The Community Round Up

Double Gameweek fever was in full swing this week as the likes of Charlie Austin, Matty Phillips and Christian Benteke racked up huge scores to whet the appetite ahead of double Gameweek 34. Our community writers and hot topics cast our eye over the impending doubles and we also see the launch of a new regular article, which looks back at the community’s best and worst mistakes in the Gameweek gone by. In our members tables we look in-depth at Liverpool’s best attacking assets and catch up on the ups and downs in our mini-leagues in light of Benteke and Austin’s exploits.

The Community Articles

This week we introduced the first in a regular series of articles looking at the community’s tales of woe and joy during the last Gameweek. With QPR and Aston Villa’s assets running riot there were plenty of tears being shed in our inaugural Rough with the Smooth article.

What better way to reward QPR’s two-goal double Gameweek hero Charlie Austin than handing him his P45? With Chelsea and a blank fixture over the next two Gameweeks many of his owners are considering ditching the striker, with JK on hand to look over the potential replacements. Chelsea’s Loic Remy is at the front of the queue of replacements for money, according to this article by PKWrona.

Benteke’s four goals made him the standout hero of Gameweek 31. Given The Puntmaster‘s excellent recent form in unearthing differentials, it was no surprise to see the Aston Villa man in his trio of punts last week. To see his predictions for low ownership success in Gameweek 32, click here.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article. Also watch out next week when we will be asking for your vote in our search for the best community article during March.

The Hottest Topics

As well as Charlie Austin, another striker that many are looking to ditch is Sergio Aguero, who has now gone five Premier League appearances without a goal. Despite his poor tallies, Andy85 says the Manchester City man is still worth keeping.

Another striker to come under Andy85’s watchful eye is Chelsea’s Loic Remy, who, in spite of competition for places, looks to be a risk worth taking, particularly with a double Gameweek 34. Diego Costa’s injury has propelled him into many other community members’ thinking, with Ruth NZ pointing out that he could be set to miss more than the next two Premier League matches.

While dumping the hamstrung Costa is a sensible move, RuthNZ went a bit more leftfield with an earlier post during the week in which he revealed plans to ditch this year’s budget striker sensation Harry Kane. Read his justification for this bold move here.

Although, with Liverpool and Hull joining Chelsea and Leicester with a double Gameweek 34 perhaps ditching the Spurs man may not be so hard to do, as competition hots up amongst the forward positions. Daniel Sturridge is among the Liverpool players that many are considering drafting in, according to our hot topic on the best Reds trio for Gameweek 34.

The Members Tables

For those considering Liverpool options, I’ve constructed this handy table looking at their most attacking options. Sorted by shots in the box, this has a global filter.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Leagues

Spectrum won the Long and Winding Road’s prestigious FA Cup of Tea tournament this season, when he beat Mull in the final. Sticking with the Long and Winding Road , Simon Walsh has taken top spot from Greenwindmill in their main league.

Despite this disappointment Greenwindmill continues to lead the FFScout moderators and contributors league, but second placed Mark is edging closer and closed the gap to just 14 in Gameweek 31.

Ross Gillard is another surviving leader, and stays at the summit of the Top 1,000 Any Season league. Meanwhile in the Top 100 Any Season league Rohan Rees has snatched top place.

Choking Hazard hit the top score in Gameweek 31 with 100 in TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition. There are now 84 teams left after 33 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 53.

In RedLightning’s FFS January Wildcard League James 101 has taken the lead, meanwhile in his Top 10,000 Any Season league, Aaron Thorburn continues at the summit.

Meanwhile, in OFCProdigy’s Scout Picks Challenge, the Fantasy Football Scout picks continue in the lead with Mookie and Sticky Mockwell in close pursuit following Gameweek 31.

Why no love for Sakho as the liverpool defenderfor DGW 34? He is nailed and is a baps magnet. He is also much cheaper than Skrtel.

Skrtel is definitely worth the extra. If you're trying to save money, try Mignolet.

Looks like you beat me to it, as I asked the same question below!

I'm leaning towards playing PVA, as Villa look to be picking up as an attacking force and Spurs do not keep many cleanses. Whereas Sunderland under the new manager look a but more resilient.

Please help folks, have a 100pt gap to bridge to my ML rival. How can I catch him??

    Me:
    Pants, Foster
    Terry, Koscielny, Alderweireld, Lescott, Wasilewski
    *Hazard, *Silva, *Sanchez, *Mane, Walters
    *Kane, *Austin, Aguero

    Him:
    De Gea, Given
    Ivanovic, Clyne, Moreno, Cresswell, Wisdom
    *Hazard, *Silva, *Sanchez, *Mane, Sinclair
    *Kane, *Austin, Defoe

Need to risk some differentials and/or trying to maximise the DGWs. Any suggestions? I'm struggling

Having got Remy this week I can't help recalling the Welbeck hysteria under similar circumstances earlier in the season...."An Arsenal striker for 7.1"....That didn't work out too well.

    1. Ludo
      • 10 Years
      9 years, 2 months ago

      I can see definite parallels.

      1. Dr Dream
        • 11 Years

The only difference is that he has the DGW, which makes not having him a bit dangerous. Arsenal, City, Liverpool and United go for goals instead of taking their foot off the gas after two goals...well at least when they get the chance.

        1. Ludo
          • 10 Years
          9 years, 2 months ago

I suppose you could argue that Welbeck's more of a team player, whilst Remy is a fairly old fashioned sort of poacher.

          1. Dr Dream
            • 11 Years
            9 years, 2 months ago

Welbeck is a very good team player...in fact a very good player full stop. Somehow he seems to have tied himself up for confidence at club level whilst looking the beans at international level....very odd...

    2. Kurtinho
      • 9 Years
      9 years, 2 months ago

Welbeck has never been prolific in the Premier League. He's always had the potential to be, and I personally thought his Arsenal transfer may have unlocked the potential at the time. However, Remy is a proven goalscorer. It's nothing to do with his price for me.

    3. GreennRed
      • 12 Years
      9 years, 2 months ago

Welbeck's not a quality striker for Arsenal though.

Remy i.has always been a decent striker.

Guys could someone please have a quick review of my plan and see if im on the right track or way off?

    My current team is
    Pantilimon Krul
    Terry Dawson Bellerín Wollscheid Clyne
    Hazard Eriksen Mané Silva Sinclair
    Kane Austin Aguero

I have 2 FTS and im considering taking a hit to transfer Aguero, Sinclair and Eriksen to Mata, Sturidge and Ramsey.

Then the following week I will take another hit to get Aguero back.

    The WC for gw34.

Would you agree with this plan or should I reconsider?

      I don't get why you'd take 2 hits before a WC.

Yeah when you put it like that it does seem a little pointless. Id take a one week punt on Sturridge but maybe just transfer Eriksen to Mata and not bother getting Ramsey.

Alot of cash on a forward you're wary of captaining now.

Excellent option for 33 & 36, no doubt, particularly 36. City may have given up the ghost tho.

ah but now they're "in danger" of falling out top 4 so they still have to fight for something..no CL would be DEVASTATING to the club as they don't generate a whole lot internally in order to deal with FFP

Starting to look that way but getting top four is a must. So would hope the players can put some decent performances together and scrape over the line.

Yeah he was but its been like that for a few weeks now. Hard to know what will happen, he could have a great haul on Sunday or be a complete flop again (fantasy football wise i mean). As a City fan im hoping selling him from my FF team will turn his form around haha

Silva and Aguero are your only shot at any points this weekend IMO and I still think it won't be enough..buuuut it's a derby and form goes out the window for them

True Silva and Aguero are key to getting a result on Sunday. The rest of the team are just shocking at the moment. But if there is any fixture that can wake up the team then its the derby.

I just hope United doesn't get a red card with 45 min to go..that would be refreshing..

I see from your team you are a United fan yourself. Feeling confident? In fairness United have been playing very well in recent matches. Certainly on better form than City. Hopefully it will be a good match without any red cards or dodgey decisions.

I'm feeling confident based on our form and yours, but with a derby form doesn't matter..I just hope it's a good game in the end..

it's also looking promising because RVP is out so we don't have to deal with the "will he/won't he" of LVG starting RVP despite us having a good thing going..

City were very unlucky to not get anything from Palace, deserved at least a point if not the full 3

Yeah anything can happen in a derby will be interesting.

He would be mad to change it now even if RVP is back. Best form of the season so changing anything now unless forced to would be madness.

Yeah that was disappointing. Didnt play bad and had a few chances but just wouldnt go in. It would have been great both as a city fan and an Aguero captainer if Agueros shot that hit the post had actually gone in haha.
