Total autosub points is not a good measure of jamminess, since most autosub points are not jammy.
      Consider the following four cases:
      1. A squad contains 12 strong players. The 12th of these will sometimes play as first sub, in order to cover for any of the other eleven who might be unexpectedly dropped or injured. And at other times he might be rotated into the starting eleven when he has a more favourable fixture. This isn't jammy, it's good planning.
      2. Goalkeeper A is not expected to play, but if he does then he is expected to score more than Goalkeeper B because he has an easier fixture. In this case, our RMT Tool recommends starting Goalkeeper A and placing Goalkeeper B on the bench.
      3. A manager knows that one of his players is definitely not going to play, but puts him in his starting eleven anyway, knowing that he will definitely be autosubbed by a stronger player that he has placed as first sub. This is known as benchwankery.
      4. A cheap bench fodder player spends all season as second or third sub, and very rarely comes off the bench, but on the only occasions that he does, he happens to make his only decent scores of the season. This is the only one of these cases that is truly jammy.
And besides good luck as in that last case, there can also be bad luck when one or more of your bench players unexpectedly outscore some of your starting eleven but stay on the bench and are not autosubbed on.

My autosub points = skill, everyone else's autosub points = jam.

Obviously it is a style of play to either have a proper playing bench or just bench fodder who get 0 minutes, but bench jam is generally due to having no control over which of your players suddenly doesn't play and also guessing the right order of your bench as well as that order being done in a way in which your benched player gets points the same week that your starting 11 player doesn't feature.

You can argue that "well I purposely put a good player first on my bench" but it takes more than that to get points from your first bench player when your starter doesn't start.

Two FPL players could go the season with 3 strong bench players and yet only one of them could finish the same with a high number of bench points.

It's the same 'jam' aka luck that covers pretty much the entirety of FPL. I can name you two separate 'good' starting 11 players for next week but one of them will outscore the other. There is no way to know for certain which will definitely score more until it has happened and so there is luck depending on which 11 you choose to go with.

Of course, there is no guarantee that a strong first sub won't still blank, or that he'll be autosubbed in when he does score well, but he should increase your chances of getting good autosub points when required.
I think it's a case of increasing your luck rather than of being jammy.

'I think it's a case of increasing your luck rather than of being jammy.'

            They aren't mutually exclusive though.

Again with the example of two players can choose what most people would agree to be a "good starting 11" but one of those teams will score more. They've both attempted and succeeded at increasing their potential to score well, but to actually end up with the points at the end requires the 'jam'.

There can be various reasons for only needing a small number of autosubs.
These might include delaying transfers till after the pressers, taking hits to remove likely non-starters, avoiding players that are not nailed on, being lucky in that very few of your starting eleven get unexpectedly dropped or injured, and of course avoiding benchwankery (or, as some call it, benchwizardry).

Auto subs, the dumbest thing in fpl.

It goes to show you aren’t in full control of your team if you can’t make subs yourself. Then why are you the manager? Pick 15 players & let the system manage 4 for you.

It makes other fantasy football games much better in this aspect.

None. Set up stall with double Utd defence plus Rash instead and happy with that. 6 consecutive clean sheets at Old Trafford and 2 home games still to play.

Maybe Rash to Bruno if you have the funds but otherwise I'm okay sticking with that midfield 5 for dgw37

Obviously gotta wait and see on Marcus. I think Dalot to Shaw is worthwhile to be able to bench Trippier.

Think you gotta keep Grealish and Ederson - Chelsea is a good fixture and if they get a second game it's a bonus.

Could you downgrade Jota to afford Marcus to Bruno as well as an option?

Technically I think I’m up two points. Just got to hope Estupinan gets a blank on Thursday.

Estupinan (who has a game left) for Shaw - 9
        Rashford for Odergard +2
Grealish for Mac Allister +3 with a game to play
Kane for Isak -2 with a game to play
Watkins for Wilson +8 with a game to play

Also brought in Gross, but made him my first sub cause I expected Odergard to go off. I never even thought about getting Gundogan. 😐

All this talk this week of Brighton defence being poor straight after that freak Everton result. And longer term the talk has been about which 2 Brighton midfielders we should all have.

I have had steel, estupinan and macallister since gameweek 27 wildcard and I swear that has been the best combo.

One key factor there was NOT listening to the content makers and wildcarding in gw26. That was vital as I would have picked sanchez 8n goal

You are amazing. I never benched Estupinan because I thought Brighton defence was poor, I just thought that they would concede in both games, away against two of the best at sides in the league.

I also went with WC, not because of any content creators - don’t follow any - but because I thought it was the best plan. Until today’s disaster, I went from 175k to 105k.

Fair enough. Your call. Who did you play in defence this week?

This wasn't reallg meant to be a dig at those who benched him this week. Im just happy to have got such a fantastic run of points out of Jason steele and estupinan this last couple of months when the focus seemed to be all about getting their midfielders in, which I thought was a tricky thing to do with so many good options in midfield from elsewhere.

    Grealish --> Gundogan?
Rashford (if not fit) --> BrunoF?

I know... do I risk it though that's the question! Currently sat around 500k, I wanted top 250k this year which is looking unachievable sadly. Managed to get to 300k after the WCup though so there's hope for next season I guess !!

How do you expect anyone to answer that? If he played for any of the 19 other managers, it's a difficult call. But he plays for El Balde Fraudiola so who knows what goes through his head.

My wild guess is 75 vs Chelsea as City take the title and then 60 Vs Brighton

      160?

He seems to be starting every game, been getting subbed a little recently.

Will probably play the full 90 for the Chelsea game (could win the title at home), can see him wanting to stat pad in the second game tbh

    DDG
    Shaw Estupinan Stones
    Rashford Mac10 Mitoma Salah Grealish
    Haaland Isak

    Raya Wilson Trippier Henry

I think Stones and Grealish are a bit of an issue. I don't think either of them will get two games but what Man city player will!!
Anyone tempted by Grealish to Gündogan?

I would. Is it going to be the best time to have played the chip? Maybe not.

Is it the best time and best player left if you still have the chip? Probably (unless you fancy a brave pick)

If Toney and Rashford both out you're a bit short at the back and playing that "solid" Newcastle defence instead. As long as one is confirmed fit, it's a good move

I would not take a hit for Martial as I don't think he gives you the assured DGW minutes the hit wants. If Rashford fit it could also backfire. Finally, benching Wilson is crazy

I'm probably doing Raya to DDG. Latter has two home games where he should get clean sheets and Bournemouth isn't a tough match. He plays as many games as Kepa and I really don't rate Raya's chance of returns if Kepa remains in bench, or worse shares minutes with Mendy

Currently I own Isak and Wilson. Should I bench 1 and sell the other to Alvarez, or play 1 of the New strikers.

I can only play 1 of the 3 and I can decide which Newcastle striker to keep for the final few games!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've only read about his performances, but sounds like Alvarez isn't doing anything, plus doubt he starts vs Chelsea. Really don't see why you'd invest. Newcastle face a terrible Leicester who may need a win so attacking returns likely. I'd play both....

Playing both means benching a doubler like a brighton player or TAA/Salah. Can definitely only be 1 of the New strikers. Maybe the one who does best midweek?!

Ok, so the answer is play 1 and bench 1 and spend your transfers elsewhere. Which 1 is impossible until after Thursday and after whatever Eddie says before the next deadline. But don't switch to Alvarez
