Captains

Vote in the Captain Poll for Gameweek 22

Mohamed Salah (£13.3m), Eden Hazard (£11.1m) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.4m) could be set to do battle for the Gameweek 22 captaincy this week.

You can now vote in the poll below, or in the sidebar, as well as watch our latest captain video on YouTube.

Liverpool travel to Brighton in the hope of getting their title challenge back to winning ways after losing to Manchester City last time out.

In spite of a blank at the Etihad Stadium, only Son Heung-min (£8.8m) has better form than Salah right now, according to the official FPL site.

The Egyptian has three double-figure hauls in his last four Premier League outings, four goals and two assists in his last four away matches.

With Liverpool still in exciting goal-scoring form, Salah’s colleague Roberto Firmino (£9.2m) may also be looked at, with four goals in his last two matches.

However, Hazard should provide stronger competition for Salah, as Chelsea host a Newcastle side still allowing plenty of chances to their opponents.

The Belgian may have blanked in his last two matches and be without a league goal at Stamford Bridge since Gameweek 7, but his underlying data still looks promising, as Fantasy Football Scout members found out recently.

Also providing a compelling case for the captaincy is Arsenal striker Aubameyang, with goals in three of his last four matches.

Meanwhile, West Ham are still without a clean sheet at home since Gameweek 6, when they frustrated Chelsea in a 0-0 draw. Since then, they have conceded 1.88 goals per match at the London Stadium.

Elsewhere, recent high-performing assets at Spurs and Manchester United may be discounted based on the fact that the two sides go head-to-head at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester City options have underwhelmed in recent weeks and they may end up going under the radar once again in Gameweek 22 as Wolves come to the Etihad Stadium.

The newly-promoted side has already frustrated Pep Guardiola’s men once this season, in the 1-1 draw at Molineux back in Gameweek 3. Wolves are also building a reputation for being more defensively sound away from home than in front of their own fans. The only sides to have conceded fewer goals on the road than Wolves this season are Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City themselves.

To stop the RED ARROWS... Thoughts on these moves? Should I do them this week to avoid being priced out?

Son + Martial + Alonso —> Salah + Puncheon + TAA which will give me this:

It would give me this team...

    Fabianski / Hamer
    TAA / Digne / Robertson / Doherty / Bennet
    Hazard / Richarlson / Salah / Pogba / Puncheon
    Jiminez / Auba / Rashford

wait a week, no point in doing those moves now, if not for the money, but i would actually if money is an issue consider waiting an downgrade bennet to bednarek if yuo need 0.1 or 0.2 next week. This week Son could hurt you, Alonso can hurt you, Martial is prob better than Jimenez this week, so better to keep him and then get rid next week. Alonso then plays Arsenal away, Son is away and Salah home, less chance of backfiring imo.

Kane seems really unpopular in the captain's poll. Do people suddenly fancy United's defense? I can see an incoming classic with plenty goals for both sides. Not so keen on the armband for Hazard

sort of game where kane could score 1 and just finish on 6, could even do nothing with a spurs win and get booked. I think this isn't kane captain territory.

Don't think that United's defence is ok but it's still a derby. I'd opt for Hazard or Salah (don't own Auba).

I think OGS and Phelan are smart enough to work out how to blunt Spurs (at least in theory - might not happen in practice if the players can't apply it). OGS and Phelan are from the Fergie era and Fergie would play Rooney wide left and put Park in the side when they had tough opposition.

Nope. But will take the CS points and bonus.

Sarri's defence is working quite effectively now. Backed up by the fact that Chelsea have 10 CS in the PL (only Liverpool have more with 12). Part of that is making Alonso less attacking IMO. You can see that before when Azpi was forward, Alonso would go forward too, regardless of the defensive vulnerability. Now Alonso looks to see where Azpi is before he makes a forward run. Alonso is also staying a bit wider than he used to, which reduces his attacking output IMO. Still a threat from free-kicks and corners though.

It started in GW6 against West Ham. Alonso almost allowed Arnie to score because he decided to go forward when Azpi was also high up the pitch and West Ham hit Chelsea on the counter. Arnie didn't score, but Sarri was annoyed and Alonso was dialled back at that point.

In later GWs there were some comments from Hazard: "Marcos, I think your first target is to defend, because you play left back, but this guy don't want to listen, he just wants to score goals"

They had a creaky December, but look back to their good defensive selves now.

Any reason not to bring in Salah and Jiminez just because your rival has them? Getting rid of Kane and Felipe Anderson. Feel like Kane's output could tail off without Son and I've got Arnautovic so I think I could afford to lose Anderson.

    Who's currently better value?

TAA (5.2m) or Robertson (6.6)? Can afford either to come in for Shaw but I think TAA might make more sense.

Llorente and Janssen are meant to be on their way too. If that is the case then Spurs could use a top quality CM IMO.

      GK: Lloris, Gazzaniga, Vorm
      LB: Rose, Davies
      RB: Trippier, Aurier
      CB: Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Sanchez, Foyth
      DM: Dier, Wanyama
      CM: Winks, Sissoko
      AM: Eriksen, Alli, Lamela, Moura

Not really if I'm honest, I don't know what to think about how Spurs will act. I suspect they'll wait until the summer.

But how will they deal with Eriksen's contract situation? How will they keep Poch interested? It seems to me that they need to sign a big player as well as tying up some contracts. That then keeps Poch and shows they will compete in the transfer market. But it's equally possible they don't sign anyone big and it gets worse.

I'll be watching to see if Madrid can get them to budge on Eriksen.. would they sell for 100m? 150m? And if they do and they re-invest that how would they go about it, and how would they replace Eriksen as well as getting a CM?

I think they could lose Eriksen, but Levy will be sure to get a good price and maybe ask for Isco in return if his wage demands aren't deemed too high? I think keeping Poch is the most important factor in all of this though. Could be an interesting few months at Spurs.

Yeah I think they need more, especially when you look at City's options in the middle - Gundogan, De Bruyne, Bernardo, Silva, Fernandinho, Foden, Delph etc.

    B) Auba + Camarasa (Fodder)

      B. Too many variables for Hazard to perform at his best: Morata, lack of healthy wingers, etc.

    Current wildcard thoughts?

    Etheridge, Guaita
    Trent, Gomez, Doherty, Digne, AWB
    Salah, Hazard, Sane, Pogba, Puncheon
    Arnie, Jimenez, Rashford

0.7 ITB - slight risk going with Gomez early but the other defenders can cover him for the next week or two

Really need to gain some ground in my mini league- most have Salah, so putting him in won't help me in that regard, but I really feel I need him.

    Team is:
    Allison (4.0)
    Luiz, Robbo, Tompkins, Doherty, Dinge,
    Sterling, Siggy, Pogba, Lingard, Hojbjerg
    Kane Jimmy Vardy.

    2FT's
1.Sterling and Vardy- Salah and Arni
    2. Sterling and Lingard- salah Sema (got a feeling about Ken)

    OR

Don't get salah, do Hojbjerg to Sema and roll a FT til next week and reassess, praying that Sterling does the biz and have no real captain this week?

    Any advice?

-2.1M away from that move. Plus Hazard is my nemesis. If you look at his points score throughout the early part of the season- if he scored 3 or less, he was in my team- anything more and I had moved him on. Same last year. Can't cope with him!

          Fair enough 😀

I'd keep Sterling though. For me Vardy and Lingard are the players that I wouldn't want to have.

Not enough to do that either. Would involve a -4 and taking siggy, vardy and lingard out for Salah and 2 fodders

This is my team. I have 2 Free Transfers available but not sure what to do. The downside is that all my subs do not play.

    Lloris
    Bednarak, Robertson, TAA, Luiz
    Salah, Hazard, Sterling, Westwood,
    Kane, Rashford,

    Subs, Speroni, Hudson-Odoi, Connolly, Quaner

    Any help much appreciated.

Sterling and Hazard to Salah and D Silva for -4 or just keep but that would likely mean Richarlison (C)? I went without Salah all season and always planned to get him in on WC in Jan but now I kind of want to keep WC for a bit longer.

No way, don't take out Sterling and Hazard for a hit, either player could easily outscore Salah this week. I'd captain both of them over Richarlison too.

Neither of them has returned anything as captain all season for me. If i were to stick then maybe Sterling but never Haz ever again.

Richarlison has 16 points in his last 5 games, playing in a struggling Everton team. Sterling for me.

Are Bilva or Dilva reasonable picks? Want to bring in some city but can’t afford the 9.5+ Sané,Sterling and worried KDB may limit the Silvas playing time.
    Thoughts?

David Silva is a great pick if you can't afford the premium options.

    hear me out

    Fabianski - Button
    Digne - Doherty - Holebas - Wan-Bissaka- Chambers
    Hazard - Pogba - Sigurdsson - Snodgrass - Hogg
    Kane - Rashford - Aubameyang

    2ft 4.1 itb

    I was thinking in
    Snodgrass - Aubameyang -> Salah - Arnautovic/Jiménez

Can you see other way/better way to get Salah?

don't like the idea of losing Auba, but i really can go without Salah

Not this week. Do Holebas/Chambers to TAA instead and do those moves next week.
