Dugout Discussion – Man United vs Chelsea

Sunday’s Premier League action is completed by a potentially tumultuous clash at Old Trafford as Manchester United host champions Chelsea.

Inevitably the head-to-head between Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte will hog the media spotlight but the interest of Fantasy managers is likely to lie elsewhere.

David De Gea is the top owned asset on show – he remains part of 43.2% of squads with his managers hoping that the Spaniard can help his side to a sixteenth clean sheet of the season. He’s kept three successive shut-outs at Old Trafford.

But Chelsea have the weaponry to breach Mourinho’s rearguard.

Both Eden Hazard and Willian arrive in superb form, though the pair are relative differentials, owned by 7.9% and 7.5% respectively.

Hazard has six goals in his last six Gameweeks while Willian arrives having scored in an impressive midweek showing against Barcelona. The Brazilian has two goals and three assists in his last two Premier League starts.

That pair will flank Alvaro Morata who earns a recall and first start since Gameweek 23.

Marcos Alonso remains a far more popular Blues asset, though he has lost over 364,000 owners over the last two Gameweeks heading into this afternoon’s encounter. However, the wing-back is still part of 1.1 million squads.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Clean sheets seem hard to come by at the moment, consistently frustrating scores from defenders.

Boat's sailed I think, unless you are playing FH chip in GW31. I don't think it's worth spending a FT on him for 2 games when he's also a rotation risk,

I did not listen and got him. Form and fixtures amazin....Just get a good sub for him and expect him not to play sometimes cuz they have lots of games.
But in his form cant see him rotated just for the sake of rotation. The coach is not blind.

Son to start next GW against Huddersfield? Difficult decision to hold or get him out, if he starts it's a prime fixture.

If I do decide to transfer him out, for a player with a fixture in GW 31 or not? Already have 3 Liverpool, have Walcott, the only mid with a GW31 fixture who has appeal is Shaqiri and dunno if I even fancy him -- could it be better bringing in someone who doesn't have a GW31 but offers more points potential?

The line up against Rochdale will help but I think he's too much of a risk to keep anymore with so many other nailed players producing points.

Same problem, but given his home form and the fact that it is HUD I think I will keep him. BGW and WC are so near and if he starts and scores brace it would not be fun. Son is able to score as a sub also.

Pff, you are in a bit of a pickle there.
I would definetely play Shaqiri because he is on a roll with a decent fixture. Wilson too I think, Leicester haven't looked great.

I'd probably bench Azpi because City will score, Zeegelar because he plays for Watford and the last decision might make itself depending on injury news on Coleman.

          What are your thoughts?

          1. Deulofail
            • 8 Years

Cheers. Currently thinking of having a bench of Azpi, Wilshere, Zeegelaar. But I don't have much faith in Wilson, and I would expect others to suggest making Wilshere 3rd sub instead of 2nd. However, against lesser opposition, Arsenal can thrive, and I'm even tempted to push Wilshere into 1st sub position (could be rested, though, if he plays on Thursday - but hopefully he won't).

Coleman not likely to be fit, Azpi vs City, Zegelaar is out of the team atm, even wilshere after tonights shenanigans could be benched. So it is a question between Wilshere and Azpi, i would prob bench azpi?

So you're saying bench Zeegelaar and Coleman for sure? For the most part, it's a question of "if they play, would I want them to be on my bench or in my starting XI". It's foolhardy to bench players simply because you think they might not play. For example, many have put Sterling in their starting XIs this week, despite him being a doubt.

totally agreeing on the part that you not necessarily bench players who are doubts but in this case it´s one player (Zegeelar) who looks to be out of favour and Coleman have been out for a year and now appears to have some muscle problems, that doesn´t bode well imo, but of course wait for news from Allardyce. I sold Sterling but not because he was a doubt but because i thought Mahrez would be a better pick for the rest of season, if i´d not sold i would have played him for sure. Sorry for late repost.

Next weeks captaincy looks difficult, a good difficult though, many options! Kane or Salah, may go for Salah purely because he'll be live at 5.30.

Kane also more likely to come off early to rest for Juve whereas Liverpool pretty well secure in their game

    **SNOW**
Would only love city/arsenal to be cancelled Thursday.
Sold aguero and sterling for Kane and eriksen. Would make the moves perfect.
That and I own monreal. Figured this injury today would mean a no show anyways.
    Chances of blank??

Would very likely mean a City DGW in 30 vs Brighton due to lack of free weeks later in the season.

Nope, saving that chip for later. Got 7 players for 31 already and there are no really tempting defenders from those teams.

Early days I know with game week not even over but Son to Mahrez a no brainer? I reckon I'll have enough for GW31 regardless.

    Adrian (Speroni)
    Mee, Maguire, Alonso (Mawson, Kenny)
    Salah, Mane, Walcott, Shaqiri, Mahrez
    Kane, Firmino (Wilson)

Huddersfield fixtures are fantastic after next week:
tot, SWA, CPA, new, bri, WAT

    Would you:
    1. Azpi & Gross -> Zanka & 8.4mid (Sané?)
    2. Otamendi, Azpi, Gross —> Zanka, Mawson, Eriksen

    DDG
    Otamendi Azpi VVD

This. Snow is mostly forecast in the East and South East.

At a push, maybe Leicester v Bournemouth and Watford v West Brom, but I'd be surprised if any were called off.
