The ScoutCast – Episode 235 – Swingers

Careering out of the international break at speed, the ScoutCast returns in anticipation of a turning point in our seasons.

We’ve been chattering for several weeks on the much anticipated “fixture swing”, and now we’re all set to put ourselves at its mercy.

What does it mean for our Fantasy line-ups?

In truth, with multiple transfers and Wildcards at our disposal, Jonty, Andy, Luke and myself started this latest episode still seeking our own answers. Over almost 90 minutes and with your community questions providing the steer, we do our best to reach some conclusions.

We weigh up Manchester United exit plans, Liverpool’s blunted attack and Jamie Vardy’s recuperation techniques, before previewing Gameweek 8 in the usual hap-hazard style.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Your team is really good. Sad to see you have 2 frees. I honestly don't know what you can change with 0.0m in the bank.

Maybe, Salah + Mbemba to Sterling + 5.1m def.

Either that or a useless 5th mid swap is all I can see unfortunately.

    People considered Kane too expensive at 12.5 at the beginning of the season but with his form picking up and should he return at home he really becomes near essential. What I would like to know then is;

    1. At what price would you refuse to invest in Kane if you didn't have him already?

    2. If you bought him at 12.4 and he gets a red card or three game injury, would you sell seeing as he wouldn't drop by more than 0.2 with the new algorithm?

    1. We Will Klopp you
      • 7 Years

      1. No price, he's the best captaincy option in the game but most will have him that want to buy him soonish

      2. Sell him, can't have that kind of money on your bench with other options firing

    2. Pierce34
      • 8 Years
      6 years, 6 months ago

      1. Not sure

      2. Yeah you'd have to sell, any amount of money in that region would be too much to bench.

    3. Get up ya bum
      • 14 Years
      6 years, 6 months ago

      1. There is no price is refuse to get him. Lots of things factor, not least how good the alternatives are.
      2. Seriously? I'd sell him in a flash. Don't care how much he rises or falls you don't give your team a 12.5 handicap for three games.

      1. Jayv807
        • 7 Years
        6 years, 6 months ago

Agree with this. Besides if you bought at 12.4 you would sell for 12.6 now, meaning you'd probably be able to buy back at the same price later.

      Interesting views but

      1. 13.5 would be too rich for me

      2. It might be stupid but I wouldn't sell if the pp and sp were 0.5 or more apart. But this would also depend on my team being able to absorb the handicap

Been in my team since day 1 and wont be moving bar injury. He will score 30 maybe 35 goals this season, he's deadly, and is top 3 strikers on the planet, he will only get better

I'd like to see someone who's willing to try and bring some young blood through. Got to give guys like McGregor, McGinn and the likes a chance instead of percervering with tried and trusted failures like Bannen imo.

Is it too late to pick Davies with 5.9? Because it's a bit hard for TOT to get more than 2 CS in the next 5 weeks.

Even with short term fixtures in Che favour I would still pick Davies.

    4. enrico.palazzo

I would pick Luiz due to CS incoming and kind schedule. The Possible rotation along with horrid fixtures has me turned off Davies

I could pick Courtois just to cover Chelsea CS. Still Luiz over Davies?

        1. enrico.palazzo
          • 11 Years
          6 years, 6 months ago

I don't see much value in a premium keeper where a 4.5 gets occasional clean sheets but consistent save points (e.g. Fabianksi/Pope/Ryan)

Luiz over davies for me. But i'm tossing up with the same

    5. TallestJohn

Of Chelsea defenders only Alonso rivals Davies for attacking potential.

      1. RIDZ
        • 7 Years
        6 years, 6 months ago

so you pick Davies? If I talk about CS, I could swap DDG to Courtois. Chelsea has the longest fixtures for CS.

        1. TallestJohn
          • 7 Years
          6 years, 6 months ago

Yeah definitely Davies, he's about as nailed as Luiz at the moment imo.

I think Azpi is the Chelsea defender to have.

Liverpool - United 0-0 last year

If you have a playing 5th defender you keep.

Don't have a playing 5th defender which makes things harder for me. Had him from GW1 and so it'll only cost me an extra 0.1m to get him back. He may get cleans but I'll always have that nagging doubt about playing him in 3 of the next 4. He gets no attacking returns too, though is decent on bonus.

I do too mate at least i hope so.. I would go Jones tbh if we do get the clean then he could well be in the bonus.. logic would say favour the attacker but i just don't see Stoke seeing much action at the business end of the pitch against City

Keeping for now Cheese (Valencia) as I don't think it's worth a transfer out just yet, wanna see how the defense holds up against bigger teams first. Saying that though his price doesn't sit well with me and could easily transfer him to Jones next week to fund another move.

      1. KingNidge
        • 8 Years

If i had Valencia as opposed to Jones i would be a lot more tempted to shift simply because of the money you would have to play with.. moves to Walker Azpilicueta in that bracket would certainly appeal or a downgrade to one of the other City lads

Thoughts on this WC team? Finding it difficult to piece something I like...

    Fabianski (Elliot)

    Ottamendi - Cedric - Mee - Clark - 3.9
    Sterling - Hazard - Chopou-Moting - Siggy 4.3
    Vardy - Kane - Jesus

Light in Defence obviously and feeling punty with Siggy.

    Thoughts appreciated.

Are Watford not a decent team though? We were happy to get King from Bournemouth last year, I'd argue Watford are similar in that respect (and probably better defensively but that's a different issue)

Having said all that - I'm not against the Siggy punt, he has the stats to back it up in the past couple of weeks.

I prefer Richarlison to Choupo-Moting, but having said that I have both in a cheap midfield!

I think he looks really good but some bad fixtures on the way
Btw my suggestion was absolute fodder for the Siggy spot and go 523. It's risky but might work.
If going the 6.1 mill or less route I don't think there are any better options than Richarlison

Check how other Arsenal defenders are doing: Mustafi out long-term, Kos and Kola doubts. Could affect Monreal's defensive potential.

I don't understand why you would want to double up on that defence even with the fixtures and for a player while looking to have a decent attack threat surely has competition for that spot.

Planning to WC in 4 weeks and SOT are decent defensively and have 4 great fixtures I’d be happy playing Yosh in (NEW, WBA, bha, BUR). For around 5m I think they’re the best short term option.

I agree he’s a slight rotation concern, although he clearly seems first choice at the moment

Thoughts on WC team lads? Massively shaken up the last 24hrs due to Aguero fitness..

    Fab
    Stones Cedric Luiz Ward
    Sterling Silva Richarlison
    (K)ane Lukaku Vardy

Elliot / Jones RLC King(got in at 4.4 and hesitant to change for 4.5)
    1.7 itb
Appreciate the back 5 is overkill. Plan would be to go Luiz/Stones -> Wimmer or similar to rotate with Ward.
Cash in the bank for Vardy -> Morata, or to change a city mid and get in Kun.

Back 5 not overkill at all if you're happy with your City/Chelsea coverage and playing Cedric's favourable fixtures. If anything you could upgrade them.

Morata probably the best of those options.

    Best 5.5m-ish mid?

Got Gross and enjoyed his points but despite good fixtures I'm not overly confident in him. Can sell for 5.6m.

Can see Choupo-Moting putting himself about a bit more and nicking a goal or assist here and there. Brady could benefit from Burnley being a solid team. Richarlison a bit expensive for his fixtures.

Went with my head and against the flow, sold Salah for Sterling (-4) kept Mikhi.

Mikhi now has Liverpool and Huddersfield before he leaves or stays, still think 8m for a United mid is a gift, 43 points for 8m is not to be sniffed at.

Now have two weeks to see if Liverpool implode without Mane or pick the best option after they play United and Spurs, have 2.6 in the bank so can also fund Eriksen to Hazard and Jesus to Lukaku/Aguero as a plan B.

    G2G?

    Elliot
    Alonso Davies Jones Cedric Naughton
    Eriksen Sterling Mkhitaryan
    Kane (c) Jesus

    Foster TCaroll RLC Hemed

    2.6 in the bank.

Not this week, want to see how it plays out now and already taken a -4.

Naughton and Hemed rotate nicely for Hemed's nicer games so won't to keep those to pump money elsewhere, 2.6 gives a lot of options now so can sit on this and do what's best now.

No point having any money on the bench with the free hit chip IMO unless you have any doubts over your starting 11, saying that, I had no doubts about Bailly and he got benched when I used mine.

Your team looks fantastic for this week, I wouldn't worry about your bench, good luck with it, would love to know how you get on with it.
