then it's best to go without. His price won't rise rapidly because he's the most expensive defender in the game and almost everyone will need to make 2 transfers to get him in, but has more pressing issues. Wildcards don't count towards NTI either, and those are the only people really getting him in right now.

WC team.. what do you think?
    --------------- Elliot -------------------
Trippier - Davies - Alonso - Cedric (prefer Yoshida but those CBs will be a mess if VVD stays)
    ------ Mkhi - Pogba - Jese -----------
    ----- Lukaku - Kane - Morata --------

Bench: 4.0 GK, TCarrol, RLC, Mbemba

I think this season Mkhi Pogba Kaku might be last seasons Ali Erisken Kane.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if Aguero got a decent haul against Bournemouth but Kane's fixtures look better generally over the next month or so. Will do it on Saturday morning I guess.

Hold fire. Aguero's been the only mainstream attacking City asset to deliver anythig and wasn't subbed at HT like Jesus was. I'd let Aguero have at least two more games as Harry has Goodison after the IB.

I know, but overall I think Kane looks sharper and has the fractionally better fixtures (including this week). I'm slightly in two minds but I have 2 FT and whilst there's always ways to spend them this looks best to me. Aguero just hasn't looked at the races yet this season (cue hat trick!)

over then next 6, I can see Kane getting 7-8 goals, making himself a great captaincy option as well. I would always struggle to captain Kun at the current time, with Pep constantly tinkering

Much as I would be reluctant to part with Kun, I think the move makes sense. Kane's next six fixtures and goal threat numbers are incredible; it's tough to make any coherent case against him.

After accidentally (intoxicatedly) ruining my team and needing to activate my wildcard Ive been going through several mid-range midfield options Jese or Richarlison to rotate with Vokes coupled with a more price player such as Antonio, Wijnaldum, Ramsey, Sterling, Son, etc and I've hit upon a solution.

        Bernardo Silva.

Pep is portrayed as an unfathomable football visionary. Dare I say; luminary... and adds to this persona by giving interviews one might expect from a person damaged by acid trips in the 70s. We might well be inclined to believe the vision that we cant understand simply because arguing against it is way harder than anyone has time for. Or perhaps he is not the visionary lauded in the press and is possessed of a hubris that fails to see the tiki-taka pass pass pass vision was really down to the La Masia teaching of the great Johan Cruyff and was enabled by Xavi, Iniesta, and Messi and really cant be recreated with Raheem Sterling and Kyle Walker. Either way we now witness Pep's quest for pass pass pass perfection and have a new player to watch; a player of his choosing in the mould of La Masia.

In the diminutive Bernardo I see the shadow of Messi. Granted he's not really been used but even a glimpse of him against Everton showed his combination of speed, balance, and control when on the ball are far in excess of anything else City possess and it may well be the time that Pep turns to his new blood to show everyone exactly what it is he is talking about when he's waving his arms about in exasperation on the touchline.

As soon as I think he's starting, he's in.

I'm not saying he's as good as Messi, just making a comparison of movement and dribbling poise which other City players don't have. But I didn't think "a poor man's Messi" was fair.

Need a little advice as I'm trying to be strong and not wildcard! haha

45 points GW1, 36 points GW2 so dire straits. My own fault for backing city attack over Utd attack from the off! :/
Shall I see how this lot do GW3 and roll my FT? Shall I take hits to bring in -form player in? Shall I just bite bullet and WC!? Personally I think it's a good side that just hasn't started scoring yet...Any advice?

        Foster/Myhill
        Valencia/Stephens/PVA (Trent AA/Lowe)
        Salah/KDB/Willian (Miliovejic/Carroll)
        Kane/Jesus/Gabbi

        Cheers 🙂

I'm only ten points better off and giving it another week - but if it goes Pete Tong again I will do a WC I feel...

Yea and I don't really want to sell Kane KDB or Jesus before those fixtures. Willian at home could be okay too. Just seems wrong to take anyone out now. Knowing my luck I'd change them all and they'd all bag! haha

You need Manutd attack! I know it was Swans and WHam but scoring 8 goals is no easy task in top flight nowadays. Atleast do Jesus-->Lukaku or Salah to Mikhi/Pogba

This was my mistake I know! Just unlucky the rest haven't performed. Typical.

I can do KDB to Pog/Mkhiki but I can't ignore that BOU fixture. If none of them perform I will make changes next week I think...I'm going to brave I think (or stupid. Time will tell)

You could remove KDB for Mhiki and replace Jesus with Aguero. As Reckless says, Man Utd attack is the one on fire and it would be prudent to have at least one of them in your team.

But as recent discussion has explored, are past events a reasonable basis for expected future points after only two games? Spurs have good fixtures also so maybe incorporate a second Spurs asset?

I'm 100% captaining Kane against Burnley. He's been my captain GW1 and GW2 so can't bring myself not to do it this week! haha

As expected Eriksen rised last night and KDB looks likely to drop before next GW.
Holding firm and keeping the faith with KDB. Hopefully delivers against Bournemouth

Debating this myself, but if a price drop is imminent this may have made my mind up for me.

Must only if you want to finish in top 10k..WIth easy next 6 no manutd attack will cost you lot in ranks...I had do KDB/Salah to Ramsey/Tadic and Firmino-->Lukaku if I were you
