The Community Round Up

Double Gameweek fever was in full swing this week as the likes of Charlie Austin, Matty Phillips and Christian Benteke racked up huge scores to whet the appetite ahead of double Gameweek 34. Our community writers and hot topics cast our eye over the impending doubles and we also see the launch of a new regular article, which looks back at the community’s best and worst mistakes in the Gameweek gone by. In our members tables we look in-depth at Liverpool’s best attacking assets and catch up on the ups and downs in our mini-leagues in light of Benteke and Austin’s exploits.

The Community Articles

This week we introduced the first in a regular series of articles looking at the community’s tales of woe and joy during the last Gameweek. With QPR and Aston Villa’s assets running riot there were plenty of tears being shed in our inaugural Rough with the Smooth article.

What better way to reward QPR’s two-goal double Gameweek hero Charlie Austin than handing him his P45? With Chelsea and a blank fixture over the next two Gameweeks many of his owners are considering ditching the striker, with JK on hand to look over the potential replacements. Chelsea’s Loic Remy is at the front of the queue of replacements for money, according to this article by PKWrona.

Benteke’s four goals made him the standout hero of Gameweek 31. Given The Puntmaster‘s excellent recent form in unearthing differentials, it was no surprise to see the Aston Villa man in his trio of punts last week. To see his predictions for low ownership success in Gameweek 32, click here.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article. Also watch out next week when we will be asking for your vote in our search for the best community article during March.

The Hottest Topics

As well as Charlie Austin, another striker that many are looking to ditch is Sergio Aguero, who has now gone five Premier League appearances without a goal. Despite his poor tallies, Andy85 says the Manchester City man is still worth keeping.

Another striker to come under Andy85’s watchful eye is Chelsea’s Loic Remy, who, in spite of competition for places, looks to be a risk worth taking, particularly with a double Gameweek 34. Diego Costa’s injury has propelled him into many other community members’ thinking, with Ruth NZ pointing out that he could be set to miss more than the next two Premier League matches.

While dumping the hamstrung Costa is a sensible move, RuthNZ went a bit more leftfield with an earlier post during the week in which he revealed plans to ditch this year’s budget striker sensation Harry Kane. Read his justification for this bold move here.

Although, with Liverpool and Hull joining Chelsea and Leicester with a double Gameweek 34 perhaps ditching the Spurs man may not be so hard to do, as competition hots up amongst the forward positions. Daniel Sturridge is among the Liverpool players that many are considering drafting in, according to our hot topic on the best Reds trio for Gameweek 34.

The Members Tables

For those considering Liverpool options, I’ve constructed this handy table looking at their most attacking options. Sorted by shots in the box, this has a global filter.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Leagues

Spectrum won the Long and Winding Road’s prestigious FA Cup of Tea tournament this season, when he beat Mull in the final. Sticking with the Long and Winding Road , Simon Walsh has taken top spot from Greenwindmill in their main league.

Despite this disappointment Greenwindmill continues to lead the FFScout moderators and contributors league, but second placed Mark is edging closer and closed the gap to just 14 in Gameweek 31.

Ross Gillard is another surviving leader, and stays at the summit of the Top 1,000 Any Season league. Meanwhile in the Top 100 Any Season league Rohan Rees has snatched top place.

Choking Hazard hit the top score in Gameweek 31 with 100 in TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition. There are now 84 teams left after 33 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 53.

In RedLightning’s FFS January Wildcard League James 101 has taken the lead, meanwhile in his Top 10,000 Any Season league, Aaron Thorburn continues at the summit.

Meanwhile, in OFCProdigy’s Scout Picks Challenge, the Fantasy Football Scout picks continue in the lead with Mookie and Sticky Mockwell in close pursuit following Gameweek 31.

    Which looks better?

    A. Naughton -> Schlupp

    B. Naughton -> Duff

    A. gives me a decent player for next week when pickings are slim & also an extra dgwk player.

    B. Is not ideal but it does mean I can do Austin -> Remy in 1 transfer next week which I can't currently afford.

Fancy Chelsea to bag more goals against Qpr than Aresnal at Burnley. Also enables me to save 2ft for DGW.

Just think what's the point in missing this GW against QPR if everyone ends up bringing him in next GW against Utd which will be harder game?

        1. Guidinho
          • 13 Years
          9 years, 2 months ago

Well my personal thought is there is some security in carrying the transfer. An injury, suspension etc might leave you short of fielding an 11 which is a cardinal sin imo. Also as there is some uncertainty about the Remy/Drogs situation so delaying gives you valuable information. This week it could be a coin toss between Remy/giroud who scores more but having two transfers next week will probably be worth it.

Well getting to Wood Lane road from Fulham Broadway would probably take you about 30 minutes depending on your transport. Doing it Sunday morning means you may be squeezing in. Maybe better doing it Saturday

I've actually booked tickets for the Chelsea stadium tour at the earliest possible timing. I'm giving myself 1 hour to travel from Stamford Bridge to Upton Park. More than enough? I'm planning to reach there at 1pm and give myself 2 hours to. Feel the atmosphere?

            1. Guidinho
              • 13 Years
              9 years, 2 months ago

The Hammers is always a good atmosphere, worth getting there early as they are vocal and passionate. One hour is not enough in my opinion, according to TFL its a 50min journey at the best of times but during match day there are always delays, problems with fans, over crowding etc. And as mentioned the district line is pony. Then you got a 10min walk up Green Street which is hardly the most glamorous experience!

I'm going alone so I'm not too sure I want to walk all the way from a far away station. The last thing I want to do is to get lost. Does anyone know how long a stadium tour takes? I want to leave at 12. Does that give me enough time for the West Ham game at 3? How long do I actually need?

                1. Guidinho
                  • 13 Years
                  9 years, 2 months ago

Stamford Bridge tour opens at 9.30 apparently so there is ample time.

You cant get lost on match day, come out the station, turn right and follow the masses. As for Stamford Bridge you could fart there and smell it in Fulham Broadway station!

Stadium tour in my opinion will not be much more than an hour. I've done a few in my time and honestly SB is quite old and more limited in terms of what you will see.

Oh man. I thought Stamford Bridge would be awesome. Maybe Emirates would have been better. Sigh. Bad choice. I got the earliest one tmr! So I hope to spend about 1 hour 30 mins there? I would love to. See the dressing room.

Dont call it an epl game to start with! Find out which trophy your team won in the 70s and pretend it was the reason you chose them...

Assuming you will be in London so get ready for chaos on the Tube. Get there early, find a good pub before and go there after to save your sanity

I actually did support West Ham during Dean Ashton time! Really love that era though they got relegated soon after! Hammers Xi after all eh.

Is 1 hour 30 mins more than enough? I'm heading there from Stamford Bridge. Literally a jam packed football day there,

Getting the District line to Upton Park is an absolute boot from Fulham Broadway. So Slow and will be jammed.

Also would not go about mentioning your tour of Stamford Bridge at Upton Park....not like the two teams get on well!

I would not mention it! I know the rivalry! I'm a West Ham fan after all but a once in a lifetime experience coming to UK I had to visit one other stadium! Is there any quicker way you suggest? It is stated to take about 50 mins.. I'm kinda new about the tube system.

On match day you have to grin and bear it. In terms of route its the most direct just chronically slow. The trains will be overcrowded too so expect delays with days not shutting, people running on last minute etc. The TFL says 50mins but I would err on the side of caution. From leaving the stadium to your actual seat I would say 1.5-2 hours. Even if you get there a early you get the show with the bubbles all over the stadium so I'm sure that would be worth it

Wow that is long... Now I'm scared I will reach there late. Is there any quicker solution by jumping lines? I really want to enjoy the atmosphere... Sigh. I'm not v sure about where I'm seating also. Just got my. Tickets today. Thanks man for all your help! Really a newbie now.

Wouldn't worry too much about not knowing where you're sitting right now.

Do some Googling about the seats/ground. There will also be people there to guide you I'm sure

Thanks man. I'm totally new to watching a live game. In Singapore, the stadiums are so small there's only on entry. EPL is so different. I'm just afraid if I arrive late. Idw to miss a moment.

Getting on the District in West London means you will get a seat so thats fine, its just notorious for being the slowest line! It is also something like 25 stops! You might also have to change at Earls Court...and you have to wait for the train all the way to Barking... 2 hours is sufficient. If you get there early grab a pint somewhere.

You will be fine finding your seat, just ask any stewards or fans and they will be more than happy to help. But just get ready..its really not a pretty walk to the stadium (not dangerous...just ugly!)

Good luck and enjoy. If you want a proper stadium tour you really should go to the Emirates 😉

Emirates is much nearer to my hotel but I couldn't find the timings on Saturday. Kinda dumb... And I thought Chelsea would be cooler. Sigh bad choices. I just went today to collect tickets so I do know the route! I understand what you mean!

Yeah I heard about it being the slowest line. 2 hours is sufficient? That's really good to know. I really don't want to miss a. Min.. Getting abit scared. Erm I don't think I'm of age to get a pint. Not my thing anyways! Thanks so much for the advice. Really. Appreciate it!

Three hours is fine. Two to be on the safe side but i reckon 1.45 from leaving the stadium to your seat

    Hazard - Silva - Sanchez
    Kun - Kane - Giroud

    Foster - Mane - Boyd - Naughton.

I cant wait for Aguero to score a goal and all the Aguero owners to come out of hiding and say "Patience pays / I knew he would score / I'm glad I held on to him" 😀

After falling from 4k to 11k, I could probably do with some advice.

    Foster - Myhill
    Kos - Bertrand - Cresswell - O'Shea - Dawson
    Hazard - Mata - Silva - Eriksen - Moses
    Aguero - Kane - Sakho

2 FTs, 2.9m in the bank.

Kos - too expensive, has a blank after this week
Cresswell - taking up too much money too but has STK this week at least
Eriksen - hasn't been performing (2 assists in last 8) but still has decent fixtures
Aguero - not worth his value at all right now, not sure what to do
Sakho - not great either but like Cresswell he has STK this week

Despite all this, I think I'll do Kos to Terry and save the other FT? Sound?

      Here's some advice

      Update the damn spreadsheet 😉

Kos to Terry looks good for me

Sakho is at the top of Jonty's goals imminent table. Give him one more week then ship when he has City away

    A - Save
