International Minutes Assessed – Part Two

After rolling out Part One of our assessment of the recent internationals, we now examine the pitch time and distance travelled by those players who ply their trade for the remaining ten teams.

NEWCASTLE

With Tim Krul already a long-term absentee, Rafael Benitez was dealt a cruel blow following the season-ending knee injury suffered by Rob Elliot whilst playing for Republic of Ireland against Slovakia on Tuesday night. Chancel Mbemba and Henri Saivet will need to be assessed following long flights back to Tyneside.

Rob Elliot – Republic of Ireland (25/03 (h) v Switzerland in Dublin and 29/03 (h) v Slovakia in Dublin) – Unused substitute against Switzerland, but started against Slovakia. Suffered a serious knee injury during the first-half on Tuesday night, and has been ruled out for at least six months.

NORWICH

None of the Norwich players face long flights back, with Dieumerci Mbokani not featuring for DR Congo after being at Zaventem Airport in Brussels during the terror attacks. Alex Neil shouldn’t have too many issues as he prepares his side for the crunch home clash against fellow strugglers Newcastle on Saturday.

Martin Olsson – Sweden (24/03 (a) v Turkey in Antalya and 29/03 (h) v Czech Republic in Solna) – Was an unused substitute against Turkey, but played the full match against Czech Republic, registering an assist in the 1-1 draw.

Cedric Soares and Jose Fonte – Portugal (25/03 (h) v Bulgaria in Leiria and 29/03 (h) v Belgium in Leiria) – Both players were unused substitutes against Bulgaria, but played the full 90 minutes in the 2-1 win over Belgium.

Graziano Pelle – Italy (24/03 (h) v Spain in Udine and 29/03 (a) v Germany in Munich) – Only played 60 minutes against Spain.

STOKE

Mark Hughes was dealt a huge blow when Jack Butland was ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a fractured ankle during England’s friendly in Germany. SUNDERLAND

Only DeAndre Yedlin played 180 minutes over the international break among the Black Cats’ squad, so the right-back will need to be assessed when he returns, with Sunderland facing a crucial home fixture against West Brom on Saturday.

Jordan Pickford – England U21 (26/03 (a) v Switzerland in Thun) – 90 minutes.

Odion Ighalo chalked up 180 minutes for Nigeria over the international break, and with their second match taking place on Tuesday, the striker will need to be assessed when he returns to the club. Juan Carlos Paredes also played late on Tuesday night, and may only arrive back at some point today.

WEST BROM

Salomon Rondon wasn’t available for Venezuela’s second match due to suspension and flew back to the midlands early as a result. That should increase the chances the striker starts against Sunderland on Saturday, while Gareth McAuley, Jonny Evans and James Chester all played their second matches on Monday night, giving them some extra recovery time.

Gareth McAuley and Jonny Evans – Northern Ireland (24/03 (a) v Wales in Cardiff and 28/03 (h) v Slovenia in Belfast) – McAuley played the full 90 minutes and Cardiff, before playing just the first-half against Slovenia. WEST HAM

Slaven Bilic will be delighted with the form Dimitri Payet showed on the international duty, while he’ll also be pleased he only played 27 minutes on Tuesday night, meaning he should be pretty fresh for the home encounter against Crystal Palace. Enner Valencia did play both matches for Ecuador though, and will need to be assessed on his return to the club.

I gotta say, the new site is really growing on me..it's far cleaner now..I just think it needs some space-management tweaks (like thinning borders and adding content into white-space)

On mobile, is the +1/etc system also in the works to be added back in with the timestamps?

    PERSONALITIES OF FPL MANAGERS

I'm thinking of writing an article on the personality traits of FPL in relation to Myers Briggs classifications. Would that be of interest?

I'm a psych major who works in market research and my opinion on the validity of Myers-Briggs is:
          http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view7/4680037/doctor-cox-eh-o.gif

Your classification can shift based on mood and current standing, it's not set. I don't give it much credence.

I can see why you would feel that way. I think it is a good way to start thinking about personalities if you are starting from zero knowledge of it. Reading the description for my classification has helped me understand myself, or how I interact with other people, better.

Would you agree it is an accessible way for the average poster here to consider personality traits wrt FPL or can you suggest a better way of analysing it in a simple way?

I have no issue with the attempt at correlation to FPL, my issue is with the source analysis itself. There's so much overlap between the 16 types that I don't find it very useful. I also think human beings are more complex than this.

Good point. I think it's his place to lose but it is a bit risky. I can't see rotation between the centre halves tbh. It'll be Jags and Mori unless they lose form. Jags is most nailed.

Statswise he has to be a great DGW defence option, rotation's gonna be an added problem with most teams. Never been so stressed trying to figure this lot out.

How is he a 'great' option statswise?

0 goals, 0 assists, and 6 clean sheets in 18 games.

Worst home defense in the league. They appear to be getting better but that price is waaaay too high.

    Foster
    Huth Williams Toby
    Arnie Mahrez Payet Siggy
    Kun Kane Vardy

    Subs: Butland Alli Daniels Ward

Have 2FTs, what would you do?

    a) use both FTs this week and WC next week
    b) use one FT this week, and make 2FTs next week and WC for GW34?

This week I'm looking at Chelsea defence and MF, but maybe Arse MF too.

I think I'm getting Darlow as my 2nd goalkeeper, who's the best pick as 1st choice? Cech ruled out as I already have 3 Arsenal.

    A) Robles
    B) Adrian
    C) De Gea
    D) Mignolet
    E) Gomes

Came up with as perfect WC team as I can after a weeks planning.
Giving me 4 dgw33 players. 15 dgw 34 players with bb. 11 players week 35. 8 dgw37 players with 2 free transfers to make this 10 with no hits.
I am settled on the teams involved but wanted help regarding which players from each team

    Robles- Migs
Gabriel, Sakho, Janmaat, Clichy, Dann (Rojo GW34)
Antonio, Ozil, Wijnaldum, Silva, Bolasie (Coutinho GW34)
    Aguerro, Lukaku, Welbeck

I have .03itb after planned transfers but can I have opinions on following please?

    1) Janmaat a doubt- any other n'castle defenders worth getting instead?
    2) Clichy better option than mangala and sagna (my affordable options)?
    3) Welbeck vs Mitrovic (which may let me upgrade Antonio to Payet)
    4) Bolasie better option than barkley/lennon?

    Any help greatly appreciated

      2. city defenders are rotation risks due to their poor form, Pellegrini has a headache himself trying to figure it out. Conceded 11 out of the last 8 PL matches, only scored 9. He might go one at the back and 9 up front?

WC32 - looking at overall next 4 weeks rather than fielding DGWers for the sakes of it

    1. Azpi (avl, swa, MCI, bou) or Cresswell (CPL, ARS, lei/WAT, ---)? Right now see better schedule and points in Azpi over next 4 GWs, no blank
1.b. Is Reid a decent option instead of Cresswell -- allows me to upgrade one of Robles/Darlow
    2. Too much rotation risk with Clichy? He seems best way into MCI defense that has GW35 and bou, WBA, che/new, STO
    3. Is Sakho really better way into Liverpool Defence at that price point versus Moreno?

Any ideas for me folks? Need to get ready for the DGWs somehow.

0.1m in bank, 2 FTs, no wildcards, Bench Boost. Currently no. 1 in main league (1749 point total):

    Hart
    Cresswell-Fuchs-Aldie
    Payet-Mahrez-Yaya-Arno
    Aguero(C)-Vardy-Kane

    Hennessey-Siggy-Williams-Daniels

Thinking to change Siggy to Barkley this week. Will eventually have to drop Kane and Vardy in order to afford Coutinho, Ozil.....

Thinking of going Kane & Vardy to Defoe & Lukaku

    Any comments appreciated

Best 2 going forward? (And why)

    A) Gomes (fixtures rest of season)
    B) Robles (conceding Everton side, possible rotation risk?)
    C) Darlow (New manager cleaning things up)

          GK: Fine.
DEF: I'm sure you'll get away with at least most of those.

MID: 2 slightly risky picks, Firmino for rotation and Bolasie for form, no Mahrez could hurt big time too.

ST: Fine, but I'd consider Welbeck instead of Martial myself.

        Foster

        Kun Kane Vardy

        Subs: Butland Alli Daniels Ward

2FTs, WCing next week I think, so this week:

OPPO r7 plus. High end phone. I just hate mobile only sites. Much better zooming in and out
