Dugout Discussion – Brighton vs Newcastle

Sunday’s solitary fixture gets underway at 4pm as promoted pair Brighton and Hove Albion and Newcastle United square up at the Amex Stadium.

With many now filling their forward lines with premium frontman, we get the chance to run the rule over a trio of budget midfielders today.

The Seagulls’ Pascal Gross has played a part in all four of his side’s goals so far, serving up two goals and a pair of assists in his last two outings.

He was the second top transfer target for Gameweek 6, with over 381,000 transfers in.

For the Magpies, Matt Ritchie has bagged four assists in his previous three, while Christian Atsu’s goal and assist over his last two starts has also turned heads.

Indeed Ritchie and Atsu, along with team-mates Jamaal Lascelles and Chancel Mbemba have been subject to heavy investment over the last week, with a combined 783,000+ transfers in.

Newcastle number one Rob Elliot is the most owned player for Sunday’s clash, sitting in 23.7% of squads after conceding just once in his previous three. Yet he is the most benched player in the Gameweek, with over 808,000 naming him among their subs.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

      Save, easily!

Richarlison looks the goods and seems capable of getting points anywhere, anytime!

Alonso is a long burn prospect but will likely finish in the top 3-5 for defenders so is worth persevering with. Forget fixtures, Chelsea are capable of points at both ends of the pitch against anyone also.

2FTs coming out of the international break will be priceless.

Not nailed on. Started on bench last game, Bilic is havimg trouble fitting him and hernandez in the same team. 3-4-3 doesn't suit him, not enough width and crosses into the box

Yeah man, really down on Joselu myself. I admit to not watching him play and only got him over Tammy because of the apparent stats. In doing that, I went away from my #1 rule of not paying too much attention to stats. Transfers like these I regret forever.

      Anyway, this discussion may help:

Looking at RMT's this year makes me think teams are far from settled.
    Wing backs must have.
Heavy hitter forwards chopping and changing.
    Unsettled midfield
    Chasing value not paying off.
I have chopped and changed this year. I see ML rivals more educated than ever.

Who are going 4 at the back?
    How many Big hitter forwards?
Has your budget shrunk for Midfielders?

Planning to go with 4 at the back when I WC

Will probably go for 2 premium forwards. 3rd can eb anyone from 4.5 to 8.5 depending on budget required for other positions

Lack of options in midfield means I will probably go with 2 premium mids at best coupled with some cheapies around 6m

Going 5 at the back with a mixture of expensive and value.

Midfield is locked with three 8m+

Two heavy hitters upfront, will make difficult decisions and play blocks of fixtures, they'll all score well.

523 for me as you say, wingbacks a must have 🙂

2.5 (Chopping and changing forwards until GW11 hence the name change from G-Whizz lol)

Not really shrunk, wasn't massive in the first place, knew I wanted 2 "established" mids and started off with KDB and Redmond. WCd GW3 and swapped for Mkhitaryan and Salah, then kept the other spots for a different set of 3 x £4.5m

No got Salah and Firmino and he's not worth the extra outlay imo
Hazard, not for me, too pricey as is Sanchez. Siggy needs to show me more and Everton improve before I garner any interest and even then I'd rather have David Silva tbh...

I think Haz could come good even relating to value. The only reason for big hitters are captain values. Points per million after that. The big six teams will play each other 10 times so a big hitter cover maybe required. All points to defenders at this point in the season IMO

not sure if one can draw conclusion from that game, and Salah did have some monstrous chances before the sending off. Not sure if they score three every match but they wil score with Coutinho, salah, firmino and Mané, thats a given. Spurs does not look very tight at the back so they could very well score vs them so atm but it all boils down to what your expectations are, i guess

I shipped Bertrand, disappointed so far because were not getting attacking returns as a team. Save some cash and go Hoedt to get defensive returns and bps. For me Abraham over Bony, when they both play I expect more points from Tammy. Concerned with Trips game time and no Chelsea so Hazard for Mikhi.

    What do you reckon?

    Foster Elliot,
    Davies, Stones, Jones, Hegazi
    Ritchie, Salah, Eriksen, Mkhi, Carroll
    Wood, Jesus, Lukaka
1 FT 1.4 In the bank

    Should I...
A: Jesus for Kane then Silva for Eriksen for a -4 hit and 0.6m leftovers
B: Stones for Kolasinac FT and hope jesus comes back in
C: Jesus for Kane and Coutinho for Eriksen -4 hit and 0.1m leftovers
    E: Jesus for Aguero

How do Everton defender prospects look for the next 9 weeks? Only difficult games are Arsenal (H) and Leicester (A). I'm tempted to bring Baines in.

Jagielka and Keane flagged. Coleman Funes Mori out for sure. Difficult to say how they will perform if all four missing. Baines not that sharp and not going forward as much as used to be. Has lost set pieces / penalties? I think Baines at 5.9 is not good value.

Williams at 5.4 sounds nice though.

For example? Can't get Davies because I will have Eriksen-Alli and Kane at that point. David Luiz maybe, after this GW?

has anything changed with regards to the points system tally?
any hits taken will be tabulated after the last match played for the particular month?

Vardy has deent enough fixture to match him. You can do Luka to Aguero

Luka will face liv, hud, TOT, che after Palace game

RLC was really unlucky not to get returns in last 2 games against soton and city.

Once the palace fixtures eases he could easily be a very good 4th mid right ?

Over the course of the season he's probably a better option than Carroll at 4.5. But er... no goals yet, and benteke injured? I'd steer clear for now but will do carrol -> RLC eventually

Hi DZ, Always wanted to go big 5 at the back. Thinking of playing 4-4-2 now. Which one would you go for? Cheers!

    A. Big 5
    Elliot Foster
    Davies Jones Mendy KOLA AZPIL
    Salah Eriksen Mhki Cork RLC
    Kun Morata Hemed

    B. Balanced 4-4-2
    Elliot Foster
    Davies Jones MBEMBA CEDRIC CRESSWELL
    Salah Eriksen Mhki Cork COUTINHO/MANE*
    Kun Morata Hemed

*Going for Coutinho allows me to upgrade Creswell to Monreal

    Foster
    Yoshida - Kolasinac - Davies
    Carroll - Ritchie - Eriksen - Mkhi
    Lukaku - Firmino - Kane (c)

    Elliot - Mbemba - Lowe - RLC

Okay to save my free transfer then use 2FT and a hit or two (if needed) as a mini wildcard? Also have my WC but holding until essential to use
