FanDuel Focus – Gameweek 32

For the second time this week, we look ahead to the contests offered in our partner game FanDuel for the upcoming round of matches. As always, we’ll also propose our preferred XI to provide some guidance when piecing together your squads.

It’s the second round of the FanDuel Survivor tournament this weekend – if you entered, then be sure to check if you made it through the first knock-out stage in Gameweek 30.

FanDuel have the usual three windows in which you can enter line-ups over the Gameweek. The time frame that covers all ten fixtures from Saturday to Monday begins with Watford’s visit to White Hart Lane at 12.30pm tomorrow.

The deadline for the Saturday-only contests is 3pm, with five kick-offs in the traditional afternoon slot. It also includes Chelsea’s teatime trip to the Vitality Stadium.

Contests are also available that include the two Sunday ties and Arsenal’s encounter at Crystal Palace on Monday evening.

If you’re selecting your first FanDuel line-up this weekend then our tips below should offer some guidance. In addition, we have this handy pre-season strategy guide available to offer some insight on how to build a squad from scratch.

MY STRONGEST XI

Victor Valdes £7.3m
James Collins £6.2m
Yohan Benalouane £6.9m
Craig Cathcart £7.4m
Darron Gibson £6.2m
Chris Brunt £7.9m
Manuel Lanzini £9.2m
Dele Alli £12.2m
Son Hueng-Min £10m
Romelu Lukaku £12.5m
Sergio Aguero £14.1m

THE KEY PICKS

We’re confident of strong returns from our pick between the sticks – Middlesbrough’s Victor Valdes has collected 19+ points on eight occasions this term and could easily reach that again with Burnley rolling up to the Riverside Stadium. The Spaniard has registered 20 saves and two clean sheets to accrue a 14.8-point FanDuel average over his last six matches. Encouragingly for his chances of scooping the ten points on offer to goalkeepers for a clean sheet, only Boro (128) and Watford (131) have mustered fewer attempts away than the Clarets (137).

Veteran managers of FanDuel will be aware that defenders don’t benefit from shut-out points – it’s clearances, blocks and interceptions (CBI’s), as well as tackles, that are the key scoring actions in this position.

As a result, we return to James Collins following a score of 18.5 points midweek at the Emirates, where he made 11 CBI’s. The West Ham centre-back should provide good value again – Swansea travel to the London Stadium and are top for crosses (170) over the last six matches.

Although Leicester City have excelled of late, they face a stern test at Goodison Park. Everton have won six successive matches in front of their own fans, securing five clean sheets and scoring 22 goals in the process.
Romelu Lukaku has been the main protagonist for the Toffees during that run so we’ve opted for the Foxes Yohan Benalouane as he attempts to silence the Belgian forward. The kindly-priced centre-back should retain a spot with Wes Morgan likely to miss out again – we’re expecting him to improve on the 14.3 points he’s averaged over three outings (in which he’s registered 26 CBI’s).

For similar reasons, we’ve drafted in Watford’s Craig Cathcart with a busy afternoon incoming at White Hart Lane. Over his last six starts, the centre-back has produced a reasonable return of 37 CBI’s and 11 tackles and registered a 16.6-point average, which he should exceed against Spurs.

We needed an ‘enabler’ to help afford our pair of big-hitters up front so have pinpointed Sunderland’s Darron Gibson as a cheap option, who should at least contribute some defensive points as Manchester United visit the Stadium of Light. The budget midfielder scored 18.75 points when the other Manchester side visited recently, making six tackles, so we’re hoping for another combative display.

Southampton make the trip to West Bromwich having conceded 11 goals in their previous six on the road. It should be a tight encounter between the two mid-table outfits, which means that Chris Brunt’s dead-ball deliveries could well be a factor. The Baggies midfielder has a 21.9-point average in home starts, having tallied three goals and as many assists at the Hawthorns this season.

Swansea’s match-up with West Ham is set to be an end-to-end scrap, with a pair of porous defences having conceded 26 goals between them over their last six outings. Up steps the Hammers’ Manuel Lanzini for our line-up, then – the Argentine has notched goals in four of last five home matches to contribute a 36.6-point average over that run. The Welsh outfit have conceded the most big chances in away ties (41) of any side in the league.

We’ve doubled up on the Spurs attack as they host Watford seeking to maintain pressure on Chelsea at the summit. It’s difficult to overlook Dele Alli – he’s now netted four goals and served up three assists from nine chances created and as many shots on target over his last five matches. The midfielder’s all-round involvement and importance to Mauricio Pochettino’s side is highlighted by him picking up points from eight different actions at Swansea.

We’ve paired him with forward Son Hueng-Min, who recorded back-to-back goals with his late equaliser at the Liberty Stadium. The South Korean has provided attacking returns in the league once every 95 minutes on average – registering nine goals and six assists despite limited pitch time. Promisingly, the Hornets visit North London having conceded in their last nine away matches.

While Romelu Lukaku continues to struggle away, the league’s top scorer is an irresistible selection at home. He’s found the net in his last six matches at Goodison, scoring ten goals in total. Opponents Leicester have struggled away from the King Power Stadium this season, keeping a single clean sheet in 14 matches and yielding eight goals in their last four road trips.

Sergio Aguero is back to being a consistent menace, with four goals and an assist over his last six outings contributing to a 24.6-point FanDuel average. A home tie with Hull makes going without the Argentine a potentially foolhardy decision – the Tigers have a woeful away record, leaking the most away goals (35) in the league, including nine over their last three road trips.

THIS WEEK’S CONTESTS

The largest pot this weekend is again the Fan Favourite, which has £2,500 in prize money – it’s in the full ten-fixture window and is £5 per entry. The top 120 placed line-ups will collect winnings, with £500 for first spot.

There’s also a double-up game in this window, with £,1000 available. It’s a £10 buy-in and the top 50 players win.

On Saturday, there’s a £3 buy-in contest which has £500 up for grabs, with £100 being paid to the winner and 43 of the potential 197 entries making returns.

The Sunday/Monday window has a £777 game with a £7 entry fee – first prize is £140, while the top 29 line-ups also take a share of the winnings.

If you’re involved in the Survivor contest then remember to enter a team into the second round.

Mauricio Pochettino is hopeful Harry Kane will play some part of Tottenham’s match against Watford at White Hart Lane on Saturday, live on Sky Sports 1 HD from 11.30am.

Kane has been out since suffering an ankle injury in the 6-0 FA Cup victory over Millwall in March.

“Today he was involved with the team. We’ll see tomorrow if he will start the game or start on the bench.

“But the good news is that he is ready and feels good.

“I think it’s very good news first of all for him and he’s an important player for us and him being available again to help the team is fantastic for us.

“I need to decide tomorrow if he is starting the game or on the bench, but he’s good to be involved tomorrow in the squad.

“It’s important to have all the squad ready to compete and fight for the rest of the season.”

Hello guys. Save FT this week with this lot?

    Foster
    Yoshida, Alonso, Brunt
    Sigurdsson, Sanchez, Hazard, Alli
    Lukaku, Aguero, Llorente

subs: Heaton --- Holgate, Robertson, Clayton --- 1 FT, 0.2 ITB

Would you bring in Ibra for Lukaku for free this today, will not have a chance to if he rises?

    Heaton | Pickford
    Alonso | Vaelncia | Yoshida | Amat | Smith
    Sanchez | Alli | King | Sigurdson | Fletcher
    Origi | Lukaku | Aguero

Still have WC was planning on using it maybe before next DGW

I decided to make Vardy > Origi as I think the former may be rested for UCL and my Liv cover, Cou may not play so Origi will replace him in my team plus he will give me funds for Ibra in DGW.

And I'm tempted to make one of that moves:

    a) Cou > Hazard -4
    b) Costa > Kun (c) -4
    c) Cou, Costa > Pedro, Kun (c) -8

Thoughts on the Kane news and the impact on your plans?

For me, it's changed my thinking on a few things. I don't think he'll figure this weekend but the doubt and his likely return for GW33 has meant Son now leaves for Alli. Alli's stock also dented a little as he'll be off pens - not so certain on the GW32 captaincy now.

As for Kane - he's surely got to be in our plans. Aguero to Kane rather than Aguero to Ibra - even with the DGW - is now a consideration.

Aguero to Kane next week is the plan, Ibra doesn't really excite me, even with his double gameweek.
Toying on whether to get Eriksen this week or a spurs defender (already have alli)

I'll go for Eriksen over Alli with Kane in the team, as I believe Kane playing will mean less goals for Alli and more assists for Eriksen. Both great options though.

I agree. Consider Kane across 33, 34, 35 he has the potential to outscore Ibra by a large amount. Even in 34 alone he has the potential to outscore him.

Alli is still a great option, he's alongside Kane and was scoring with him on the field and will want to keep scoring

I am considering the wildcard this week and will get him in if I pull the trigger on it. I really think he'll go straight in the team and even if he only gets 20 minutes I'll want him in now.

If not wildcarding this week, then its next and then ill defo get him in.

      Alonso B.Davies Yoshida Friend Holgate
Sanch Haz Siggy T.Carrol & Jack Fodwell or 4.3
      Aguero Ibra Kane

Aguero to Jesus later in season will help with cash flow, good move?

Mark, my Spurs mate has been posting encouraging tweets for the last couple of weeks. With having Erik and Alli already in place, it was the sole reason I didn't get Davies in, although it was very tempting.

Surely you keep Davies until you get Kane, and roll the transfer that you would need to sell Davies? I guess the only issue with that is that you are forced to trade in a def as part of the Kane move. At least we might have a clearer view of the best Boro defender by then.

Is it so bad to both get Alli this week (for me, it would be the compliment, Eriksen), and then do a minus 4 to sell one of (y)our 3 Spurs to get Kane next week? It is sub-optimal from a transfer view, yet if they score as we expect, then it works out. It's clearly an aggressive play.

Why not hold Son? Among the goals himself and could well be again on Sat.. you need to lose a Spurs asset to get Kane but you're losing one and bringing in another

I see. Can the use of the 2FTs involve Davies to get Kane this week? Losing Davies this week does seem wrong though, as he does seem very good value for a CS, and not much else cheaper gives the same potential.

I'm in a similar boat to that, but have Alli, Eriksen, Davies. Will roll an FT this week and do Davies + Aguero > ? + Kane next week. Defender in might be Valencia / Bailly / PVA / Boro. Any advice on which def to get in? Already have Alonso / McAuley / Bertrand 🙂

I was going to do Vardy to Ibra...but will also wait now and maybe use my transfer on my defence.

Vardy to Kane GWK 33 now very much on the cards.

I am keen on getting Kane in but since I own Alderweireld, Eriksen and Alli I will have to sell one. The plan at the moment is to do Alli/Eriksen to Sané or similar, and Vardy/Lukaku to Kane next week.

Not going for Kane this week, but definitely looking at him for next week - current front 3 is Aguero, Ibra, Lukaku.

Well I thought I knew what I was doing, but I'm not so sure now. Need your help please guys:

      De Gea/Jakupovic
      Walker/Holgate/Alonso/Stephens/Mawson
      Siggy/Alli/Eriksen/King/Sanchez
      Ibrahimovic/Lukaku/Barnes

1FT, £0.2 in bank, WC played (my team was in a bad way)

So I'm thinking I need to get Kane in, he punished me the last 2 weeks he was fit for not having him.

I need to bin a Spurs asset. So the question is, do you think Eriksen/Alli/Kane is too much going forward?

Thought at the minute is wait until after this GW's deadline has passed giving me 2 free transfers and get

      Lukaku out for Kane
Walker out for a cheap DGW defender.

      Thoughts?

Never bring a player straight back in after significant time out with an injury.

Happy to stick with Eriksen, Alli & a defender until wildcard & Tottenham's double gameweek.

Last night i made the ultimate sin, I transferred Kane in early due to price rise and deciding to play aggressive after dropping thousands of places. Transferring Sterling out didnt help my mood either.

Yeah, I think so. I was hovering on Siggy > Eriksen, but this would leave me with 3 Spurs and no option to bring Kane in. Other players, like Sanchez, Alonso, Kun and Lukaku, all need a little bit longer before jumping ship.

Ah, Costa's tricky. Ibra, Kun, Vardy all better options this GW, but only if you already own. I'd be tempted to hold for Kane.

Playing in a 3 player draft league and coming 2nd with the following team

    Cech | Pickford
    Alderweireld | Alonso | Baines | Yoshida | Maguire
    King | Sane | Ward-Prowse | Eriksen | Coutinho
    Llorente | Ibra | Aguero

Had been planning to do Llorente -> Gabbiadini this week but with the news about Kane back to training & Coutinho a doubt for the weekend it has me looking into a few different options, thoughts?

    A) Llorente -> Gabbi as bench fodder to have ahead of his 2 DGWs | 0.7 ITB
    B) Llorente + Coutinho -> Kane + De Roon | -4 0.1 ITB
    C) Llorente + Coutinho + Baines -> Kane + Barragan + 5.7 (Albrighton with 0.8 ITB)
    D) Hold the FT and decide between Gabbi & Kane next week on further news but risk a rival draft player getting one or both

If I go with Kane once Jesus is back I'll drop Aguero for Gabbi or someone else freeing up some funds for the DGWs to upgrade De Roon again
