I was surprised just how high scoring the game was in general but I guess that’s a lot to do with Haaland and Salah doing well

79 points, so good week and into the top 500k. Thinking of rolling the FT?

    Areola
    Tsimikas, Burn, Cash
    Saka, Son, Salah, Gordon. Diaby
    (H)aaland, Watkins

    Turner, Archer, Taylor, Lamptey

    TIA

    How are we doing everyone?

Finding it so hard to make proper gains this season, even when relative differentials (Darwin this week, Gordon last, Doucoure a few weeks ago) come off… shows how important captaincy is among other things - can’t remember the last one I got right.

Anyway, think I’ll need a defensive transfer this week. Depending whether Udogie is fit or not, what do you reckon here?

    A) Udogie to Tsimikas for free
    B) Burn / Schar to Tsimikas for free

Would ideally save FT GW12 if no injuries. Palace defenders were on the radar but looks like they’re struggling atm

    1FT 0.1ITB
    Areola
    Cash Schar Udogie
    Salah Son Mitoma Gordon
    Haaland Darwin Watkins

    Turner Doucoure Burn Kabore

    Cheers!

And I might start Doucoure over Gordon given how leaky Brighton have been

Definitely agree on this, especially after what Everton did at Brighton at the end of last season. Although this is the first time in a bit that they have a free midweek for recovery but they still have injury issues

G2G? Taking a -4 of Kabore + Hojlund > tsimikas + Nketiah. Will afford me Martinelli > Saka next week x

    Leno
    Tsimikas Cash Taylor
    Salah Martinelli Maddison Son
    Haaland Darwin Nketiah

    Areola Palmer Branthwaite Udogie

It could work out but I would say there’s no guarantee Nketiah keeps his place, even after a hat-trick, as Arteta has played Trossard / Martinelli down the middle / as false nines

      1. Ask Yourself
        • 7 Years

Wow didn’t expect such a negative reaction to these moves. I don’t think arteta will play anyone else there with Jesus out for a few weeks and after a performance like that from Nketiah personally

This s what all the content creators was going also saying. Probably more likely in any game in their opinion in Trossard/Havertz opinion. I was going to do Pedro to Nketiah for a hit, and bottled it, after i thought, i'd double-check what the consensus was. Play your own game Crunchie. He will play against Burnley, but a one week punt by then, is what will happen now.

That chance has gone. Just like Trippier (until GW16)

Really don't rate Neketiah as an option. Prefer maybe White in as an option. Wouldn't be rushing to dit h Martinelli either, he's a proper differential

I like white but think tsimi matches him over the next few if he keeps his place. Also would mean having to get archer/Semenyo instead of Nketiah as a rotating option with palmer but I prefer the Nketiah route personally.
I will give Martinelli another game but I don’t think he’s good enough considering I can afford Saka now

          I mean Kabore to Tsmikias.

Nketiah move is fine imo but the defender transfer has a low chance of paying back the hit.

Kabore been poop had him since GW5. Tsimikas is automatic points atm with a decent run of fixtures with Robertson out until late jan

There is almost 99% chance that Tsimikas scores 4+ more than Kabore next week, never mind over the next 2-3 games.

Hmmm wasn't planning on it but tempted to do this move for free instead of rolling. Using 2FTs on defenders in one week could be seen as being wasteful but having rotation options did me well earlier this season and means I won't have to play Gabriel

    Current team 1ft zero itb

    Areola
    Cash Gabriel Tsimikas (Taylor Lamptey)
    Salah Saka Son Bowen (Chuk)
    Watkins Haaland Alvarez

    a) Watkins & Bowen > Darwin and Maddison (have exact funds so risk of being priced out)
    b) Bowen & Alvarez > Diaby & Darwin (not overly keen on the Watkins/Diaby double up with this approach)
    c) Roll the FT

Personally I think if you've gotten rid you should just stick with your decision for a few weeks at least. I'm sure most that sold did so knowing he could have games like this at some point in the run you got rid of him for, but surely you have to stick with the changes made elsewhere in your side to give it time to work?

    Morning all.

    1ft 1m itb
    Areola
    Andersen Digne Gabriel
    Salah Saka Son Maddison Diaby
    Haaland Alvarez
    (Turner Branthwaite Kabore Osula)

Ended up having an OK week despite my horrendous Alvarez captain punt. Did Udogie to Branthwaite on Saturday to avoid a price drop that still hasn't happened and to have money itb for Diaby to either Bowen or to a 4.5m and do Osula to Nunez for a hit but guess that looks silly now. Thought Diaby has looked superb all season but felt like he was one that just didn't return, maybe it's finally turning now. Not sure if anything else is needed right now?

Don't think the Darwin move is "silly" but was watching Liverpool so I'm yet to catch up on the Villa game. Pool are looking absolutely rampant & I prefer their fixtures by some margin. Think the fixtures are already starting to turn for Villa (not expecting the same kind of hauls v nfo/FUL/tot) & I can definitely see further double digiters coming up for Darwin

I agree fully on Liverpool. What do you think of Alvarez to Darwin this week, potentially with Kabore to Tsimikas for -4 (to play over Gabriel)?

Liverpool look really good atm. I agree with Mentaculus

Darwin > Alverez for me to, but i have to sell Haaland for two GWs (Spurs/Villa), unless i do Pedro to 4.5 but they have Sheff Utd GW13, will he play etc). I stupidly did Gusto to Tsimkas last night, and should have done Porro. (first early move this season)

I may have to wait for my team, even sell Haaland for two Gws or do Pedro to 4.5 or Diaby to Eze if back and do Alverez to Darwin GW14/15,

I was very close instead of Alvarez to Nunez or Pedro to Nketiah to a -4 and end up doing neither.

Man City and Liverpool will both beat Bournemouth and Luton easily i think, but with Nunez potential rest in GW13, i can only do Darwin for a two week pint, now.

last week was the week i guess (For my own personal team). I think for your too especially with Maddison up to GW13.

I guess it could be close this week but yeah I would back Darwin over Alvarez over the next 5 or so. Maybe even leave him out til after City's BGW so you don't need to go too deep into your bench. Not so sure about the hit for Tsimikas tbh - would firstly check on his cup mins to minimise the risk of pre-60min subbing. Was slightly surprised that he remained on some corners after his poor crossing v EVE & don't think I see all that much attacking upside there. Plus Gabriel & Branthwaite might not be as bad options as they seem this week. Got to catch up on the Brighton game too (damn scheduling!) but they look some way off their best at the moment and I do not like the sound of Mitoma at LWB at all

Cheers mate. I don't think a clean sheet for Arsenal v Newcastle is impossible, they had two good performances against them last season where Newcastle didn't threaten much and they have injury issues at the moment, it's more that I'm not too convinced by Arsenal of late

Is there anywhere which gives a breakdown of the BPS system for players in a match?

Just want to know why Darwin only managed to get 29 BPS for a goal and an assist. Did he miss some big chances as I didn't see any on highlights?

You can see it here if you have membership, not sure about other sites. In Darwin's case he missed 3 big chances, had couple shots off target, have been tackled 4 times and commited 2 fouls. His +BPS was 40, -11 so there's your 29 BPS.

Son is matching Haaland for points. Unless you want to make a fuss about one point and with Son being a mid, he can outscore Haaland. Son also has four double digit hauls this season.

I guess it comes down to who else you are letting go of to bring Haaland back.

Thanks. I can't guage Chelsea, as defence is their best assit atm and Mbuemo score another 90+ minute goal, assisted by Saurez. Boy the FPL gods are with him at the moment.

Man City V Liverpool i do see goals.

Spurs defence, are good when they are able to counter atack once they take the lead. Until that point, they always look shacky to me.

          Villa away is qute tight.

I do want Darwin for GW14/15 so i will have to cut my cloth in midfield to Eze if he returns (just sold him lol), but Olise/Eze are back Gw11 or 12, but will only pick them when both are back. (Zaha hardly play under Roy . Two full 90 mins and a 60 and 30 due to hamstrings, in the final 10 games against"easier opposition, which is what we have), we will be a different team by then.

Or i forget Darwin and go Mbeumo. I haven't had him all year due to his Jammyness, but is it really? He scores pens and wakes up in the 90th minute, or is just fitter than the opposition.

Yeah I'm also finding it a little difficult to pin down what I think of Chelsea. Perhaps solid enough until forced to chase games? Sanchez looks a bit of a liability though.

The Spurs & Liverpool games will be really interesting as I'm not sure the gulf between them & City is quite so big at the moment. I have triple ups on both (can bench Porro/TAA though) so let's see how that goes...

Nice what moves did you do in the end.

I was MAddison to Saka, Eze to Adringa (and very close toPedro to Nketiah, or Alverez to Watkins for a -4), Darwin wasnt really on, but Nketiah really was, so i took a 2 hour list to the content creators, and it was all about rotation risk with Havertz /Troosard, so i thought, fair enough. Honest to God if i didn't do that, I would have done it, for a 3 week punt (subbed this week)

Kabore, Martinelli, Haaland - TAA, Salah (C), Osula.

Unfortunate hokey cokey with Martinelli since I only brought him in the week before but basically had been moving away from a structure that could accommodate both Haaland & Salah so had to reverse that, plus the Jesus injury felt like I'd be suffering through another dry patch with him. Have exact funds for Diaby - Saka though which I think gives me a really nice attack. Might make that move next week to give:
            Raya Areola
            TAA Trippier Porro Digne Lamptey
            Salah Son Maddison Saka Gordon
            Watkins Darwin Osula

              Nice, really nice.

Is it a simple Salah to Haaland Watkins to Alvarez downgrade GW16? or a trippier TAA (trippier looks so good GW16 onwards)

Yeah basically I decided to just go with one of Salah/Haaland at a time, mainly due to the value in all these semi-premiums who I dont like giving up (Son, Maddison, Saka, Darwin, Watkins), and since their fixtures dovetail neatly. Maybe when Salah returns from AFCON I might have the TV to work with both. But at the moment, especially with the Neto injury & its likely impact on Hwang, I'm glad that I'm not forced into needing 2 picks in that budget mid range or sacrificing Trippier (who I benched this week but still want)

Trent is just for a few weeks as I still don't think he's great value long-term but I do fancy a couple of massive hauls coming up with the set piece weaknesses of his opponents, and now that Pool are looking reasonably solid with Konate back

Yeah i agree. I think Szoboszlai is so good, he does Trent things just as well as Trent, and Trent will still get his chance. They are taking points of each other.

I am thinking Szoboszlai in the AFCON run

      Last Thurs and Friday presser:
Eddie Howe: “Sven is improving, he’s out on the grass. He’s not training with us yet. We’re hopeful we can get him back pretty quickly but we have to be careful with the injury he’s got.”

Lots of people debating how Alvarez can cover Haaland over this “difficult” fixture run, but I think yesterday was proof of how he’s just not as effective in big games. We saw the same against Arsenal too.

With Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs back-to-back and De Bruyne possibly back for Xmas, is Alvarez still an “essential” pick when the likes of Nunez, Wilson, Ferguson have potential to outscore him?

Will have to see how things go. I punted on captaincy with him yesterday but at least I still had all the other big hitters. Thing is he's still incredible value, the only other one out of those that I prefer is Nunez as I can't see the others maintaining fitness or regular starts. I also don't think any of those fixtures are to be feared for attackers personally. Liverpool keeping clean sheets to 10 man Everton and then a Forest side with Elanga at CF isn't much to go on, Spurs are still giving up chances but have faced toothless sides in the last two, Chelsea clearly have their weaknesses. But true enough, he's only had one double digit haul all season so it's definitely worth considering

      1. x.jim.x
        • 9 Years
        7 months, 9 days ago

Oh yeah, there's goals in them thar fixtures (like there was yesterday) but a lot of the attacks came down the wings with Alvarez’s only shot coming from a free kick.

I don’t think City will struggle, but Alvarez may if he’s assigned a secondary role again.

Can't deny I'm not considering moving him to Nunez this week, I was nearly taking a hit for him before Forest but decided to be safe but it's very tempting, problem is if he might get benched after the IB (again) v City

The same thing he does every single game, just without any service. He actually had the highest xA of City, which is criminal with Foden, Alvarez and Silva behind him. Shows how important Rodri is to their game.

He had poor xA against arsenal. They both had almost identical xGI vs Arsenal. Whilst I agree, Alvarez does not cover Haaland, it should have been something noted prior to yesterday instead of basing it off of the Utd game

I sold Darwin this week and kept Alvarez. Obviously down on that points wise currently but my thinking was that Darwin’s minutes aren’t the best and can never be sure he starts.

Alvarez also takes corners and free kicks. He’s a better player than Nunez too. I don’t think Liverpool and Spurs at home are bad fixtures at all for Man City and Alvarez. He will be a nice differential during that period

      1. x.jim.x

Alvarez is a better player, but Nunez has got more xG and xA (as well as identical G+A) despite having played half the minutes.

No way can alvarez cover haaland but my problem is

Don't want Darwin as not assured of his minutes. There's always the will he start when team sheets released
      Same for Ferguson
      Cant afford Wilson
      Nketiah too short term
& don't realy like anyone else as got Watkins & haaland

As bought Alvarez for 6.7 I'm happy with his output I've had since got him. If he does go off boil I would rather have a mid at similar/lower price

I managed to miss the deadline on Friday after spending the whole week thinking about what to do with my two free transfers. Just had a look at the screenshots of the potential moves I was going to make. I don’t think there’s one that would have got me more points than what I did get. They all involved hits and they all involved getting rid of Son and Diaby and getting in Watkins. Actually scored 81 points. Only thing I do regret is not at least doing Botman to Tsimikas.

It’s a funny old game right enough.

i did that two years ago, when i accidentally left the captaincy on Jiminez. got 9 points, the second highest player of a low scoring week. I forgot to swap GK's this week but didnt matter, but sometimes i concentrated on the transfer until the last minute, and checked my team, and sometimes missed something stupid.

The worst for me was last season GW15 when the servers crashed with Haaland news.

I notice my FH had been played. I never touched it, even though my transfer did somehow go through.

I had thought about being hack, but FPL Towers admitted a few teams had made mistakes, but would not give the chip back, even though they admitted it was a mistake their end.

But then the FA Cup fixtures were so kind, i got waya with perhaps the most important chip, outside of the WC.

Won my mini league by 4 points with no FH. If the FA Cup like Spurs beating Middlesboro etc, there is no way i could have done that. Luckily as it was GW15 and there are some good players, i thought about quitting for the season, but after the EC i had 2 FT and went again lol

    Areola
    Andersen / Tsimikas / Cash
    Salah / Saka / Maddison / Diaby / Bowen
    Haaland / Alvarez
    Bench - Leno / Saliba / Archer / Botman

Tempted to roll the FT but also giving thoughts to downgrading Bowen slightly to get the extra I need to move Saka to Son.

yes he had before yesterdays game 8 assist with a 0.8 XGA if that really means anything.

I was praying for a Diaby swing, and got very lucky.

Watkins didn't do much against Palace when it is more of a low block. West hame and Brighton certainly didn't do that.

think i'd rather roll and play Burn vs any of these options, and reasses with 2 FT - This is 7th attacker so may look to free up some cash and go for Mitoma/Mbeumo next week

Can't believe I went from 2.4m GW rank to 8.9m GW rank. 52 points is 8.9m GW rank! Just seems crazy. Gabriel done me, and Odegaard and Udogie I guess. Had one sub.

Thought I was in for decent week! Gone from 1.6m to 4.3m in three weeks!

      Don't stress it.

Loads of weeks left to play and a handful of points are still leading to big rank jumps (or falls)

      Just gotta keep on trucking!

If I'd have done what I planned, Rashford>Salah(c) and Haaland>Watkins I'd have been 6 more points down lol. Just got Watkins in for Rashford in the end. Jinxed him straight away!

Even though my transfers have been good longer term. Everyone blanked except Alvarez, and Diaby, Porro and Saka this week. Even Salah got his 1 pointer when i got him back 🙂

Its so swingy still. Took a -8 so wasn't really expecting a green this week but was actually on a very healthy green til Haaland played then ended on a tiny (2%) red. Think my OR swung around by over 1m just within this this one GW

Why are people mentioning Spurs in this? They give up 13+ shots a game. Man City will beat them. Liverpool and Villa defences aren’t great too.

It’s Man City. Best team in the world right now, people forget that.

With a tough away fixture to Newcastle and no guarantee of starting, would it be sensible to start Taylor at home to Palace this week?

Depends if Eze and Olise are back, both training on the grass last week (Roy isnt going to say that, and wont take the risk against spurs, but they may be back GW11 or 12. Olise is slightly ahead of Eze

Is there anyone thinking of doing the Haaland GW12-15 (or 14 as Villa is nice away from home for a MArtinelli/Bowen/ Watkins/Darwin short term punts.

None of the fixtures are ideal because of GW13 with Villa away to Spurs, Darwin rested (probably), Jesus injured effecting Marinelli, and Bowen, could go hot and cold.

With EZe or Olise back GW11/12 (together for the good mini 5 fixture run), could downgrade a midfielder instead,

My team just for context is

0.0 ITB 0FT (did Tsimakas last night, but didn't rise anyway)

    Johnstone (Turner)
    Cash, Tsimikas, Porro (Saliba, Kabore)
    Salah, Son, Saka, Diaby, Adringa
    Pedro Alvarez Haaland (C).

Depending on Newcastle team news, may play 4-4-2 this week, but 12-15 selling Haaland allows those players, mentioned above

Pedro down to 4.5, and Alvarez to Darwin for two GWs 14/15 is a possibility (injuries permitting)

Been taking 3 -4 over last 4 GWs not to WC. Trying to save it for GW16, if i took Haaland out (but still may not need it), and GW19, to see who is off to AFCON.

Are the benefits gained from saving a WC sufficient to be taking hits ? Long term may work out detrimental

it was -12 over 4 games weeks so -3 a week.

I am 400k, so not doing too bad, not great either.

Injuries aside i don't need any more hits until GW19.

My WC will have a bench on it too if it is GW16, which is not on GW10 WC's in general.

The bigger downside is team value. but it is 101.8. OK, I kept Eze until he was 61 and still have Pedro as the 5th striker

The only template player i haven't owned is Watkins, which benefit GW8 wild carder and not 10.

We will see, all my transfers in have blanked when i bought him in, (as stupid as that sounds), it was the reason i didnt wildcard because of Watkins FOMO. Only 4 transfers in didn't blank when ni bought then , even Salah one pointer 🙂

Bit stumped as to what to do this week, any advice appreciated. Neto injury has put a spanner in the works. Have 2ft and 0.3 in the bank.

    A Gabriel to Tsimikas
B Neto, Lamptey to cheap mid up to £5.4m and Tsimikas
C Trippier to Tsimikas (allows Neto and Alvarez to Saka and a 6.5m forward in GW12, but means playing Gabriel and no bench in GW11)
D Just Neto out for midfielder up to £6m

    Areola
    Gabriel Trippier Cash Taylor
    Salah Son Bowen
    Haaland Alvarez Watkins

    Turner Neto Lamptey Anderson

If Neto is out for any sort of extended period, B.

Lamptey to Tsim is a very decent upgrade and don't hold injured players if you can avoid it.

I dont think Trippier is worth it until GW16 when the fixture swings again in their favour. Watch out for Palace news this week, as i mentioned above, could be a bargain if Olise and Eze both return (i would leave them if only one returns), Mitoma, Adringa, Guehi all good cheap options. Tsimaks is a problem GW13. I think Gabriel plays against Newcastle (just Saliba is obviously no1 over him)

So C but have a play around on a planner

WC in GW 13, team seems set!

    Areola ¦ Pickford
    VvD Cash Guehi
    Salah Son Mitoma Diaby
    Haaland Alvarez Edouard
    ¦ White Boly Nakamba

    1.0 ITB

What would you change in this setup?

No one, but i wouldn't wildcard in GW13. Son is a potential captain Cash, and Guehi good until GW16. so is Diaby. That looks like a GW16 WC to me.
