FFS Cup

FFScout Cups – Results and Third Round Draws

Our two Fantasy Football Scout cup competitions are progressing at lightning pace as we look back on the events of the midweek’s second round and ahead to round three, which kicks off on Saturday.

There were mixed fortunes for some former winners of our open to all cup, with reigning champion A Manager Has No Name among those to go through to the next round. He saw off community regular Krul runnings to set himself up with a clash with What Divock?!, who, with an overall rank of 69,987, is 42,738 places higher.

Among the other champions, Wild Rover and Donnellyc also prevailed, as did Mark, who squares up to tkmlim.

Of this trio, Mark – who is ranked 542 overall – can feel the most confident, given that his opponent is placed 66,102 places behind him.

However, the same cannot be said of 42,422-ranked Wild Rover, who faces the cup’s highest placed manager pitstop1 – he sits in 123rd spot.

There is also a seismic gap in the tie involving 284,826-ranked donnellyc and his opponent Who Divock Is Origi, who is comfortably in the top 10,000 at 6,139.

Sadly, I exit at this early stage, with Not Much Klopp’s score of 70 proving too much for my 50-point tally. Gribude joins me through the door, after being defeated 56-50 by Footopia.

Joining Mark as one of our live Hall of Fame representatives to survive is Dronny Imp, aka David Meechan, who progressed past Legomane 65-59 to take on Jurgen Can Karius, who, at 931,186, is the clear underdog given David’s pedigree and current 4,767 rank.

Another elite manager to make the cut is My Pretty Pony, aka Peter Kouewenberg, who is third in our live Hall of Fame and earns a third round encounter with Prophet.

This is another favourable clash for one of our top veterans, given that Peter’s opponent is ranked 262,527 places below his 1,567 ranking.

Top Marx, whose regular community analysis of the Hall of Fame involves some enlightening conversations with Peter, also makes it through and takes on Citizen Z.

The full third round draw can be found here.

Meanwhile, in our Members cup there will be a new name on the trophy after both former winners were dispatched.

Fuzzy Dunlop was beaten 60—56 by community veteran Parm, while Trigg was sent packing by Fenghh.

Billy Ketsu had a week to forget, after losing his place at the summit of the FFScout Members league and tasting defeat in his cup draw against Doctor 101.

Sleep Talk, who was beaten in round one of the open to all cup by Mark, is having better luck in the Members Cup, where he overcame Ma3jdw. This 38,164-ranked manager will now face 52,905-placed AT in the third round.

Another eye catching tie is community regulars FrankieTheGent and Hybrid.power’s clash.

There is also the chance of a giant killing for 56,534 ranked Rickytoso, who squares up to the Members cup’s highest-ranked manager Pukka, who is placed at 78th in the world.

The full third round draw can be found here.

There is £350 in Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk vouchers up for grabs for the final top three managers in both tournaments.

Good luck to all those involved and if you would like more information on the schedule and prizes click this link.

My current strikers: Vardy and Costa
    Replace which one with KUN?

Yes, I kept Lukaku and sold Vardy. Concerned he will have limited minutes over the next three weeks!

Vardy ➡ Kun for me. Costa has Bournemouth and surely Leicester got an eye for the champion leagues game.

There's literally none I have been looking loads. Man us fixtures aren't great and suffer rotation. Man City and Liverpool have great fixtures but terrible defences. It's all lose lose, the only decent defence fit rest of season is triple spurs 🙁

It seems like besides Valencia, Spurs D, maybe Chelsea, the rest of the cheapos up in the air...not a ton of confidence in the DGW options.

    Currently on this team:

    Heaton - Jaku
    Valencia - Alonso - Vertonghen - Brunt - Olsson
    Alexis - Siggy - Alli - Lanzini - Grosicki
    Lukaku - Costa - Llorente

Thinking about WC before the weekend, and doing this team:

    Valdes - Pickford
    Valencia - Alonso - Walker - Yoshida - Barragan
    Alexis - Alli - Sané - Zaha - Traoré
    Agüero - Lukaku - Gabbiadini*

*Can play 3-5-2 in the weekend if Gabb is not ready.

Do or don´t? Any better suggestions? Save WC? Very unsure of what to do.

Costa is still having a lot of shots they just ain't going in, probably doesn't warrant the mass exodus. That said I don't have him and won't

  5. Deulofail

So it looks as if both A. Carroll and Coutinho will probably start this week. My front 7 is:

    Firmino, Coutinho, Eriksen, Siggy (Snoddy)
    Kun, Origi, Carroll

Should I do Snoddy to Alli (and bench Origi)? If I do that, I will have to take a hit next week to do Eriksen + Origi/Carroll ➡ De Roon + Kane (if Kane is fit, which he likely will be). Otherwise it would be for free.

    1. Deulofail
      • 8 Years

(For free with Snoddy to De Roon, and keeping Eriksen, but go without Alli)

      1. The Head-Ake

I'd rather do Firmino to Eriksen and play the team

        1. Deulofail
          • 8 Years
          7 years, 2 months ago

Sorry, doesn't work with my plan to get Kane. Assuming you mean Alli, I can't have both Alli and Eriksen, since I have Rose still taking up a Spurs slot, and the money works perfectly for Kane with Snoddy out to De Roon or similar (perhaps via Alli first), whilst keeping the best wingback in the game. If that makes sense

    2. WE GO FOR IT
      • 8 Years

Eriksen has just 11 points less than Alli so far and he is 0.3m cheaper, I'd save. Stoke's season is almost over and Liverpool are fighting for Top 4.

    3. Pep bites Kun
      • 7 Years

Do Kane a week later for free. Erik & Alli will be enough and Kane may not be match sharp after returning from injury.

      1. Deulofail
        • 8 Years
        7 years, 2 months ago

Good point, but I've been waiting on doing this for a while, and eager to get the advantage. I think I'll save this week and do for free next week. I still have a good team this week if they all play. No Alli, but still dangerous players

Yes that's true and I still have him in my squad, but if I didn't have Alli - I personally wouldn't hesitate.

I agree it's not an easy decision though. I think you should go with your gut on this one as I'd hate you to make a switch and then for Siggy to come good. Good luck with it!

Close call. I think Origi's performance more or less secured his starts for a few games, but it's never really secure. Better value if he plays, but Andy can do damage too. Hard to ignore a Pool forward for so cheap with their attacking verve, but then I wouldn't want to knee jerk because he outscored Carroll this week. You'll have to spend some time meditating on it.

A, nothing on Rose yet, and 2, as you say sell 33/34 for Ibra.

Hi all, WC online for a variety of reasons.

Thinking this looks good - the big call is obviously no Sanchez, who I can reconfigure the team for but, at the moment, I'm not sure, I'm liking it this way round:

    Valdes Pick
    Alonso Valencia Bavies Yoshi Holgate
    Eriksen Alli Hazard Walcott JWP
    Kaku Kun Tekkers
    0.2 itb

Only planned move is Kun -> Ibra ahead of 34, but if that's not working out / Mou is resting his United players for the UEL, I can always do something else. Kaku will go out for a DGWer eventually - and Sanchez back in can be done in a -4.

How is that looking? Madness to be going without Sanchez?

    Thanks.

it's plausible reasoning, but i just wouldn't lose Sanchez, he was so unlucky not to have a couple of assists last night.

We want goals not assists, last three gws since welllbeck has started Sanchez has only six shots with only two coming from inside the box. Not great

            Sanchez Hazard Eriksen Zaha midfield

haha that's cool, personally though i don't think you need Hazard, and i'd definitely rather have Alli than

I'm thinking I start with Haz - he's rising tonight as well, so I might as well have him locked into the team - then I can always bring Alli in later.

Ideally the slot free is for Kane to come back in for Kaku eventually up front.

yeah it's wise i guess, i'm tempted to do Costa > Ibra and Chambers > Stephens for -4, Ibra can then easily become Kane when fit. i posted it above, think it's wise?

Yeah that's sound, as long as you aren't playing Stephens in 32-3 as he has horrific fixtures. Also be worried about security of starts!

yeah he'll be getting benched for those gameweeks anyway. Stephens looks secured of starts, has played every game since VVD injury, so quite comfortable with that. Cheers man.
Your team is good to go as well by the looks of it, wish you the very best of luck man.

Yeah I know... just seem to prefer it this way round to be honest - alternative set up is a bit more.. idk... meh

        Same keepers
        Alonso Valencia Bavies STEPHENS Holgate
        Alli SANE SANCHEZ Eriksen CAPOUE
        Kun Kaku ORIGI

Stephens. Sane, Sanchez, Capoue and Origi
        v
Yoshida, Walcott, Hazard, JWP and Tekkers.

Real close and I'm definitely going to be on the wrong side of things!! Still thinking about it

He fills the roll but is nowhere near the player that Rose is. Rose latest is late April / early May but he keeps getting pushed back, mightn't be back at all.

    Save my FT?

    Valdes
    Alonso Valencia Davies
    Sanchez Alli Coutinho Siggy King
    Lukaku Aguero

    Subs: Jaku Olsson Pieters Crouch

No real good defences around lately, don't think it's the right time for Ibra, too late for Vardy imo, so only Eriksen/Hazard are tempting me but would need to sell Sanchez then, who I just bough
