The Community Round-up: Price rises, KDB and premium defenders

The Fantasy Football Scout Community have been dealing with the fallout from Gameweek 1 this week, with everything covered from early price changes to Kevin De Bruyne’s knee injury.

As well as the usual array of superb discussions in the comments this week, there have been some welcome article and table submissions that can help with our planning for Gameweek 2 and beyond.

Our latest Community Round-up feature has it all covered.

The Hottest Topics

Our community’s dissection of Gameweek 1 began with detailed analyses of three of the weekend’s fixtures, with maltasi, Bruce Lee and Parm offering some real insight into the Watford v Brighton, Bournemouth v Cardiff and Fulham v Crystal Palace fixtures respectively.

Richarlison had his owners worried after limping from the field in Everton’s 2-2 draw with Wolves, but facer reassured us with what turned out be a spot-on appraisal of the Brazilian’s injury.

With the start of a new season came the return of our regular What Have We Learned? and Rough with the Smooth topics, the latter of which featured RedLightning‘s early ascent to the top of the Mods and Cons league.

The Gameweek 1 picks of 15 Hall of Famers were the subject of rent_boy‘s FPL player analysis, meanwhile.

Eden Wizard was the winner of our Scout Pick Community Lottery for Gameweek 2, as attention turned to this forthcoming weekend.

The Community discussed the pros and cons of gambling on an early transfer, while G-Whizz rounded up the “Doosra stats”, fixture odds and clean sheet odds to help with our planning.

The repercussions of Kevin De Bruyne’s knee injury sparked debate, with Parm providing a deeper analysis of Manchester City’s tactical tweaks in the 2-0 win over Arsenal. Becks also gave us his predictions on what City’s line-up may look like this Sunday in De Bruyne’s absence.

ZoumasBloomers asked us for our favourite FPL goal of all time – as well as the goal that has hurt you the most.

DJDave1979 pondered if some premium defenders were season-keepers, while the indefatigable TorresMagic was back to round up the early price rises and drops. Cheers, TM!

COMMUNITY TABLES

There are numerous user-generated tables to pore over this week:

COMMUNITY ARTICLES

We have had some brilliant articles submitted this week, which all proved to be an enjoyable read. TopMarx provided some excellent research into what constitutes a successful season in FPL  looking at how the increase in managers and quantity of players using different websites for advice have both changed the parameters somewhat.

We continued our series of RMTs by having a look at RedLightning’s team for Gameweek 2  while MathewNixon treated us to part two of Everton’s Silva Lining.

COMMUNITY TOURNAMENTS

There was a fast start in FFS Mods and Cons for RedLightning, with TorresMagic and Ragabolly off to flyers too. Deputy editor Skonto Rigga is also currently in the top five after Gameweek 1, narrowly ahead of our very own Joe:

1. RedLightning – 104 points
2. TorresMagic – 98 points
3. Ragabolly – 91 points
4. Skonto Rigga – 90 points
5. Joe – 89 points

Meanwhile, a Bench Boost has fired Vladimir Jelenić to the summit of the public FantasyFootballScout league:

1. Vladimir Jelenić – 133 points
2. Warren Lim – 131 points
3. Ben Wheatcroft – 129 points
4. Andy Davies – 122 points
5. Petri Selkäinaho – 119 points

In our Members’ league, Nick Howard also deployed his Bench Boost chip to great effect:

1. Nick Howard – 129 points
2. Alistair Ross – 118 points
3. Takeshi Igomoto – 117 points
4. Timothy Wright – 112 points
5=. Rickhard Alen/Luke Aiello/Aron Hogni Georgsson – 111 points

What happens if I join a mini league that started in GW1

Will my points tally start from GW2 or will previous weeks count too?

Why is everyone worried about Aguero being rotated?! Has Pep said something? It surely can't be because he didn't score against Arsenal/didn't pass the ball to KDB...

It is important to make one distinction - a manager isn't a fantasy manager. People here worry that one game or even moment in a game changes everything. I.e Mendy, a rotation risk and injury risk one week ago, is going to be so attacking this year that top end returns are inevitable against Huddlesfield. Or Aguero, who scored two against Chelsea and is perhaps the league's best striker in the context of an unfit and out of sorts Kane, is now going to be subbed for Jesus after one match, despite no fixture pile up and a season of conclusive evidence that Pep favours Aguero (because he realised the year before that Aguero is the far superior striker).

Relax and captain the obviously best option this year if you own him. City play relegation favourites at home. I'd predict 4 goals and Aguero to invariably be amongst them.

He may want to give Jesus some time after the WC, Brazil didn't get that much further than Arg

      "A manager isn't a fantasy manager."

i.e. just because you'd play Aguero every week doesn't mean Pep would.

Even when Aguero starts, haven't city really struggled against Huddersfield in all 3 of their last attempts?

The last time was after they won the league , best to look at last week when Chelsea beat them 3-0 , have to assume City can do atleast the same!

    A) Stick with Lucas Moura
    B) Swap Moura for Richarlison ?

Stick for now I'd say just because he's likely to start and has a good fixture, and that'll give you more information (from this GW) plus two FT to get the best out of your transfers

      good luck!

Stick for now, Spurs have a good fixture and you can still make that transfer next week even if Richarlison rises again.

Watch: MCI and LIV games low scoring, and TOT smash FUL with a Kane hatty.

(Unlikely, but would cause chaos for people trying to get Kane in lol)

As a Salah/Aguero owner that would be great to get their ownership down a bit for the rest of the season!

The number of clicks this article will have got, I think we can expect a lot of similar ones in the weeks to come. Journalists finally waking up to the potential of FF for clicks.

    This is my current team

    Patricio
    Mendy Robertson Peltier
    Eriksen Sanchez Mane Cairney
    Aguero Rashford Firminho

I basically want to try and get the following players in.. DDG, Pogba, Kane

What is everyone strategy with premium players? How many do you generally have? So far my defence is pretty expensive. I feel like I need to take Sanchez out, my strikers I am so unsure about. Do I bring Kane in and downgrade another striker? Or do I keep my team fairly balanced

With both Mendy and Robertson, I feel DDG is too much in DF

Value for money wise do you think there is better value at 4.5 or 5 million goalie wise?

    2. Skalla
      • 7 Years

Yeah your defense is fine atm , would be too much if you add De Gea too. Can go Sanchez to Pogba and then Firmino to Kane if you want him , would also try to get Rashford out at some point.

Yeah I was thinking Sanchez to Pogba. Ideally I would like to keep Firminho. Was thinking maybe Kane Lacazette and Firminho. But don’t know how realistically I can do it?

Do you think it’s worth me making any changes this week or wait til next week where I will have 2 free transfers
