FFS Cup

FFS Cups – Results and Quarter-Final Draws

We take some time this evening to find out who has made it through to the quarter-finals of our two Premier League cup competitions.

Topping the bill among the last eight ties is a Live Hall of Fame top ten derby between Mark, whose rank of 297 makes him the highest-placed remaining manager, and the 423-ranked My Pretty Pony (aka Peter Kouewenberg). While Mark has the rank advantage, Peter’s second placing in the Live Hall of Fame, compared to Mark’s sixth spot, could see him prevail.

Choppers13, who conquered Patio Kev in round five, takes on Team Fosu-Mensah, who is at 3,474 – 2,506 places behind his top 1,000-ranked opponent.

The third quarter-final looks likely to be another close affair, with Sleepysi ranked just 960 behind 1,192-placed Fouad Khan.

Given the current rank of the other six managers through, both 364,588-placed K3lviN and 229,821-ranked The Shaman will be breating a sigh of relief as they face each other in a clash of the competition’s lowest-ranked remaining managers by some distance.

The full quarter-finals draw can be found here.

Choppers13 is the Members cup’s highest ranked-manager – and the only one still in both competitions. He has, on the face of it, a far easier tie in the Members cup, when he takes on 132,642-ranked Barwood.

The giant-killing exploits of 46,996-placed rogerbarton have taken him into the quarter-finals. Fresh from seeing off an 88th-ranked Pukka in round four, Roger defeated 20,109-placed Dr Ennet in the final 16 to set up an encounter with aspern, another higher- ranked manager, who sits in 12,763,

Cheltnamshire lalala, who currently sits at 3,056 and defeated community writer Kryten in the last 16, will square up to 59,241-ranked Malaikat Jahad.

Elsewhere, 13,579-placed Dynamic is the favourite in his quarter-final tie with Thecrystalball, who is the contest’s lowest-ranked manager at 171,998.

The full quarter final round draw can be found here.

There is £350 in Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk vouchers up for grabs for the final top three managers in both tournaments.

Good luck to all those involved and if you would like more information on the schedule and prizes, click this link.

If you've got BB left, your 5th mid should be King. And if it is, your 3rd striker shouldn't be Anichebe!

          What's your TV?
Struggling with that here - and not emotionally ready to depart with Spurs front 3...

Could achieve something like this if so inclined :

          Cab Pick
          Alonso Vert Yosh Steph Holg
          Sanc Haz Alli Erik King
          Costa Jesus Gabb

Sorry, the battery died on my laptop.

If you're still around then I haven't got a WC sonic still have the likes of Baines and Brunt. As a result my squad isn't template but is close to it.

I have decent TV but I think anyone should be able to get King as 5th mid and Gabbi as 3rd striker. For instamce, I have Davies, Alli and Eriksen instead of Kane, but I do have Costa and Jesus too. My Arsenal punt is Ozil.

Thoughts please on whether I should bench boost this week and triple captain Sanchez in gameweek 37 or vice versa:

    Pickford (De Gea)

    Alderweireld, Alonso, Holgate (Stephens, Koscielny)

Sane, Sanchez (c), Alli, King (Redmond)

    Origi, Kane, Negredo

JWP or Yoshida ahead of any of these:

Alonso, King, Sane, Hazard, Eriksen, Jesus, Kane, Costa?

There's too much Soton defender love on here. Don't see much return at all. I'm tempted just to go with Stephens and upgrade Yoshida to someone else

I have Daniels Alonso Gabriel. Stephens and JWP are on my bench. No point playing them this week but ok for 37 BB though I'll probably upgrade JWP to Sane then

Are people who are wildcarding now starting to think they might have been better off using it earlier??

The reason I ask is, most of the players I see people bringing in are players you would probably have been happy to have held 6 weeks ago (Alli, Eriksen, Alonso, King, Hazard, Sanchez, Sane, Kane, Costa, Vert). All players (other than King, & Kane who was injured) that we could be fairly sure we'd want in 37 imo. Sure, there are moves that maybe we didn't foresee i.e having to ship Walker/Valencia or Jesus being available but that's nothing the odd transfer of hit couldn't deal with. As for fielding close to 15 players with BB in 37, was saving the wildcard to do this so as to load up with the likes of Yoshida, Stephens, JWP, Anichebe really worth it??

Just for the record, I WC'ed in 29, and with 4 hits between then and 37 I'll (probably) be going into it with DDG, Pickford, Stones, Yosh, Alonso, Monreal, Huth, Sanchez, Haz, Sane, Alli, King, Jesus, Kane, Anichebe. So much the same (template) team as I see in so many WC posts. I feel that using the WC early benefited me hugely, my OR has gone from 150K to 23K.

    Interested to hear others thoughts.

I had most of who you mentioned (alli, Erik, Kane, Sanchez, Alonso etc), WC just smooths the rest and adds the last couple ready for BB

Not at all. I have bench boost and AOA so i'm loading up on my front 8. Restructuring my team for that balance is pretty crucial and not something you can do in a couple of GWs. Also some of the emerging DGW picks(Willy, Jesus, Ozil) I wouldn't be happy to own prior to the DGW.

Personally I think I would have been better off playing mine earlier. I could use the usual arguments about wanting to get the latest news/form etc. but I think the reality is I would have more points right now if I had played it a few weeks ago.

I wildcarded earlier and regretting it when I look at the hits im taking to get my team to where I want it to be. Injuries at the wrong time meant a lot of my planning went down the drain as priorities shifted. Not gonna make the same again next year, def gonna save the WC!

Funny isn't it...I was just thinking I'll have to WC early (around GW29/30) again next year.

Every years different though, so I guess it's just doing what feels right at the time.

    I just used my WC and my 11 is;
    Cech
    Alonso-Kompany-Monreal
    Ozil-Hazard-Eriksen-Sane
    Gabbiadini-Jesus-Kane.

    Improvements?
Best capo pick? Hazard , Ozil or Gabbiadini?

OR 7,357...slipped a little from inside too 4k with 2 poor captains but anyway...
Winning all my ML's with points and H2H combo's which is more important to me than TV and OR all year.

Bearing this in mind I've WC team activated to be followed by BB next week where I'll have 14 playing DGW's after I use my transfer..the other single game wheeler will be at home with a very appealing fixture (King / Holgate)

    Willy (Pickford)

    Gabriel, Yoshida, Huth (Stephens, Holgate)

Sanchez (C), Hazard, Sane, King (Alli)

    Jesus, Costa, Gabbi

Controversial I know with Alli, I still may play him over Sane..it's a tough call.

      I'm also on WC and I landed on;
      Pickford
      Alonso-Gabriel-Bertrand
      Ozil-Hazard-Eriksen-Alexis(c)-King
      Jesus-Costa.
I had Gabbi and Sane, but Gabbi might not play 90min and I couldn't decide on Ozil or Alexis.

In other news guys, Burton Albion survived in their first season of the championship. Meaning we'll have had more seasons in the championship (2) in our history than league one (1 season).

We have survived barely spending a penny (relatively speaking). £350k on Jackson Irvine, and a similar amount on Mcfadzean. Everyone else signed on loan or a free.

We've beat the likes of Leeds, Derby, Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich, and drawn with the likes of Aston Villa.

In some cases, like Derby, their bench was 26 times more than our squad. Or wolves... Helder Costa 13x our squad value.

Barely any money spent, a well run club, average attendances of 6k...compared to Newcastles 55k.

Only got into the football league 9 years ago. Promoted back to back from league two to get there.

Have a read about em whilst the site is down ;), good story.
